Did you ever wonder where the myths and legends of old came from?
Deep in outer space, in the wider universe right where everything began, sat a humongous being on a chair that seemed to be made out of diamond. Surrounding this figure were many beings: a monkey standing up straight, exuding a divine aura; a tall, muscular man with long blonde hair tied in a loose braid and a hammer that zapped out at the nothingness; a tall, slender figure named Ortus, who was known as God in the wider universe, neither male nor female but the start of the human line, not the creator as a certain planet was led to believe. There was a plethora of beings, all considered either gods or beings who could rival them, having been handpicked by the Creator to boost his overall strength in the Universe battles. He had a range of beings from a distant planet called Earth, all with excellent ability with Mana or Qi, allowing him to remain safe from the other universes. However, they were struggling against a new entity using beings of void that could infect and remain even after the battle had ended.
The Creator called this meeting of Earth delegates because he was going to do something no one thought he would after he said he wouldn't grab the best and the brightest from Earth anymore, as it was having little benefit with only 1 in 1,000,000 being anything good to cultivate and train to fight. What he needed was to move the energies that he had blocked from this planet years ago and funnel them back in, but use extra to increase the odds to 1 in 100,000. Slowly, he moved Immortal and Divine level Qi veins and Mana veins to Earth, installing them in key locations and allowing the planet to rapidly saturate, causing massive evolution and awakening among everything and everyone.
The only question brought up was by the Jade Emperor, whose powers were directly tied to the Heavenly Palace's forces and development. He asked, "My Lord, how would you train them and give them the techniques to activate the unique physiques and constitutions that allowed all of us to flourish?” The Creator, seeing the issue, said he had received an understanding that humans had this idea that the end of the world would be like a game system where they would have to fight monsters, find treasure, and complete quests. These systems would come with a new pack granting the person starting items and special circumstances if they performed the core use of the system, which would be different from the average person. The core goal of the system would be growth in their ideal study, whether Qi or Mana, whatever their body was suited to, or giving them the choice of the two. Some would be like the Jade Emperor, whose power came from the organisation rather than the individual, but no less ruthless. Others would come from internal or external means, whether that was Rune Master, Formations, Curse Specialist, Cleric, or Alchemist. Strangely enough, when the Creator was explaining the brief details of how he would raise them to godhood just like the others gathered, each one was excited to one day see these newcomers on the battlefield or just battling the new void infection.
After finishing, they launched the system and planted all the veins in an instant, causing mass panic and also death, given that the planet named Earth never stopped functioning day or night. The biggest killer of all, though, was something none of that power could imagine: the amount of panic upon discovering that monsters and myths were real, but the real monsters had been with them the entire time. I think if the Creator knew what was happening, he would probably pray for all the mortals.
It was a regular Wednesday, and the sun was not shining as usual because in dreary old Manchester, England, the sun was a rare occurrence. Claire Briggs was an average 27-year-old. She went to work, came home, and struggled to pay her bills, as is her lot in life, but she couldn't grumble. She made ends meet and managed a little break every year, so all was okay.

Work was a managerial role in a shop, with shifts that could change at a moment's notice. I was sitting doing the rotas for the next couple of weeks when suddenly the earth rumbled and the power went out. Once the power went out and nothing worked, I rang the boss, who was on holiday and had experienced a similar thing, and he told me to let everyone have a half day. So, once I locked up and pulled the shutter down—which, given how many businesses had upgraded to motor ones and were stuck waiting till the power came back on, we on the other hand were so under-invested that one swipe and it was done and locked. “Who said the older tech was useless?” With a smug grin, I wandered home to my crime-filled shithole that I was raised in, but home was home in this world of over-inflation. Getting in, I took my shoes off, showered, and got changed into jeans and a T-shirt. With nothing working, I decided to do my laundry when another quake happened, which was significantly rare in the UK, but maybe the climate crisis mob were right. Suddenly, while folding the dry clothes, a loud siren noise blared and a giant wall of text appeared in my vision.
“Greetings people of Earth. You might be noticing a lot of unusual activity that is causing issues in your life. I apologise for that, but as your Creator, I have decided you are to enter the universe battle alongside your Gods and Heroes of old. You will train and grow; unfortunately, a lot of you will die, and for that I am sorry, but for some of you, you can grow to heights never before imagined, being masters of your own fate. Those quakes you felt were me placing what you all need to cultivate into gods of my universe, and I will also grant you a system to help you all grow into beings able to defend our existence and grow. I hope you all understand I wouldn’t have done this if we had a choice, but we can only hold off the Void for another millennium. I will provide a system to help you and provide resources for doing quests and battling beings from other universes, all to help you grow in power. So grow, my children, and we all look forward to seeing you in the future.”
Gobsmacked, I stood there. “What the actual fuck” was all that I could manage. “Shit, all those novels and manga on the web I’ve read were right.” I hastily calmed myself, knowing that literally nothing was going to keep me calm, but the odd lie to myself never hurt. Taking a couple of breaths, I said, “System,” given that was usually how they opened in the books. The system sprung to life in front of me.
Human: Claire Briggs Spiritual Root: Divine Five Element Body: Chaos Divine Body Talent: Gain the abilities of everyone in your Sect. System: Divine Emperor's Sect System Cultivation: None Techniques: None Dao Insights: None Items: Jeans, T-Shirt
The system didn’t give much info, but the second I finished reading, a notification popped up. 'Do you want to open the Novice Gift Pack? This will make your life easier. We 100% suggest you open it.' Pressing open, the system popped up with six panels. The first one was the Chaos Divine Art; I figured that was because of my body and roots that had given me that. The Chaos Divine Art was written in a language I couldn’t understand, but all of a sudden thousands upon thousands of words were transported into my mind. After what felt like eternity, my system was something like this:
Human: Claire Briggs Spiritual Root: Divine Five Element Body: Chaos Divine Body Talent: Gain the abilities of everyone in your Sect. System: Divine Emperor's Sect System Cultivation: None Techniques: Chaos Divine Art Dao Insights: None Items: Jeans, T-Shirt
Having noticed that the technique was added, I received the second and third panels, which were Technique Pavilion and the Sect Master’s Abode. Deciding I had no immediate need for the buildings, I kind of ignored them and left them in my system inventory. The next two were a strange flame labelled the Flame of the Undying, a bright prismatic flame, and the other was a cauldron that had drawings of cities and beasts all seemingly in harmony but also conflict, called the Dragon Human Unity Cauldron. From my understanding, both of these were to be used in some form of alchemy, and given the system is a sect-building system, I probably have to be the one making pills for a while. Finally, the last one was an egg. The description of the egg read: 'Beast of Divine origin will hatch when incubated with a divine flame.'
