Upon hearing that Rosa was going to be okay, both Charles and Evelyn let out a huge sigh of relief. Evelyn's legs gave out for a moment as the tension left her body all at once. Charles instinctively reached out to steady her, but she shrugged him off, determined to stand on her own.
As they watched Rosa being wheeled out of the emergency room, they rushed over to her side.

Rosa had been out cold for an entire day and night, still not showing any signs of waking up. Dr. Nelson ran another thorough check-up to be sure. While Rosa's health seemed stable, when she'd wake up was still a mystery.

Later, Charles found himself back at Oakwood Manor. He was alone and retreating to the study. He fired up the cloud storage to review the saved surveillance footage. He pulled out all the clips that Charlie was in.
Five years back, Evelyn got pregnant with Charlie, but due to a misunderstanding, Charles had been distant throughout her pregnancy, only offering financial support. When it was time for the delivery, he ensured she had the best hospital, doctors, and postnatal care. He was even the first to hold little Charlie when she was born. But that was about the extent of his involvement. He was constantly busy and hardly ever made it back to Oakwood Manor. As Charlie grew, he was pretty much an absentee dad.
With a mix of emotions, Charles clicked on a video from years ago. It started with Evelyn bringing Charlie back home from the postnatal care center. He watched those sleepless nights when Charlie fussed, keeping Evelyn up.
He recalled one night, he did make it
back home after a long evening of socializing and drinks. He had left the hotel where he had first been
with Evelyn, five years prior, and net
asked Aiden to drive him back to Oakwood Manor. Evelyn had been thrilled to see him; it was his first visit since she left the care center.
"Charlie's just woken up; let me go get her," she had said. But Charles wasn't really focused on Charlie at that moment; his visit was for Evelyn. He wrapped his arms around her, picked her up, and told the nanny, "Make sure Charlie's looked after tonight."
With that, he made it clear: tonight was about them, no interruptions. He carried Evelyn to the master bedroom, locked the door, and laid her on the bed. In the middle of everything, he heard the nanny knocking, but he didn't catch what she said.
Evelyn had been cooperative, even though he wasn't exactly gentle. But when the knock came, she tried to move away. She insisted, "Hold on... It's probably Charlie crying. The nanny can't calm her. I need to check on Charlie and soothe her. I'll be back."
But Charles wasn't having it. He couldn't imagine the nanny couldn't handle a bit of fussing from Charlie. What was the point of hiring her if not for this? He cut Evelyn off with a kiss, ignoring her protests.
That night, he let out all the pent-up desire he'd been holding back and only released Evelyn after midnight. And then, he saw little Charlie in the footage with her tear-streaked face. She was red from crying, and her voice was hoarse. After Charlie was done, Evelyn, drained and sore, went to Charlie's room to comfort her. noveldrama
Charles had always thought Charlie adored him simply because of their blood bond But watching the footage, he realized it wasn't true. was all because of Evelyn. Charlie started recognizing people at just three months old. Charles hardly ever returned to Oakwood Manor, and when he did, it was always for Evelyn.
