Cole looked over his little misfits who all now have turned 10 years of age. It has been a chaotic 5 years. All four of them turned from skinny uneducated orphans and now they all could be passed as young heirs of any noble house but both he and Rose made sure they did not have the arrogance and bigotry those little noble shits had. There were also some interesting events, which happened in the past five years. Luckily his and Rose's stats are high enough because without them they might have become crippled when they taught the four of them how to dance. He also still got shivers remembering some of their “creations” during the cooking lessons. He had still no idea how Luna and Danny messed up a boar stew.

So your mom and I have explained to you that once kids turn the age of 10 your system unlocks partly. You are now all beginner tier which is level 0 to 25. This will allow learning of basic skills such as Cooking, weapon masteries, and basic mana skills. As well as being able to raise all of your stats by training. It is believed the systems gives this time to people for their bodies to acclimate to their newfound strength. These next 5 years will be the easiest in your life to gain Skills and skill levels without combat.

So from today onward, you will be training with the sword every day in the morning with me and in the afternoon Rose will lead you through mana training. Rose and I want to max out your stats and skill levels before you guys unlock your own classes. Now, do you have any questions?

Luna spoke first, So why do we need to max out our skills and stats?

Good question and there is a very simple answer. Class Rarity and with how high all your affinities are we should be able to get all of you at the least uncommon classes but most likely you will all end up with rare classes and I have never heard of anyone getting an epic class as their first class, those are all myths and legends. Also after your system is fully unlocked it takes way more time and effort to gain extra stats which are not given to you from your class.

I thought we were going to be mages since we all had high affinities so why do we need to train with the sword?

So Mae, what happens when a mage runs out of mana and the enemy is still alive? They die… plain and simple. Also, your mom and I have been trained by some of the best swordsmen in the world. Once we are done training you all there will be very few who can beat you with technique alone. If you all want a mage class you can pick it as your second class. But you can only unlock your second class after breaking past the Journeyman barrier. Which quite far away so there is no need to worry about it now.

Cole lead them out behind the house where wood dummies standing and wooden practice swords were placed in a barrel.

I am going, to be honest with you all it will suck at first but after a couple of months your hands will be calloused and your muscle won’t cramp up every night before bed. Now, why don’t we start with 100 vertical swings?

Lunch was a quiet affair none of the kids had enough energy to do much more than eat. Rose was an amazing cook everything she cooks tasted like ambrosia, it was still a miracle with her instruction Luna and Danny could still not make anything edible. Meanwhile, Danny could not feel his arms. The rest properly could not either it was hell more like torture than practice. Cole was still smiling, not a speck of sweat on him and he did everything they did smiling the whole time. Just how high is his stats to not even sweat in this summer heat?

He has talked with the rest of his siblings away from their parents debating who their parents are. They do not work but still have plenty of money and both have a vast amount of knowledge in too many areas to be just retired adventures. During their lessons in the past 5 years, they have shown their massive knowledge of not just the Republic but also the Empire. They taught us about all the important noble houses and larger organizations, which are prominent in the Republic and Empire. This has led to some theories from everyone.

Luna thinks they are nobles from the Republic who wanted out of the politics and want to raise us in peace.

Mae’s theory is they are runaway nobles from the Empire which he thinks has some merit since they never talk good about them.

Klaus thinks Rose is a Noble lady from the Republic who wanted to run away with a commoner and so that is why they are in a small town on the border southern border of the Republic

Danny himself thinks neither of them is noble before Rose and Cole adopted him he had a few experiences with nobles and neither of them had the air of self-importance, that he has come to know of nobles. They mostly come from a big organization from either the Republic or Empire, which would explain the amount of knowledge they have and the amount of money.

Once everyone was done Rose took their plates, she announced they all had to bathe and from today onwards they had to bathe before she would feed them their lunch.

After they washed and gathered in the living room and small cushions which Rose spread out on the floor for them beforehand.

Rose could see how tired they all were she would not be able to get them to do anything worthwhile for at least a month. Luckily for them, the sword was harder and more important. They were all gifted with a high affinity for mana it would not take them long to bring their skills up to the barrier. It might take them a few years out in the real world after they join the guild before they will truly be thankful for the swordsmanship training they are receiving from Cole. Very few people knew Cole but every person who held an important position knew about him not by name but by prowess with blades in both the Republic and Empire.

Once they are all settled down on their cushions Rose brought out a box that contained 4 crystals.

They all felt a pull from one of the crystals. Rose smiled at their reactions, so you guys can already tell which one is for you. There was one that looked like a storm with lighting arching every second, which was handed to Danny. The next was given to Mae she was a little jealous her crystal was dull grey nothing as remarkable as a thunderstorm. She looked at the crystal which Klaus had which was the darkest black she has ever seen. Luna’s crystal was like hers' nothing special just dark dull colors nothing like Klaus or Danny.

These are mana crystals that are attuned to each of your own affinities, we could have used non-attuned mana crystals but it would take longer and way more effort, and if we want you all to reach the first barrier before you all turn 15 and unlock your classes. Then we needed to use attuned crystals. We will start with meditation and once you gain the skill it will help you learn mana manipulation.

So do you have any guess what your affinities are now?

I guess mine is lighting since there are lighting bolts inside my crystal. Danny felt a connection to the crystal in his hand, so lighting was my affinity I wonder why they never told us before now.

The other three had some guesses but none of them were close to the correct affinity in their crystal.

Rose let them guess for a while before she told them. Luna your affinity is dark, shadow was a good guess. Mae your crystal does look like stone but it is metal which is very in good in combat and crafting. Now Klaus yours is the rarest of them all. It is called void which is not very well known, some people get it confused with spatial since you will most likely be able to long-range teleport at higher levels. They are very similar but Void is more combat focused than spatial.

Now, let us start with your meditation, it will take a week or so but you should be able to get the skill.

Luna lay in bed it has been a week since their training started everyone has gotten the Meditation and Sword Mastery skills.

Hey Mae… Mae are you asleep?

I was… what do you want? I want to go back to sleep. Mae groaned and rolled over to face Luna

Why do you think they are training us so hard? Does it not seem weird how much they are emphasizing our training?

Well, we all have our own guesses on who they really are and I think they do not want us to be powerless when we are older. They also know how the world works more than we do. They love us and they do not want us to be killed by being weak. Because there are probably people after them who are more powerful than we are. That is also why they taught us all how to fit in anywhere. Who knows when our family gets broken apart when the wrong people find this small town?

Okay Mae you did not have to get that dark, maybe we should change affinities, but you are probably right about some things. I just hope the four of us can stick together.
