An echo ran through the house and into her room, her eyes looking up from her book. As she looked up and out her door into the hallway, a small figure about the size of a cat ran by and to the stairs.
She gasped lightly and before running her hand up the pages of the book lightly until she reached the top, folding the corner down. Once she marked the page, she placed the book down on the middle of her bed. Moving her petite body to the edge of the bed as she moved her head to the side; getting a better view of the stairs in front of her. Raising her right eyebrow as she peered at them, concentrating on where the small cat had gone. Curiosity arose in her as she moved her hand up to her forehead, removing the hair that around her eyes.
She stood up and walked to her door, gazing over to the stairs. Narrowing her eyebrows and focused on the stairs in frustration. Sighing, she turned around and began to walk back to her bed as the door closed behind her. A loud slam was created as the door locked with a light click. Eyes widening as she turned around to look at the black door that hid any light from entering.
Her groans filled the room as she walked over to her window beside the bed. Unlocking the top of the window and lifted it upwards. She climbed out of the window and onto the balcony in front of it; her steps were light as she landed. Her steps were light as she turned around and closed it behind her. Going over to the steps on the side of the balcony and going down until she reached the ground. Running around to the front of the two-story black and white house.
She walked to the porch door, crossing the small steps that led to it. The sound of chirping crickets filled the air as she gently opened the door and stepped back inside. The smell of charred wood filled through her nose. Her steps traveled through the sound with the tapping of her bare feet against the tiled floors. Muscles relaxed as the fire scent filled her nose, a soft sigh of relaxation escaped her lips. Messing her hair up and walking in front of the couch before grabbing the small remote to the radio beside the tv; her fingers grazed over each button. Pressing the 'on' button as sounds of violins played in the background along with a piano. Picking up a different yet similar book from the one she had left in her room on the bed; she opened it to the page with the folded corner and began to read.

Her body rested into the form of the sofa, propping her feet of the small yet large stained wooden coffee-table; one leg over the other. Her small hands holding the book as crackles of fire were heard through the radio. Shifting her legs to where the other was on top now.
As she paid most of her attention to her book, the faint smell of burnt wood slowly started to grow stronger and brighter. Gaining her attention as she folded the corner of the book, closing it and placing it back down where she had picked it up from on the coffee table. Standing to go over to the fire place, small footsteps of running sounds came behind the couch. Her head turning to look at the position of where it came from.
Narrowing her eyebrows slightly, she stopped in her tracks just before going to sit back down in her spot. Looking around at her flame-lit living room, crossing her legs lightly just before placing her hands held together down on her lap.
The small cat like-figure from before jumped over the sofa arm and landed onto the spot just across from her. Their bodies faced each other as the cat sat down, with its' tail swaying from side to side. The color of its fur was an ash brown with white paws. A set of silver eyes peered at her and took her gaze, with the head of the cat tilted to the left slightly.
They kept a gaze at each other before they both tilted their heads to the other side in almost a mimic. A small smile started to form and take shape as the cat began to rise from its sitting position. A small jingle from the bell that hung around its neck attached to a collar.
It jingled once more quietly as it stood on all fours. Moving closer with a small step, barely sinking into the sofa. Their gaze kept on each other as a type of bond started to form. A small but strong breeze passed through the living room, the fire slowly died down until it was gone.
As the breeze passed through, the cats' fur moved along with it while they kept their gaze. Moving closer, a dim light started to grow until it blinded her. The cat vanished out of sight just before reappearing behind her, a light tap from behind onto her shoulder. She jumped as a gasp escaped her lips as she turned her body around. Looking up at the male behind her, she noticed a small collar-like necklace hang around its neck looking like the one the cat had on. She narrowed her eye making her eyebrows go down just before realizing it was the brown cat from before.
Eyes widening as she moved back, grabbing the small gray blanket that was on the backing of the sofa. Throwing the blanket at him, a shocked expression showing on her face as she turned away from his bare figure. He looked down at her slightly confused before realizing and wrapping the blanket around his waist. His cheeks and ears were lined with a shade of red blush as he looked away.
