Two thousand years ago, the world of Aethrona was a place of harmony, with dwarves, humans, and elves coexisting and collaborating. However, as the humans rose to power through their technological advancements, they grew arrogant and attempted to enslave the dwarves and elves. Armed with the elves' knowledge of the weave and the dwarves' ancient craftsmanship, the two races fought back against the humans in an all-out war.

The humans were on the brink of defeat when a human with the gift of true sight summoned the God of Death to eradicate the dwarves and elves. This led to the extinction of the dwarves. In response, an elf who had mastered the weave destroyed the God of Death, sacrificing her life in the process.

But the war didn't end there. The humans and elves continued to wage war against each other for another five hundred years. Both sides suffered greatly until they finally agreed to a peace treaty, vowing to coexist once more.

However, over the next five hundred years, only the humans managed to recover. The elves, having lost most of their population in the war, struggled to procreate, leading to the endangerment of their kind. The remaining elves devoted their efforts to mastering the weave, hoping to find a way to revive their race one day.

But the human spellcaster who had once summoned the God of Death made a grave mistake by allowing it to walk the world. Now, it bides its time, waiting to be awakened once again.
