The Adventurer's Guild was near the center of the city along with the Merchant's and Tamer's guild. He knew where these guilds were because they were the first Place that Eric went after he was left dumped in the city. He wasn't old enough to join the Adventurers Guild since he was still 12 and you had to be at least 13 and though he knew some math he didn't have any talent in business. As for the Tamer's guild, Eric wasn't born with the taming skill so that pretty much made him worthless to them.
"Hey you dirty woman, be more careful!!"
Jason turned around to look at the loud feminine screaming and he found an old woman yelling at a skinny black-haired girl with cat ears and a tail. "That's right I nearly forgot."
The closer one got to the center of the city the richer people were and well it was not uncommon to find demi-humans who served as slaves. It was a pretty basic concept like most of the mangas, humans enslaved any race as they expanded their lands. This included races such as elves, dwarfs, demi-humans, and pretty everything else.
Eric tried avoiding the city center because mistreatment of slaves was a common thing in these areas. Jason felt his blood boil when he saw the cat-eared girl get slapped by the owner because she had accidentally bumped shoulders with the old woman. Even when he read about it in manga he got angry but now that it was happening right in front of him he found it hard to stay under control.
He took a deep breath and continued on walking, 'There's nothing you can do, at least not at the moment.'
Not long after, he finally arrived at the Adventurer's Guild. It was a large three-story building that was decorated with the same French Tudor style he had seen in different mangas. On the entrance, there was a large wooden sign with a shield and sword engraving.
He entered the Guild and he froze in awe by all the things he could only see in anime and mangas. There were people wearing all types of armor, some had demi-human slaves with them and others had gigantic weapons.
"Hey if you're going to go in then hurry up you pipsqueak."
He turned around and found a giant man in full plated armor, he quickly walked in and formed a line for the reception desk. The line wasn't that long there were only about 19 people in line and all the rest were sitting at the dining area of the guild or just looking through the requests on the gigantic boards. There were a total of 6 receptionists so it didn't take long before it was his turn.

"Hi I'm Ben, how can I help you today?"
"Hey Ben, I'm here because I want to register as an Adventurer."
The receptionist nodded and brought out a blue crystal ball from the bottom of the cabinet. "I see, do you have the two silvers to pay the fee?"
'There's a fee? The last receptionist didn't say anything about a fee.'
"Uh yeah I do, what is the fee for? If you don't mind me asking."
"The fee is what we charge for making you an Adventurer Guild Card. Now if you would be as kind enough to put your hand above the crystal ball. This will give us basic information from you that will be placed on your guild card."
Jason nodded and put his hand on the ball.
"Alright Jason, looks like you are 13 so you are just barely eligible to become an adventurer though there will be some limitations on the requests that you can take. You will start as an F-ranked adventurer and can only take the labor-oriented jobs or herb gathering quests, you won't be able to take any subjugation quests. In the unlikely case that you raise your rank, you will not be allowed to take any subjugation quests till you become 15. Do you still wish to become an Adventurer?"
He was surprised by the fact that the crystal ball revealed his real name and not Eric who was the original owner of the body.
Jason nodded, though he didn't know that he couldn't accept any subjugation requests for such a long time it was still acceptable. He hadn't planned on putting his life in danger in the first place, but adventuring was one of the fastest ways to get money. If he tried becoming a merchant his age would get in the way.
"I see, just give me a second."
The receptionist pulled out a black card that seemed to be empty and placed it on top of the ball of light. When he removed it there seemed to be white writing on the card.
"This is your guild card, it shows your name, age, and rank. Do you see that small golden circle at the corner of the card? If you place your finger on it additional information such as the number of monsters you've killed, the number and rank of quests you've taken, and the magic that you've learned will be listed. The crystal recorded your mana signature so this extra information can only be accessed by you. It's a little extra security measure if you ever lose it. If you do lose it and try to get another one it will cost you 5 times as much so make sure you don't."
The man gave Jason the card and Jason paid the 2 silver fee.
"Sir, I know that you said I can't take subjugation quests but if I am forced to face a beast or monster while I'm out gathering herbs could I sell it to the guild?"
The receptionist sighed and looked at Jason, "Kid don't even think about doing anything stupid. Don't try to fight a monster before you grow up and take some lessons. As for your earlier question, the guild does buy the corpses of some monsters for their cores, hide, parts, and meat."
Jason smiled and nodded, "Don't worry I won't do anything reckless."
"Right, anyway as you can see on your card, you're an F ranked adventurer. After you have successfully completed a certain number of F-ranked quests you will be promoted to rank E, D, C, and so on. To take on a quest you have to grab the flyer from one of the Quest Boards and take it to us. To complete the quest you will have to do what the quest asks, some have a time limit and others do not. If you are to take on a quest with a time limit and you don't complete it in time then you will be fined. Also, make sure that you remember this, if you don't accept any quests for a month then you're adventurer status will be suspended and you will have to register again. As your rank increases then so do the time limits."
'Everything is pretty much the same as in the mangas except that last part.'
"Why do you have a rule that forces adventurers to take quests?"
The man smiled and pointed at a group of adventurers that seemed pretty old, "You see the Adventurers Guild provides its members with several privileges, such as discounts to several Inns and the ability to go out and into cities without having to pay entrance fees. It would be unfair if people simply registered as an adventurer and enjoyed these privileges without working wouldn't it?"
"Oh I see."
After leaving the adventurers guild Jason walked away from the city center and began looking for the Inns that was recommended by Trey.
