6. [PAST POINT] Come with us.

6. [PAST POINT] Come with us.

Ethan pulled out his Bracon, and with a few taps, made contact with Aarthel Kanthia in the Ignis Realm. A shimmering projection of Kanthia’s face and upper body hovered in the air before him and Emberis, her golden eyes fixed on them with curiosity.

Ethan, grinning slightly, spoke first. "I’m sending you a gift. Please keep it safe until we return."

Kanthia’s brow arched in confusion. "What gift?"

Ethan stepped aside, revealing the unconscious Mirgethis Dihodos lying on the ground. The monstrous creature was motionless, her powerful frame dwarfed by the surroundings.

Kanthia blinked, taken aback**. "What kind of gift is this?"**

Ethan’s smile widened. "She’s unconscious. I’ll be sending her in a Mini-Dyfost. Just keep her in the Freezing Room until I get back—I need her blood to make a serum."

Kanthia’s lips pressed into a thin line as she took in the sight**. "What about the Ljikina fairies? Are they safe?"**

Emberis, standing tall and composed beside Ethan, nodded. "They’re safe, Aarthel. No Dihodos in mand now."

Kanthia’s expression softened as she gave a small nod of approval**. "Good work, Guardian."**

Ethan leaned forward with a mock pout, clearly fishing for some recognition. "And what about me? What’s my share?" he asked, his voice carrying a playful note, knowing Kanthia deliberately avoided praising him.

Kanthia smirked, her tone equally teasing. "No praise for you when you’re sending me such... beautiful gifts," she said, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm.

Emberis chuckled, unable to hold back her laughter. Ethan groaned dramatically, but with a smile tugging at his lips.

"Yeah, yeah, just keep her frozen until I come back," Ethan said, waving it off.

Kanthia nodded once more, her projection flickering slightly before disappearing as the Bracon call ended. The surrounding fell silent for a moment, the weight of their successful mission settling over them.

----------------------------------------

The scene then shifted, transitioning smoothly to the vibrant streets of Dvub Mand. Bright, shimmering lights dotted the air, and the Ljikina fairies, had come out of their homes. They filled the street, cheering and calling Ethan’s name as he and Emberis walked down the cobbled path. Ethan's small frame was almost hidden beside Emberis, but her hand held his firmly, her large fingers wrapping around his like they belonged there.

One of the Ljikina fairies came forward, her voice full of gratitude. "Thank you, Savior Ethan!"

Another fairy quickly followed, her voice shaking slightly with guilt. "We are so sorry... we doubted you before."

Ethan smiled kindly, his humility shining through**. "It’s okay,"** he replied softly.

Yet another Ljikina fairy, this one younger, approached with wide eyes. "What about the Ogmis Dihodos? Is she gone?"

Emberis, standing protectively beside Ethan, answered reassuringly. "She’s under control now. No danger anymore."

A third fairy, this one older, called out emotionally. "You saved my Aul... Thank you, Savior."

Ethan’s smile grew warm, and he gently shook his head. "No need to thank me. Just take care of her."

Cheers of joy erupted once more as the crowd of fairies gathered closer, surrounding Ethan and Emberis with warmth and gratitude. The air buzzed with excitement, their voices filling the streets as more fairies joined in the celebration, each expressing their thanks. Ethan and Emberis became the center of attention, walking slowly through the sea of fairies, her large hand still holding his in a way that made Ethan feel both safe and cherished.

One Ljikina fairy, her voice trembling with excitement, called out from the crowd**. "Please, come to our home! Let us thank you properly!"**

Ethan gave a polite shake of his head. "No, thank you. We really appreciate it, but... can you just tell us where Vyrella’s house is?"

Suddenly, the cheerful atmosphere evaporated. The fairies fell into an eerie silence, their joyous faces turning apprehensive. The tension was almost palpable as they shifted uncomfortably, exchanging nervous glances.

Emberis frowned, her sharp instincts immediately picking up on the change. "What’s going on? Why are you all so...?"

As the crowd fell into a tense silence, a small voice timidly broke through from somewhere among the Ljikina fairies.

Ethan, confused, looked around at the uneasy faces. "Did I ask something wrong?"

The fairies hesitated, their eyes darting between each other. None of them seemed willing to answer, their voices caught in their throats. What had been a scene of celebration moments ago now felt laden with uncertainty, as if the mere mention of Vyrella had shifted the mood completely.

Ljikina Fairy: "They... they don’t have a home."

