When I took a good look at my stats, I felt like becoming a character in a game. However, I tilted my head a little in confusion.
Obviously, the HP represent health while MP was magic power. ATK, DEF, SPD, and INT respectively symbolized attack strength, defense, speed, and intelligence.
I’m surprised that my INT is high, but I think that was due to the experiences of traveling with my uncle. What surprises me the most is that my Class doesn’t show anything. I don’t know what this means, but I’ll know that it might attract some attention towards me.
While I was in thought, the Head Priest Yulyana continued to explain about the Status Cards.
(Yulyana) “Has everyone take a good look at their stats? Good, then let’s get things forward. First, let go over “level”. When you increase your level, your stats will increase along with it. There is no known limit of how much can humans level up so you all must increase your stats beyond the limits! The current highest level known for humans is 223.”
Wow, that was high. I bet that his way to encourage us to get stronger.
(Yulyana) “Also, your stats will also increase through the use of Relics, powerful tools that will give you an advantage in battles. The process of creating powerful Relics are varied, sometimes difficult and some take longer to complete. Afterwards, look forward to the gear we selected for you. After all, you are the heroes. The national treasury is being used to supply you!”
While he explaining this to us, I take a quick peek at everyone’s expressions and they look more excited than I thought.
(Yulyana) “So…let’s see everyone’s stats. For example, the average person has stats of around 10 at level 1. Well, you all should have several times higher than that. Please give reports on what your status plate says. This is so we can develop a training regimen that fits each of you.”
The average person at level 1 has stats around 10. I look at my stats once more and felt relief that I’m not of the weak character type from the templates. However, this gives me a new worry when Hikaru shows off his stats.

(Yulyana) “Oh! Just as I expected from the hero! Usually, a person only has 2 to 3 skills and a few magicians have at least 1 or 2 types of magic! Also, you have a rare skill Limit Break! This is very impressive for someone of your level.”
(Hikaru) “Heh heh heh…”
Hikaru scratches his head in embarrassment at Yulyana’s praise as the head priest continues to investigate the student’s status. It seems each one has superior stats, although not as good as Hikaru, they can still be considered cheats. Furthermore, a lot of them are combat classes, the type that these people want.
This is bad. Although my skills and magic aren’t worse, my stats are higher than Hikaru and it didn’t even have a class. If this gets out, it will be harder for me to get out of this place. These people will definitely try to keep me here for their own personal gain. I need to find a way to trick them! Wait… Trick?
When I think of that and look at my status, I curiously tap on one magic I have, “Tricksters Touch” and a voice suddenly speaks in my head. It seems that this thing has a function of explaining the skills or magic I have.
Tricksters Touch Imagine the magic power gathering in your finger and rewrite any information on the surface. The effects will last as long as the user desires. Cost 20 MP.
What a handy skill! Just what I needed for the moment! Suddenly, I heard a commotion from a different direction as I was about to use magic.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
(Yulyana) “Oh, my… This is a surprise. It seems that your stats are average as a normal person. Also, your Class is an Alchemist which is a non-combat class…”
(Boy?) “W-Wait! I can still fight among the others! I want to help out too!”
Yulyana expresses his disappointment towards the boy, Hisao Ashitaba, as the latter desperately tries to reason with him.
Hisao Ashitaba is a quiet boy with black hair and short stature. His appearance is ordinary and his status in class is a loner. He’s usually sit in the back of the class quietly and doesn’t interact a lot with the students at the school.

His status are very average, definitely not useful in a real battle. Furthermore, he has only had two skills and one magic, which they don’t look very strong at all.
Seeing the commotion, Yaiba took this chance to harass him as he came over with his two lackeys, Genjiro Kimura and Ryo Yamashita.
(Yaiba) “What this, Ashitaba? Are your stats average~? How lame. Fu~Hahahaha.”
(Genjiro) “Kya~hahah, how are you going to fight with that?”
(Ryo) “No doubt you’re going to be dead sooner than expected! “Hi~hahahah!”
(Hisao) “Guuurrr~...”
Three bullies laugh at his predicament as Hisao groans at this. Yaiba likes to bully someone weaker than him to make him feel superior and his lackeys joined the fun as well. However, that doesn’t help increase his chances with his crush as Kiyoko and her friends had a very unpleasant expression at the bullying. The students also look at the scene frowned at this, but they didn’t bother happening him. Although we are classmates, that was only this extension of our relationship. Hoshino-sensei tries to stop their bullying as I about to start my plan.
I feel bad for Hisao, but I’m the same as these people since I don’t have a strong connection with him. Taking this chance without everyone noticing, I activate my magic quietly to change my Status Card.
(Shinji) “Tricksters Touch…”
When I recite word while imagining the magic power into my ring finger, it starts to glow a little before scribbling down on the card. Yulyana resumes the inspection of the student’s status until it is eventually my turn. I hand over my rewritten Status Card and here is the information.

