3rd Chapter

The elevator door opened as we arrived at the 85th floor. We followed the men in black until we reached a big wooden door, well decorated with gold and silver detailing, with a sword in the middle surrounded by flames. The two men opened the door and stopped there as Theron and I continued with the old man into the bureau. It was a large room with one wall entirely made of glass and another wall lined with a very large library and a desk in front of it. As I turned my head to the right, I found a sofa and a small table. To the left, there was another big door, but with no decoration. The man asked us to sit on the sofa while he took a seat in his desk chair. He picked up a tablet from the desk and clicked here and there. Suddenly, the room darkened, and stars appeared on the ceiling and all over the walls, creating the sensation of being in the universe.

"Wow!" I exclaimed.

The old man reappeared in the middle of the room.

"Good afternoon, Lady Shinobara and Sir Theron. I didn't have the opportunity to introduce myself. I am Chris Daron, the Minister of Peace in the Minopolate Kingdom," the old man said.

I exchanged a glance with Theron.

"I understand that you've never heard of or known that this country has a Minister of Peace, but please listen. You're no longer ordinary people, so you have the right to know the truth. The story is a bit long, so just listen carefully until the end, even if the next part might sound like crazy nonsense. Save your questions until the end," he continued.

I shifted in my seat.

"Our world is structured in a unique way," he explained. "We are not the only living creatures in this world; there are more in other dimensions. Some are less advanced, while others are far more advanced than us. We can connect to these other dimensions through dungeons. Each dimension has five dungeons functioning as their main portals to other dimensions. The inhabitants of each dimension protect these dungeons from any dangers coming from the other sides. Now, for the protection process, individuals in each dimension start to manifest supernatural powers, which serve as the main defense of the world. These individuals are given these powers and are supposed to maintain peace in the world."

"The problem is that some dimensions, as I mentioned earlier, have found ways to access other dimensions without using the main dungeons. They are creating dungeons wherever they please. My current job is to find people with supernatural powers, support them, and help them become the future protectors of this land—the future 'Hunters.' As you may have noticed, you were chosen out of all those people to become the Hunters this year, with just the two of you. This is the year with the fewest number of chosen people. I know this may sound unbelievable, but believe me, you have your own powers, and now is the time to discover what they are. Let me introduce you to someone."

As he spoke, the other door on our left side opened, and the stars around us started to disappear. A young man entered. He looked strong, tall, and well-trained, wearing a white shirt and blue pants—the first person in this company I had seen wearing something other than a black suit.

"This is Ethan. As the name suggests, he's from the western parts of the kingdom. He was chosen around seven years ago at a younger age and is here to help discover your specialties," Mr. Daron said.

"Specialties are what distinguish you from other Hunters. Each chosen person has their own specialty. There may be people with the same specialty, but no one has two specialties at the same time, except for the White Tiger. The White Tiger is a Hunter who appears once in a century in one of the dimensions. They are chosen to be the main protector of all dimensions and are given the necessary power to fulfill this task. For example, if one's specialty is gravity and another's is time, a White Tiger may possess both. As for me, my role is to discover one's specialty. That's my specialty," Ethan explained.

"Now, for the main event today, we will be discovering your powers and preparing you to become Hunters," Mr. Daron continued. "I have high expectations for you two, especially you, Miss Shinobara. You are the youngest Hunters we've discovered so far. I believe you may be the one I've been hoping for all this time. You seem to have many questions. I can provide some answers, but for now, I'll only answer one question, so choose carefully."

"What happens when we discover our specialties?" Theron asked.

"You will be transferred to the Hunters University, where you will receive special training from teachers who will assist you according to the plan we have devised based on your specialties and abilities," Ethan answered.

There was a moment of silence.

"What about you, Miss Shinobara? You must have a question," Mr. Daron said.

"I... I have many questions, but since we're only allowed one, I must choose carefully. Um... Why do you think I'll be so important to you?" I asked.

"As expected from you, a single question with many answers. Well... I knew that there was a teacher who knew something about this world in your school, so I decided to investigate myself. While I was waiting in the car for one of my men to find out who the teacher was before I intervened, I felt it—a wave of powers I had never felt before. It made me nauseous. That was surely because of someone meant to be a Hunter. I glanced outside and saw you running to the school. Dizzy, I got out of the car and found the man I had sent already coming out, so I instructed him to follow you, but you were already gone. That's how I confirmed that you were one of the chosen people because that's my specialty—to determine if someone is chosen. A week after that, we came to meet you. I walked the hallways hoping to find other chosen ones besides you, but I felt nothing. However, once I stood in front of your classroom, I felt it again. When my men tested you with the mana tester, you showed incredible results, which are only seen in very few chosen ones. That's what made me think that you may be the White Tiger of this century," Mr. Daron explained.

I stared at him until Ethan said, "Now, young Hunters, follow me to find more answers," as he headed towards the big door he had entered from...