Ethan, visibly confused, furrowed his brow. "What?"

Another fairy, answered, her voice trembling with discomfort. "Those two, Caly and Vyrella... they’re cursed. No one wants to be near them."

A third Ljikina fairy added with more conviction, as if trying to justify it**. "And We’re certain that Ogmis Dihodos came as punishment for our sin... for letting them stay in our mand. Our Phinix has punished us."**

Ethan’s patience began to fray, his frustration palpable in his clenched fists**. "What? Are you guys..."** He paused, his voice rising as he struggled to contain his anger**. "I showed you there’s no such thing as a curse! You believe in your Phinix—great, fine, I don’t care. But this whole ‘curse’ thing? It’s wrong. They’re fairies, just like you."**

One of the fairies, her expression hardened by years of ingrained beliefs, stepped forward, her voice cold. "We are grateful, Savior, that you saved us... but say one more word against our beliefs, and we will not hesitate to take your light"

That was the breaking point, Emberis’s protective instincts roared to life. She immediately stepped forward, yanking Ethan behind her with one swift motion. Her towering frame loomed over the fairies as her hands began to glow a searing red, the hot flames emanating from her skin palpable even from a distance. Her eyes blazed with fury, almost literally, as flames flickered in them.

"Take one breath near him, and it will be your last," she warned, her voice dangerously low but filled with lethal intent.

The crowd, once confident in their threat, recoiled in terror at the sight of Emberis’s raw power. Her flaming hands and the intensity in her voice sent them stumbling backward, their courage quickly dissolving into fear.

Seeing the situation escalate, Ethan stepped forward, gently placing a hand on Emberis’s waist to calm her down. "Emberis... let it go." His voice was soft but firm, his touch grounding her. "They don’t want to change. Let’s just find Vyrella and Caly."

Emberis, her rage still simmering, didn’t take her eyes off the crowd. Her flames flickered, threatening to lash out**. "You all should be thankful he’s so kind and humble,"** she spat, before finally relenting, her form slowly returning to its usual, beautiful self as the flames dissipated.

Together, they walked away from the crowd, leaving the Ljikina fairies in their fear and confusion. Emberis’s anger ebbed with each step, though she kept glancing back, her protective nature never fully at rest.

As they wandered through the winding streets of the mand, the mood between them became somber.

Ethan sighed, his thoughts still swirling with frustration. "Still the same problem. Earth, here—it doesn’t matter. Superstitions cling like a disease. I showed them the truth, but they’re still stuck in their fears."

Emberis looked down at him, her voice more composed now. "Let it go, Ethan. Our task was to protect them from the Dihodos. We did that. We’re clear."

"I know..but….I just feel bad for Vyrella and Caly," Ethan muttered, his eyes clouded with concern**. "Caly is all she has left, and today... she was about to lose even her."**

Emberis’s voice softened, filled with quiet determination**. "We will find them."**

They walked in silence, scanning the streets for any sign of the two outcasts. After a while, they spotted something that made Ethan’s heart sink. Tucked away in the shadows, near a pile of discarded refuse, they found Vyrella and Caly.

Caly lay weak, almost unconscious, barely clinging to life. Her fragile form shivered with each shallow breath. Vyrella, disheveled and exhausted, was digging through a heap of garbage, desperately searching for anything that could be of use. The sight was a far cry from the vibrant, dignified fairy they once knew.

Ethan rushed over, his voice full of concern. "Vyrella... Vyrella!"

Startled, Vyrella spun around, her eyes wide with shame. She quickly hid her dirty hands behind her back, trying to conceal the degrading reality of her situation. Her lips trembled as she forced a smile, her pride crumbling before her Savior.

Vyrella: "S-Savior Ethan..." She began to bow, a gesture of respect, but Ethan quickly stopped her, placing a gentle hand on her arm.

Ethan: "No, don’t do that... what are you doing here?"

Vyrella couldn’t meet his eyes, the shame of her situation too great to bear. She hesitated, her gaze falling to the ground.

It was Emberis who spoke, her voice low but clear, the sorrow evident. "She’s looking for food... to help Caly."

The weight of the scene hung heavy between them.

Ethan’s heart broke as he looked at them.

Ethan looked deeply into Vyrella's eyes, hoping to connect with her, but she averted her gaze, fear etched on her face.

Ethan (looking up at her earnestly): "Vyrella. Come with us."

Vyrella's voice trembled with disbelief. "What... Where? Savior Ethan? I... I can’t..."

