There weren't a whole lot of words people who knew Patrick could use to describe him, average, jack of all trades master of none, that guy who's just kind of there, and these seemed to be some of the more popular ones. Patrick knew this about himself and it annoyed him how true they were.

Appearance wise he was exactly as he was described. Average. Not particularly ugly nor was he very good looking,

Patrick spent a lot of time and effort looking for things he could well and it always turned out the same, he got to a certain point before not improving now matter effort was put in and so he gave up. It's like there was this wall which no matter how hard he tried he could not improve and so he just gave up before moving onto the next thing, hoping to find that that singular thing that he's brilliant at the thing to take pride in his skill at.

Ha always liked gaming and mostly played as a way of relaxing and like everything he tried he never past quite good at it. When new frontier was announced as a VRMMO which promised unparalleled realism and freedom with the ability to become a stealthy assassin to strike at your enemies without them knowing you were ever there or an axe wielding warrior who uses nothing but his axe to cleave his way through his foes, or play as a mage raining spells death from above new frontier promised all of this and much more.

When Patrick heard the news about new frontier he felt waves of excitement wash over him.

“Holy shit this is fucking awesome I need this in my life now!”

There were 2 reasons as to why Patrick felt excited. Firstly was because this was a virtual reality game what reason wasn’t there to be excited for it? The second reason was more personal.

“If it’s here I can definitely make something unique and find something which only I can do I’m sure of it.”

"if they say anything is possible then I'm going to make something unique and never seen before" and this is the start of Patrick's tale through new frontier.
