Mana basics explained: Mana in this world is a highly energized particle which when paired up with a strong will of certain species can be used to manipulate other particles. To use this particle, many species began adapting highly specialized organs and additions to the brain to manipulate them. As a byproduct of species that do this starting to overwhelm the more mundane species, wild animals began to adopt various methods to absorb the energy as a source of nutrition. Whether that's through indirect absorption via eating other mana rich animals or eating magicrystals. One of the main things one must keep in mind with magic however is even if something doesn't actively use mana to cast spells and the likes it's still used passively to prevent the build-up and eventual self-destruction of the organism from excessive mana build up. One such example is how warrior types will subconsciously use mana to circulate through their body and strengthen it during combat and layer themselves in a protective mana shield to resist spells and other forms of damage.
Basics of casting: Magic in the world of Rokna is typically cast verbally rather than mentally as it aids in giving actual substance and will into the magic spell for those who are less skilled. Because of this most of the mages, one will encounter will use vocal casting. For those more skilled they can use mental casting for magic. Some of the drawbacks of this method are that one must have a greater understanding of magic, and a very powerful mind, but this allows one to cast their spells at faster speeds, and for those skilled enough even simultaneously cast two spells at once.
The effect of will and belief on mana: A side effect of sentient species brains developing the most to manipulate mana particles is the belief effect. It is an effect in which the more people believe in something that has to do with their magic the stronger their unconscious manipulation of mana particles to do that thing is. One of the strongest examples of this is vocal casting. The belief in one's words reinforcing the strength of one's spells has gradually caused that to become a reality as when they speak the spell out with purpose and mana their subconscious adds to the strength of the spell reinforcing it and therefore making the belief true. This is not the only example as the older vocal casting methods which have had a far larger belief and lasting impact upon the mana particles cause those vocal casting types to become more powerful than others. This is typical because the remainders of their will have a lasting effect upon the mana particles that can last as long from decades to even centuries.
This does not mean however if you convince a large portion of a species that another is beneath them it will become true. The most one can expect is perhaps your subconsciousness strengthening your spells and body when facing off against the supposed species to a small degree. But as one might expect emotions can affect mana to an extreme degree as well. If enough people come together with a strong enough hate towards something whenever they face that something their magic, and body will be reinforced by their subconscious will.
Vocal casting types: There are many forms of vocal casting one can choose from. For now, however, we will use three examples. The first type is common vocal casting. It's the simplest to use, and also the weakest version in which one speaks out the spells name in the common language to cast it. The second type we will go over is elven casting. This magic casting is around 1.5 times stronger than common casting as the "belief" behind the words is stronger. The third type we will talk about today is the ancient language vocal cast the very vocal casting used by our protagonist. This language was used by ancient humans and is still very powerful as several notable individuals and clans use it.
Note: We will be using ordinary English for common casting, the greek language for elvish language, and finally Latin for ancient language. If you have any suggestions for what the 200 spells in the mage book could be comment below. Any spells that aren't used for it will still be used as spells that will show up in the series. If you have any suggestions for spell types other than attack, support, summoning, and alteration post them in the comments.
Spell tiers explained-
Tier- 1 spells: Tier- 1 spells are the very first spells a mage learns no matter what profession they're going for. They are predominantly basic support spells used to train a mage in the manipulation of mana. For example the candle light is an example tier- 1 spells. Because of their cheap mana cost and the ease of learning them many commoners will at least try learning tier- 1 spells for the domestic spells.
Tier- 2 spells: Tier- 2 spells is where you get most of your basic attack spells such as firebolt. These are the weakest but most common attack spells that will be seen in the earlier ranks of mages.
Tier- 3 spells: This is where magic begins to get scary. The difference between a Tier- 2 and a Tier- 3 spell is massive with a Tier- 3 spell being several ties as powerful as Tier- 2 spells, and being capable of taking down a dozen enemies at a time. This is the most common level of spear used by the more powerful battle mages.
Tier- 4 spells: The disparity between Tier 4 and 3 is also astounding. A Tier- 4 spell is capable of taking down dozens of people with relative ease, and is not seen quite as often as Tier- 3 spells. Just a few spells of this level will all be needed to change the tide of a battle.
Tier- 5 spells: These spells are rare and only some of the most powerful of mages are capable of using them. Mages who can use this level of spells are capable of changing the course of entire wars. These spells can wipe out entire wars and every major world power has at least one mage capable of releasing this level of destruction.
Tier- 6 spells: This level is one that's only seen in myths and legends. These spells are capable of making entire nations disappear over the course of a single night. This makes them apocalyptic level spells in the eyes of many, but as none have been discovered there is no proof that they actually exist.

Mage levels explained-
Novice: Novice ranked mages are those who have just begun learning about magic from their seniors or after being self-taught. These mages are only capable of casting tier-1 spells.
Apprentice: This is the minimum requirement for one to become a combat mage as its when you will have access to Tier- 2 spells and can start dealing out damage. (Adimir is currently at apprentice level, but by using his staff and book he can cast Tier- 3 spells. However he will be predominantly be using Tier- 2 spells of his own making like the stone machine gun seen during the caravan battle because they're cheap and effective.)
Intermediate: Most battle mages are at this level and can cast Tier- 3 spells. However this is the point at which you will begin seeing spell resistance. This is when a mages mana starts to build up to the minimum amount in which they begin to be able to resist lower tier spells due to their surplus in mana. This level of a mage can resist Tier- 2 spells and is totally immune to Tier- 1 spells. But then this is where one reaches a stopping point more often than not.
Master: Those who have managed to reach this stage are the monsters of the mage world. They can cast Tier- 4 spells. These mage's can ot easily be defeated as they are immune to Tier- 2 spells, and resistant to Tier- 3 spells.
Arch mage: These are the mages who can cast Tier- 5 spells, and are the equivalent of a nuclear warhead of this world. They are immune to spells Tier- 3 and lower, and resistant to Tier- 4 spells.
Note: For resistances to spells it's only against energy based spells, meaning projectiles are still a viable method to take down mages. So earth spells would be a good counter while frost, water, wind, and fire spells are ill advised.