Emberis stepped in, her tone firm yet gentle. "Come with us to Ignis. We can't let you stay here..."

Panic flashed across Vyrella's features as she instinctively stepped back, her eyes wide with horror**. "No. No... they will... they will kill us both... No... no..."**

Ethan frowned, his brow furrowing with concern. "Who? Tell us? We'll protect you..."

Vyrella shook her head vehemently. "Savior... E-Ethan... you... no... leave us here..."

Emberis placed a reassuring hand on Vyrella's shoulder**. "Vyrella... please, tell us who’s after you."**

As if Emberis's touch had made her shrink, Vyrella stepped back again, her expression one of dread. "No... no... don’t touch us... or they will think you are cursed too."

Ethan's frustration boiled beneath the surface. "There’s no such thing as a curse. You are coming with us. I’ll help you and Caly. That’s final."

Vyrella's voice turned desperate, her fear palpable. "No! No! Savior, please don’t... they will..."

"Vyrella," Emberis interjected, her voice steady, "calm down... You will be safe with us..."

With determination in his eyes, Ethan pulled out his tablet and, with a few quick touches, summoned the Mini-Dyfost. A bright light enveloped them, and the small, shimmering vessel materialized before them.

Ethan gestured towards it. "Get in, Vyrella. You’re coming with us."

Emberis rushed to Caly, who was slumped against the wall, her frail body barely holding on. With gentle care, she picked Caly up and carried her toward the Mini-Dyfost.

As Vyrella stood there, tears streaming down her cheeks, she whispered, "Thank you... thank you... Savior... both of you..."

Ethan smiled softly at her, his heart aching for her plight**. "No, you’re thanking me by showing the best place,"** he said, trying to uplift her spirits.

But Vyrella's tears kept flowing, her sorrow overwhelming. Ethan reached out and tugged at her dirty hand. She instinctively tried to pull it back, but he held on gently, refusing to let go. He guided her down until she knelt in front of him. With tender care, Ethan wiped her tears away with his thumb.

"Don't cry. I want you to be happy and smiling," he said, his voice warm and soothing.

Through her tears, Vyrella managed a faint smile, and Ethan felt a small surge of hope. "I can’t leave you here with these Phinix-believers. They treat you like a cursed one. But you are not," he assured her.

With a soft sob, Vyrella whispered, "Thank you."

Ethan took her hand firmly in his, a gesture of reassurance**. "Come on now. Come with us."** He led her to the Mini-Dyfost, and with all four of them safely inside, he initiated the launch sequence.

With a final touch of the controls, the Mini-Dyfost hummed to life, and in a blink of bright light, they were transported back to the Ignis realm.

As the familiar landscape of Ignis surrounded them, Ethan felt a sense of relief wash over him, knowing they had escaped the darkness of the Dvub Mand.

As the bright light of the Mini-Dyfost faded, Ethan stepped out first, scanning the familiar landscape of the Ignis realm. He felt a wave of calm wash over him, grounding his thoughts as he called out for a medic. Within moments, four Flysia fairies specializing in medical treatment arrived, wheeling two medic beds.

Emberis gently laid Caly down on one of the beds, her expression a mix of relief and concern. Vyrella was guided by the Flysia fairies, who reassured her with gentle words.

Ethan leaned closer to Vyrella, offering a warm smile. "You will be okay," he said, his voice steady and comforting.

The Flysia fairies took both of them for treatment, and Ethan exchanged a glance with Emberis, who seemed to glow with purpose.

Emberis beamed. "I am feeling so good right now. Helping them."

Ethan chuckled, his eyes sparkling. "Yeah, me too." He looked up at her, suddenly noticing her misty eyes. "Are you crying?"

Emberis swiped at her cheeks, a few stray tears escaping. "No..." she insisted, but the tremor in her voice betrayed her.

They both laughed, the sound light and infectious, dissolving the tension in the air.

The scene then fades away.

----------------------------------------

The scene fades in the Chamber of Aisling, the Elden of the Ignis realm.

Ethan stood in the center, radiating his usual charm and calm demeanor, even amid the grand chamber’s solemnity.

Aisling regarded him with appreciation. "You proved once again, Ethan. We are truly thankful to you."

Ethan waved off the praise, his modesty shining through. "It’s nothing. All I am doing is helping you."

Amiraha, the Erudite fairy, smirked. "You enjoy showing off, don’t you?"

Ethan grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, yes to you and no to others."

