Cade made his decision to go through with the cardboard equipment and raised them to become a piece of strong equipment. It looked silly but with the growth potential, they could become stronger.
After Cade made his decision, he registered online to get his license as an explorer. It was easy to become an explorer. All he needed to do was fill in the form online and wait for it to be processed.
Explorer mostly used a nickname for themselves much like a superhero name. Cade decided to use the nickname ‘The Cardboard Explorer’ due to his cardboard equipment. Luckily no one used that name and Cade did not need to think of using another nickname.
It took a week for his registration as an explorer to finish. During the one week he had, Cade bought himself some equipment as a substitute for his cardboard equipment before the cardboard equipment can be used properly.
With one durability, they couldn't make even one attack or defend. So, Cade decided to use other equipment first. He also needed to find out how much the increase will be when it leveled up.
According to the data shown by the system, to level up the linked equipment, Cade needed to use magic crystal. Magic crystal was expensive and Cade did not have much money on hand to buy any of them.
The only way he can get the magic crystal was by getting it dropped from monsters. However, even that was hard due to his super-low luck. He needed to work harder than anyone else if he wanted to become stronger.
A week later, Cade got his explorer license. With the explorer license on hand, Cade can buy a license to enter the dungeon available.
Whatever dungeons appeared; it all belonged to the government of that planet. For a guild, clan or family to raid the dungeon, they needed to buy the license from the planet’s government.
After they finished raiding the dungeon, 5% of their dropped items needed to be handed out to the planet’s government as tax. No matter what planet it was, all of them applied the same rate of tax.
There were two types of dungeon licenses. The first type was the full ownership of the dungeon. With this license, the buyer had full rights to the dungeon. Other than the 5% tax, the government had no right to interfere with the buyer of the license.
Only the owner of the license and the people he or she is allowed to can enter the dungeon. If an explorer without permission from the owner of the license tried to get in, the license owner can do anything he or she wanted to that explorer and the government won’t be able to interfere with their decision.
The second type was a limited-time entry license. Just like the name suggested, the owner of this license can enter the dungeon for a limited time. The time varied based on their application. It can be days, weeks or years.
However, if someone already bought the full ownership of that particular dungeon, a limited-time entry license will not be available but if someone bought the limited-time entry license before someone else buying the full ownership license, the license was valid until the time limit ended.
As Cade just started to become an explorer, he couldn't buy the full ownership license.
Cade searched the Dineon government site for a dungeon with limited time license available and he found some. 90% of them were slime dungeons.
Slime dungeon was the most unpopular dungeon in the universe because the slimes were weak and harmless. Even if they got out of the dungeon, they did nothing to the environment. All they did was digest the trash and garbage. They were helping the environment more than destroying it.
Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.
There were even some people taking it as a pet to help them destroy their trash and garbage. Some bad guys even used them to destroy corpses and everything else.
After browsing through the list of slime dungeons, Cade decided to take the grade E level 10 slime dungeon. This dungeon had five floors with all of them filled with grade E slime from level 1 to level 10.
Every dungeon had their grade and level for their monster. It can easily be determined by any explorer using their system.
It was better to raid a dungeon of the same grade as oneself as higher grade dungeon meant harder monsters and that was exactly what Cade did, choosing the right dungeon for himself.
Cade bought the license for a week of entry. He wanted to buy for a longer entry time but unfortunately, he did not have enough budget for that. The location of that slime dungeon was quite far from his apartment.
Cade needed to ride the train for 5 hours or used the teleporter if he wanted to reach there faster. Again, with his budget, he can only take the train. Cade waited for 3 days more before he got himself the license to enter the slime dungeon.
Cade only had one week to hunt the slime in the dungeon and he decided to skip class for a week. Cade prepared a lot of things including food. With his budget, he bought many canned food to last for a week.
With all the preparation done, Cade started his travel to the slime dungeon. Just like he planned earlier, he took the train and arrived at his destination in 5 hours.
The slime dungeon was located in an empty abandoned building near the train station. Cade walked for 10 minutes and he found the abandoned building. Once he entered the abandoned building, he saw the portal to the dungeon.
It was not the first time Cade saw a portal with his own eyes but this time, he saw it to get inside. There was no one around because the slime dungeon was unpopular.
Cade took out his iron short sword and iron round shield he bought a few days ago. Both the short sword and round shield were level 1 with 10 attacks and 10 defenses respectively.
Cade wore his black hoodie and jeans and equipped the short sword and round shield. Once he finished equipping himself, Cade entered the dungeon.
“So… it is not that much different from what was shown on the internet,” said Cade. The dungeon was just a cave with monsters roaming around inside. Cade took out his torchlight and made way into the dungeon.
Monsters inside the dungeon will not respawn once they are killed. Once all of the monsters inside the dungeon were killed, the dungeon will close by itself.
A minute of walking, Cade saw a slime happily bouncing around in front of him. They were known to be harmless but Cade did not know that they were friendly too. The happy slime went towards Cade and bounced around him.
It did not seem to want to attack Cade. Cade saw the slime and he felt guilty of killing it but, he needed to level up and killing the monsters was the only way to level up.
Cade resolved his mind and swung the short sword towards the slime. The sword cleanly cut the slime however, the cut slowly healed by itself.
“Ah, that’s right. I forgot that they had resistance against physical attack,” said Cade. Before the slime was able to fully heal itself, Cade stabbed the slime core and broke it.
The slime died and the system notified Cade that he killed a level 1 slime. No mention of the slime grade because it was a grade E dungeon and that meant all the slime inside the dungeon was grade E.
The slime evaporated and left nothing behind. That meant, there was no item dropped. It was not a surprise to Cade because his luck was the lowest and it was impossible to get any dropped.
When a monster was killed, there was a 50% chance that there was no item dropped, 30% dropped of magic crystal, 15% equipment, 4% skill book and 1% puzzle.
Someone with higher luck will have a better chance of getting an item drop. Usually, a party or guild will bring with them someone with high luck to help them easily get an item drop. All the drop obtained from the monster had their value and will surely net them some money.
Cade continued his exploration inside the dungeon and he met a few more slime. He kept killing all the slime he met and after his fifth killed, the system notified him of a level up. Cade was happy he leveled up. He got himself 10 stat points and he opened his stats to distribute them to his stats.
Since Cade's potential was E grade, he will only be able to get 10 stat points for every level up. Someone of grade D will get 20 points, grade C got 30 points, B got 40 points, A got 50 points and S got 60 points.
While Cade looked at his stats, something crossed his mind.