(Yulyana) “Your stats are above average than a normal people at that level, but your skills and magic are a bit lacking… I’ve hoped that you keep up your training, young man.”
(Shinji) “I’ll take your word for it.”
Yulyana gives out his evaluation before handing my card back. I managed to keep a straight face while answering him, but inwardly I chuckle a little seeing that my trick has worked. I lower my stats and omitted a few of my skills and magic while making fake ones to make look that I’ve barely passed the qualification. I’m worried that I might get kicked earlier if I lower my stats too much.
Yaiba and his two lackeys took this chance to bully me as they came over and harassing me harder than Hisao have. I look around to see that some students, especially the boys, in particular, were grinning at my misfortune. That’s how unpopular I am, but I continue to ignore them until Kiyoko and Hoshino-sensei angrily shout out to them.
……………
It seems my fears are unfounded as they bother continuing to let Hisao stay. The head priest goes over more about skills, classes, and magic before ending the discussion.
A banquet was held after to celebrate the new hope for these people and we were able to enjoy this world’s cuisine.
After we finished with dinner, each of us was lead to our own room which is their way showing their hospitality. Also, they also would provide shelter, food, and clothing for all of us and handpicked suitable instructors for our training. They wanted to develop our friendship for the incoming war.
I was not the only one to be amazed by the luxurious room and bed that had a canopy over it, but I immediately got over my shocked and laid on the bed as I think about my future plans.
Although I managed to trick them for the moment, it won’t be long before they noticed something strange.
I can just ask permission to leave the palace directly. However, that might cause them to be suspicious of me and might send out someone to deal with me. Also, I don’t have a lot of information about this world and its rules so I decided to stay in order to gain some information and get a hang of my magic and skills.
For now, I decided to look at my skills and magic for the moment. I bring my Status Card and tap into the other magic that I have, “Familiar Creation Magic.”
Familiar Creation Magic
Hold your hands closely together and concentrate the magic power between them. Imagine what kind of qualities the familiar have and it will gain that property. The stronger the requirement, the more magic power will cost. When the familiar has been created, place the Seal of Contract and it will obey your command. The restriction will unable for you to gain or learn any magic except the ones you already have or any derivation-related magic.
{Empty(5)}
This magic is interesting. Although the downside that I won’t be able to gain any magic like Recovery, the idea of creating any kind familiar got me excited. If what this information said is true, then that means I have a wider range of different familiars for any situation, even having a familiar with healing factors!
Decided to try it out, I lift up my upper body in a cross-legged position and hold my hands near each other as I concentrate my magic power. I start off something simple like increasing my growth as I imagine the power of my familiar.
Suddenly, I feel my magic power being drain away quickly when a glow appears between my hands which brighten up my room. It only lasted a few seconds before the glowing stopped and I feel tired all of the sudden as I breathe heavily before looking at my work.
In front of me is an egg that’s the size of a football. It is colored in metallic bronze and doesn’t appear to be moving. I never imagined that my first familiar look like this until I realized that it is starting to hatch.
I held my breath in excitement as more cracks appearing until it is suddenly burst out in a puff of smoke. Cough! Cough! I’ve been coughing a little from the smoke before staring deeply at the hatch familiar.
Cute… Too cute. What I saw is a very cute creature when its opening its eyes.
It is a plump creature that resembles a cross between a cat and a dog. Its eyes resemble plus signs, a dog-like muzzle, and pointy ears. It has a white underbody and muzzle. The top half of its body is blue in color when it is curiously looking around before staring at me.
I timidly reached out my hand towards it and gently patting its head. It shows no wariness of my actions as it snuggles affectionately to my hand. How very cute.
I’m wondering how to establish a contract with it when a symbol appears on its chest while another on my hand. The symbol resembles a blackbird lifting up its wings in a fashionable way.
I was surprised by this when the hybridized cat-dog jumps on me and licking my face affectionately while wagging its tail.
(Cat-dog) “Wan! Wan!”
(Shinji) “Hey! That's tickles! Ha ha ha!”
I laugh from its ticklish licking before calming down the creature until a voice speaks out in my head to name the familiar. I look at it more closely when I found it has a similar feature like a Wandanyan, one of the characters from the Kingdom Heart series.
As if it was listening, the voice said that name has been registered before I have a chance to reconsidered. I look at my Status Card and saw that the name already printed on it while the Empty slot number changed to 4. Which means that I only have a limit number of familiars that I can carry. I also saw that it took 500 MP to create Wandanyan as my MP has been reduced.
I decided to not pry over the name since it suites him (I decided to call it he) as I pondered over of how to increase the slots before Wandanyan jumps on me to lick my face again. I’m looking forward to experimenting my power in another world.
What I don’t know at that time is this familiar of mine will cause big changes that shocked the world and those who very close to me.