They both stuck out their tongues playfully, a teasing exchange that only strengthened their bond.

Kanthia, interjected with curiosity. "What about your two new fairies you brought here?"

Ethan's expression grew serious as he recounted**, "They were in the Dvub Mand. The Ljikina fairies there say that they are cursed."**

Aisling raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And you didn't believe it?"

Ethan shook his head, his resolve unwavering. "Of course not. How could I leave them there to suffer their whole lives?"

Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.

Aisling’s tone shifted, her concern evident**. "Ethan, I’m telling you this not as an Elden, but as a fairy: try to keep away from their beliefs and rituals. You cannot change them."**

Ethan’s playful tone took on a more serious edge. "I know I can’t change them. But... I can save those who want to change."

Kanthia crossed her arms, a hint of exasperation in her voice. "Ethan, you’ve already done so much for us. Why bother with such things now?"

Amiraha chimed in, her eyes glinting with admiration. "Because he knows the true value of love and freedom."

Ethan raised an eyebrow at Amiraha, his playful smirk returning. "Wow, Amiraha... you’re right for first time in your life."

Amiraha tossed her hair back. "I’m always right."

Aisling’s expression softened, her gaze filled with understanding. "We know what you face in your realm, and you don’t want this to happen here. We’re grateful for this. But Thalassa is not happy with you right now."

Ethan waved a hand dismissively. "Don’t worry. I’ll make her see reason. She still owes me a favour."

Aisling smiled at his charm, her expression approving**. "Alright then. Take care of your new fairies."

Ethan looked up at Aisling, his voice earnest. "Elden, I want you to permit them to join the force or whatever work they want to do. Please."

Aisling nodded, her demeanour thoughtful. "If they want to join the force, I’ll leave it to you, Kanthia. If they want to do anything else, they are free to choose, after they are clear."

Ethan felt a surge of gratitude**. "Thank you."**

With that, he exited the chamber, his heart light and his mind racing with possibilities.

As the door closed behind him, Kanthia turned to Aisling, a playful grin on her face. "We are getting under his charm and debt day by day."

Amiraha, unable to contain her laughter, added, "We already are!"

The chamber filled with warmth and camaraderie as they all shared a moment of light-heartedness, united in their newfound hope.

Ethan made his way to the ward where Vyrella and Caly were resting. The sterile scent of the medical bay mixed with the hum of advanced machines as he entered. Vyrella already seemed well on her way to recovery, though Caly still appeared weak, her face pale but calm. Emberis was already there, sitting beside the two.

Flamia, the Flysia fairy (doctor), gave Ethan a mock look of exasperation as she saw him enter**. "You always bring them when they’re on the brink of death."**

Ethan, flashing his signature grin, responded smoothly, "Because I trust you, Flamia. I know you’ll save them." His charm was irresistible, even in the face of serious situations.

Flamia chuckled, shaking her head. "You can never be serious."

"Nope!" Ethan replied, playful as ever. "But how are they?"

Flamia softened, her professional tone returning. "They’re fine now. You can go talk to them."

With a grateful nod, Ethan stepped inside the ward. The room was equipped with the finest and most advanced medical tools Ignis had to offer, giving off a soft glow of hope.

He approached the two patients. "Caly, Vyrella," he called softly as he neared their beds.

Seeing him, both fairies tried to sit up, but Ethan quickly raised a hand. "Hey, no no no, take it easy. Stay lying down. Make yourselves comfortable."

Caly, still weak but smiling, looked at him with tired eyes**. "Thank you, savior,"** she whispered, her voice soft but filled with gratitude.

Ethan sits beside her on her bed, and Emberis joined him, standing by his side**. "Just call me Ethan,**" he replied with a gentle smile. "How are you feeling now?"

Caly managed a weak smile, her voice barely above a whisper. "Surprised."

Ethan chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling. "Well, get used to it. You’re staying here now."

Caly smiled more fully this time. "Thank you. Thank you for saving us."

Before Ethan could respond, Emberis chimed in. "You should thank Vyrella. She’s the one who saved you."

Caly nodded slowly, her gaze shifting toward Vyrella. "I know... She let you take my blood. But it was you who worked your magic to save me." She smiled faintly at Vyrella, her voice sincere.

Vyrella, her expression soft but serious, added, "She’s right. You both saved us."

Ethan shrugged, his modesty shining through. "I was just trying to help. That’s all I did."

Caly, now with a glint of playful exhaustion in her eyes, replied**, "You always say that, don’t you?"**

Emberis snorted, crossing her arms with mock impatience. "Yeah, he does. And I’m sick of it," she teased, nudging Ethan lightly.

Ethan raised an eyebrow, playing along. "Really? Well, next time, I’ll say, ‘I was just making things worse, but they always end up working out in my favor.’ How about that?"

Emberis grinned widely. "Superb."

Laughter filled the ward, a rare but welcome sound amidst the beeping of medical devices.

Ethan, still smiling, stood up**. "Now, get better fast. I’ve cleared your records. You both can join whatever work you’d like here."**

Vyrella let out a sigh of relief, her eyes shining with gratitude. "That’s another weight off our shoulders. Thank you again."

Emberis grinned, squeezing Ethan in a tight hug, catching him off guard. "Except for his Guardian position," she declared with playful possessiveness, squeezing him tighter. "That’s reserved by me!"

The room burst into laughter again, the lighthearted moment easing the tension of their ordeal. Ethan, still in Emberis’s arms, rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide his smile**. "Of course, I’m already spoken for."**

And just like that, the ward felt less like a place of recovery and more like home—a place filled with warmth, humor, and the promise of new beginnings.

A few days had passed, and Caly and Vyrella had settled into their new lives in the realm. Vyrella had found her place at the observatory, joining the satellite wing where her skills were most useful. Caly, however, was torn. She stood by the window, staring down at the Yalzets—fairy soldiers in the training yard—determined to take a different path.

Vyrella entered the room, her face a mix of frustration and love. "Caly, come with me to the observatory. We don’t have to risk our lives again," she pleaded, her voice soft but firm.

Caly didn’t turn around, her eyes fixed on the Yalzets below. "I want to be like them," she said quietly. "I don’t want to run anymore."

Vyrella’s frustration bubbled to the surface**. "Running is all we’ve got right now, Caly!"** she exclaimed, her love for her friend evident in every word. "We both know we can’t hide here forever. Elite will find us one day."

Caly turned to face her, her expression resolute. "Then what’s the point of joining you at the observatory either? Hiding doesn’t solve anything."

Vyrella stepped closer, her voice softening. "You won’t have to go through the hard training or face the dangers they do. If we work at the observatory, we can monitor everything. We’ll always be one step ahead of them."

Caly shook her head. "I don’t care about them anymore. I just want to be with Ethan. Be his protector, like he protected us—fighting alone against the whole Mand. I want to be brave like him. I’m done running. If they find us again, this time, I’ll be the one fighting, not fleeing."

Vyrella, her eyes brimming with worry, reached out and placed a hand on Caly’s shoulder**. "I can’t lose you,"** she whispered, her voice breaking**. "You’re the only one I have left."**

Caly took Vyrella’s hand in hers, their bond unspoken but powerful. "And you’re the only one I have left too," she said softly. "I can’t lose you either."

They both chuckled, their shared pain lightened by their affection for each other. They pulled one another into a warm embrace, the weight of their past fading, if only for a moment.

Vyrella pulled back slightly, a playful smile crossing her lips**. "You know, I really wanted to see what you’d look like as a dihodos during your transformation,"** she teased, the humor easing the tension.

Caly grinned, playing along. "Then I guess you’d be my first target."

Vyrella rolled her eyes, laughing**. "Oh, please. I’d still be stronger than you. You’d be the one going down first."**

Caly raised an eyebrow, smirking**. "Stronger? Maybe. But I’ve always been faster. So by the time you realize what’s happening, I’ll already be standing over your knocked-out body."**

Vyrella burst out laughing, playfully shoving her friend. "In your dreams!"

Their laughter filled the room, the shared jokes and playful banter easing the heaviness of their decisions.

After the laughter subsided, Caly’s expression grew more serious. "Vy, I really want to be with Ethan. I can’t repay him for saving me from becoming a Dihodos. Protecting him... it’s the least I can do."

Vyrella sighed, her eyes softening as she gazed at her friend**. "I know how you feel. I owe him just as much for saving both of us." She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "I won’t force you to join the observatory with me anymore. If being by Ethan’s side is what makes you happy, then go. Do what feels right for you."**

Caly’s eyes glistened with gratitude. She stepped forward, wrapping Vyrella in a hug once more. They stood there for a long moment, their bond deepening with each passing second. Despite the uncertainty of the future, one thing was clear: their friendship, forged in hardship, would only grow stronger.

Kanthia’s sharp voice echoed across the training field, her presence formidable as she stood before the Yalzets. The squad snapped to attention, their responses strong and unified. All but one stood tall, the rest unwavering in their discipline. Kanthia: "Who are you?"

All Yalzets: "We are the Saviours!" they shouted in unison, their voices filled with pride and determination. Kanthia’s steely gaze swept across the group, assessing their readiness. But her eyes lingered on Caly, who stood at the back, her posture slightly off, her breathing heavy from the intense drills. She had the heart but not the skillset—yet. Kanthia: "What are you fighting for?"

All Yalzets**: "For our realms!"** came the thunderous reply. But Caly’s voice was noticeably quieter, barely keeping up with the chant. Kanthia’s sharp eyes immediately locked onto her.

Kanthia: "What about you?" she called out, her voice cutting through the air like a blade. "What are you fighting for?"

Caly froze. Her heart raced, but not from exhaustion this time—it was from fear and shame. She knew she was behind, knew she wasn’t performing like the others. Her body still ached from the brutal training regimen, her mind trying to keep pace with the relentless expectations. But despite her doubts, she straightened herself and met Kanthia’s gaze.

Caly: "I’m fighting... to protect those who saved me." Her voice was firm, but there was vulnerability beneath it.

The other Yalzets remained silent, sensing the tension in the air. Kanthia took a step closer to Caly, her powerful presence overwhelming.

Kanthia: "That’s not enough." She crossed her arms, her expression stern. "In this field, your past doesn’t matter. Your connections don’t matter. Only your strength and your will matter. Do you think you have what it takes to fight beside the best?"

Caly swallowed hard. She wanted to prove herself, but the truth was undeniable—she wasn’t ready. She glanced around, seeing the other Yalzets standing tall, their experience showing in every movement. She didn’t want to admit defeat, but her hesitation betrayed her.

Kanthia: "Answer me!" she barked, her tone as harsh as ever. "Do you have what it takes, or do you want to keep lagging behind, letting others fight for you?"

Caly’s eyes narrowed as something sparked inside her—a mix of anger and determination. She clenched her fists, feeling the weight of her own insecurities but also the fire igniting within her.

Caly: "I have what it takes. I will learn. I will fight." Her voice, though not as loud as the others, had a steady resolve.

Kanthia stared at her for a moment, then nodded, almost imperceptibly. Her expression remained hard, but there was a flicker of acknowledgment.

Kanthia: "You better. Because out here, there’s no room for weakness. No room for second chances." She turned to address the rest of the Yalzets. "All of you, remember this—if one of you falters, you all fall. You rise as one, or you fail as one. Understood?"

All Yalzets: "Yes, Aarthel!" they shouted back, the ground vibrating with their collective force.

Kanthia gave one final look at Caly before turning away, her commanding voice echoing over the field. "Get back to training. And don’t stop until you can call yourselves Saviours with pride!" Caly stood there, her body still trembling from exhaustion, but her mind was sharper now. She would push herself harder. She would prove she belonged here. And even if she had to claw her way up to the level of the others, she would fight for Ethan, for her realm, and for herself.

In the same day evening, Caly stood at the door, her hand hovering over the frame as doubt gnawed at her. Every muscle in her body screamed to retreat, to run away from the lab and the shame she felt after today’s training. Her mind told her that Ethan wouldn’t want to see her, not after how she lagged behind the others. But her heart—her heart longed to hear his voice, the voice that always gave her strength. Mustering every ounce of courage, she raised her hand and knocked gently.

Caly: "Can I come in?" she whispered, her voice so soft it was barely audible.

Inside, Ethan was hunched over his workbench, engrossed in tinkering with a half-finished weapon. The lab was alive with buzzing machines and faint holographic projections floating mid-air. Emberis sat near him, softly humming a tune to herself, her presence calm and protective as always. Hearing the knock, Ethan looked up from his work, his face lighting up with that familiar, warm smile.

Ethan: "Caly!" he greeted her with genuine warmth, his charm making the air feel lighter. Emberis smiled, turning her gaze to the door.

Emberis: "Please, come in," she said softly, her eyes welcoming. Caly stepped in slowly, her eyes widening as she took in the chaos of the lab—scattered tools, half-assembled machines, and the hum of strange devices. It was a world so different from hers, and yet, here she was.

Emberis noticed her awe and chuckled lightly. Emberis: "Welcome to Ethan’s lab—no, Ethan’s disastrous lab," she teased, casting a playful glance at Ethan. Ethan chuckled, not missing a beat.

Ethan: "Hey, disaster is just another word for innovation. I’m creating new ways to make messes efficiently." Caly tried to smile at the joke, but her nerves held her back.

Caly**: "I... I..."** She stammered, her voice barely holding together as she hesitated to complete her thought. Ethan’s smile faltered, sensing the shift in her tone. He straightened up, his playful demeanour softening into concern.

Ethan: "Caly, are you okay?" he asked gently, his eyes searching her face. Caly looked down at the floor, her fingers gripping the edge of her tunic.

Caly: "Yes... I’m okay." Ethan exchanged a glance with Emberis, who gave a slight nod.

Ethan: "Come here. Sit with us," he offered, his tone light yet reassuring. But Caly hesitated, her gaze still fixed on the ground.

Caly: "No... I’m not allowed to sit with Savior," she muttered, her voice filled with uncertainty. Emberis, ever the calming presence, smiled warmly and reached out to reassure her.

Emberis: "Caly, it’s alright. Yalzet rules don’t apply here in Ethan’s lab. Or should I say, Ethan’s disastrous lab," she teased again, throwing a wink at Ethan.

Ethan shook his head, chuckling softly.. Ethan: “Oh, come on, Em.”

Emberis winked at him, giggling softly. “Aww, but you’re so adorable when teased, how could I resist?”

Ethan chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully. “I’ll deal with you later.” He turned back to Caly, his voice gentle again. “But first... come here and sit with us, Caly.”

Emberis: "You’re among friends here." Caly hesitated for a moment before walking over and sitting down, her gaze still downcast, avoiding their eyes.

Caly**: "Thank you."

Ethan: "No need to thank us," he said lightly, but his voice quickly grew more serious as he leaned in slightly. "Tell us, what’s going on? You look sad. Did someone scare you or something?" Caly shook her head quickly, her hands tightening into fists on her lap.

Caly: "No... no, it’s just..." she trailed off, unable to finish. Emberis placed a gentle hand on Caly’s shoulder, her touch soft yet comforting.

Emberis: "Caly, it’s okay. You can tell us. Are you afraid of something?" Caly closed her eyes for a moment, trying to gather the courage to speak. Finally, she exhaled shakily.

Caly: "No... I…I.. thought you….you would be disappointed in me... so I came here to apologize." Ethan furrowed his brow in confusion.

Ethan**: "Disappointed? Disappointed for what?"** Caly struggled to speak, her shame keeping her silent. Emberis, sensing her difficulty, spoke up for her, her voice calm and understanding.

Emberis: "She’s worried because she’s lagging behind in her training." Caly gasped softly, her eyes widening in surprise. She hadn’t expected Emberis to say it so plainly, a burden she had been carrying so heavily for herself. Ethan’s face softened even more as he leaned closer.

Ethan: "No... no one here is disappointed in you, Caly. There’s no need to apologize for anything." Caly shook her head, tears threatening to well up in her eyes.

Caly: "But I feel... I feel ashamed. You saved me, and I can’t even..." her voice cracked. Ethan’s expression turned serious, but his eyes were filled with warmth as he spoke.

Ethan: "Caly, look at me." He waited, his voice calm but firm. Slowly, Caly raised her gaze from the floor to meet his. "I didn’t save you and Vyrella because I wanted you to become a Yalzet and risk your life. No. I would never. I saved you because I couldn’t let you suffer for the rest of your life there. That’s all." Emberis nodded in agreement, her hand still on Caly’s shoulder.

Emberis: "Caly, I know how you feel. You want to help him in any way you can. But all this rascal wants," she teased, glancing at Ethan with a grin, "is for you to be happy and smiling. That’s all that matters to him. Trust me."

Caly blinked, her heart swelling with gratitude and relief. She hadn’t expected this—she had come to apologize, but instead, she was being comforted, reassured. She had found love and understanding where she had feared disappointment. Emberis smiled warmly.

Emberis: "Come on, let’s get some air. You need a break." Caly nodded, feeling a small smile creep onto her face. For the first time that day, she felt like she belonged.

As Emberis and Caly sat on the bench in the quiet, moonlit garden, a gentle breeze rustled through the leaves, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The tension in Caly's body slowly eased, though her gaze remained downcast, tracing invisible lines on the ground. Emberis sat beside her, patient and understanding, giving Caly the space she needed to gather her thoughts.

Caly spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “Thank you, Guardian.”

Emberis leaned closer, a warm smile on her face. “It’s just Emberis. No need for titles here. Let’s be friends and talk like friends.”

Caly hesitated, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her tunic**. “But you’re a Guardian. You’re... higher in rank than me.”**

Emberis shook her head gently, her eyes sparkling with kindness. “Caly, no. Not here. No Yalzet rules, no ranks. Just you and me. Let’s talk like equals, okay?”

Caly looked up for the first time, her eyes wide with a mixture of confusion and hope. Slowly, she nodded. “Okay.”

“Good,” Emberis said, her voice filled with warmth. “Now, tell me what’s really bothering you.”

Caly opened her mouth, then closed it again, her throat tightening as she tried to find the words**.”Umm…it's ..it..”**

Emberis, sensing her struggle, placed a comforting hand on Caly’s shoulder.

“It’s okay, Caly. You can tell me. I’m here to listen.”

“I... I feel ashamed,” Caly finally confessed, her voice trembling. “I thought Ethan would be upset with me... after he found out I’m falling behind in training. I’m not strong like the others. And... I thought... I thought he would be disappointed in me.”

Emberis nodded, her eyes full of understanding. “You joined the forces because you wanted to be strong enough to protect him, didn’t you? To repay him for saving you.”

Caly’s breath hitched, her surprise evident. “How did you know?”

“Because I see it in your eyes,” Emberis said softly. “I know that look—the desire to be worthy, to repay someone for their kindness. You want to protect him, don’t you? Like he saved you.”

Caly’s gaze dropped again, her voice quiet. “Yes. He saved me, and Vyrella, and I thought the only way I could repay him was by being strong enough to save him one day. But... I’m not like the others. I’m not... enough.”

Emberis tilted her head, her tone gentle but firm. “Caly, you’re more than enough. And do you really think breaking your body with all that intense training will make him happy? Never. If you’re not happy with it, don’t force yourself.”

Caly looked up, her eyes filled with uncertainty. “But... I want to help him. I want to take care of him.”

Emberis softened, her hand still resting on Caly’s shoulder, offering a quiet strength. “You can protect him in more ways than just fighting, Caly. You don’t have to be a warrior to make a difference in his life. You can help him in other ways ”

“How?” Caly asked, her voice laced with doubt**. “How can I help him? He doesn’t need someone like me... he has all of you—strong, capable fairies. I’m... nothing compared to you.”**

Emberis sighed softly, her expression filled with empathy. “Caly, you mean something to him. You mean a lot more than you think.”

Caly’s eyes widened, confusion crossing her face. “How? Why would I mean anything to him?”

Emberis took a deep breath, her voice low and sincere. “Because he fought for you. When everyone else said you were cursed, when no one believed in you, he did. He went against the Mand, risking everything to make sure you and Vyrella were safe. He stood up for you when no one else would. Doesn’t that tell you something?”

Caly was quiet for a long moment, her mind processing Emberis’ words. Slowly, the weight of shame began to lift from her heart, replaced by something else—something warmer**. “He did all that... for me..”**

Emberis smiled softly, her eyes gleaming in the moonlight**. “Yes, he did. And he’s not disappointed in you, Caly. He cares about you, and all he wants is for you to be happy. He doesn’t want you pushing yourself too hard or hurting yourself trying to prove something.”**

Caly’s heart swelled, her chest tight with emotion. For the first time in a long while, she felt understood, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders. “But... I still want to help him,” she said, her voice more determined this time, though it still trembled with vulnerability. “I want to do something for him.”

Emberis gave her a knowing smile. “Then ask him. Ask him if he needs your help. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it, no matter what it is. Helping him doesn’t always have to be about fighting or training. Sometimes, it’s just about being there for him.”

A small smile began to bloom on Caly’s face, tentative but genuine. “You’re right. I’ll ask him. I’ll try to help him in any way I can.”

“There’s the Nathris smile,” Emberis said with a playful grin. “You look beautiful when you smile, you know that?”

Caly let out a soft chuckle, the sound surprising her as much as it delighted Emberis. For the first time that evening, the weight of her insecurities felt a little lighter.

Emberis chuckled along with her, her voice light and teasing. “See? You already make things brighter just by being yourself.”

As their laughter faded into the night, Caly felt a sense of relief wash over her. She wasn’t alone in this journey, and for the first time, she felt like maybe, just maybe, she was enough.

They sat there in the garden, two friends under the stars, the soft hum of the night surrounding them as Caly’s heart began to heal, one smile at a time.
