Chapter 13: Vs metal gear tiger
“AAAARRRRRHHHHHH!!!”
Saigo thrust the dagger on his right hand straight towards the metal gear tiger’s eyes.
As for the dagger on his left hand, Saigo held it above his head and swung it towards the metal gear tiger's paw.
*GRAAAAAA* without making any attempt to dodge, the metal gear tiger slapped its mighty paw towards Saigo.
At the same moment, when Saigo’s dagger reached the metal gear tiger's eye, its paw reached Saigo's face.
*clang* the sound of clashing metal resounded throughout the cave.
The dagger on Saigo's right hand came in contact with a scale on the metal gear tiger's eyelids and shattered.
The metal gear tiger's paw… went through Saigo's left hand.
Without blinking an eye, Saigo slashed the dagger on his left at the metal gear tiger's eyes.
*GGGRRRAAAAAA* the metal gear tiger roared out in pain and thrust its tail towards Saigo, flinging him at a wall.
“Pueh…” all air left Saigo lungs as he splashed into the cave’s wall. His backbones cracked and his rib cage caved in. Without any shadow to dive into, Saigo could not reduce any of the damage dealt.
“Ha…ha…ha…” Saigo took in quick breaths as he struggled to breathe.
Dark-attribute mana poured out of Saigo's magic stone and covered Saigo's chest. Within a second, Saigo’s hollowed chest is filled with mana which instantly attached his broken bones and muscles back to their original positions.
In the next second, Saigo's chest complete recovered and looked as good as new.
Meanwhile as for the metal gear tiger, it roared in pain as it swung its head around. Its slashed eyes slowly remoulded back to their original appearance. At the same time as Saigo, its eyes completely recovered. Great anger emerged from deep within its eyes. It has been a long time since it had been injured that badly.
Saigo slowly stood back up. He looked at his left hand in shock.
“Why… did my left hand pass through the metal gear tiger's paw?” Saigo quickly pondered. “Can it be… this is what my status plate meant by having a ‘not applicable’ physical resistance? I am immune to physical attacks in this form? But why am I struck by the metal gear tiger's tail?”
Saigo clenched his hands. A hint of hope appeared deep within his eyes.
“At least I have a clue…I have a chance to fight back!” Saigo faced the metal gear tiger.
“Time for round 2!” Saigo took out a dagger from his right thigh and readied himself.
He took a mighty step forward and charged, yet again, straight at the metal gear tiger head on.
This time however, rather than charging straight towards the metal gear tiger's head, Saigo ran towards its right paw.
The metal gear tiger's right paw enlarged again and the metal gear tiger thrust it straight at Saigo.
“TAKE THIS!!!” Saigo aimed the two daggers at different parts of the metal gear tiger’s face which are not covered by metal scales.
Expecting to go right through the metal gear tiger's paw, Saigo ran straight into it and entered the paw.
As a result, before his dagger could reach the metal gear tiger, Saigo's bones shattered, his body turned into mincemeat and he was thrown out of the paw and smashed straight into the wall.
However, within a second, the lump of bone and flesh turned black and merged together. It wiggled and reformed into a fully clothed Saigo.
Although his clothes were fine, Saigo's remaining 2 daggers completely broke and dissipated.
“Shit…” holding the 2 daggers that from the previous assault that barely escaped from damage, Saigo slowly got onto his feet.
“Why did I get hit?!?!” Aren't I immune to physical attacks?” Saigo spat out a complain.
The metal gear tiger slowly crawled towards Saigo with what seemed like a evil grin plastered in its face.
“Wait…” Saigo's brain processed at full speed. “The first time I was hit… was with its tail which is not covered in scales…the second time I was hit… was after I entered its paw?”

“Think…think!!! How does my ability work?”
Although Saigo wanted more time to think, the metal gear tiger did not give him any.
It roared and pounced an Saigo with its outstretched gigantic right paw.
Saigo took a step back and the metal gear tiger's paw went through Saigo.
Following the strike, it swung its left paw at Saigo.
Saigo grit his teeth and stood straight in his position, preparing to take the attack of the metal gear tiger.
“Pueh…” Saigo spat out blood. The small, purple, left paw of the metal gear tiger had pierced right into Saigo's chest, leaving a gaping hole in it.
“Why…” Saigo hurriedly jumped back, the hole in his chest healed in an instant.
“Why did its paw attack hit me this time? My skill have not stop yet!” Saigo looked at his translucent black body in confusion.
“One more time!” Saigo charged towards the metal gear tiger's right paw.
The metal gear swung its gigantic paw towards Saigo.
Saigo shifted the dagger on his left to his mouth and punched out. Meeting the metal gear tiger head on.
His left fist entered the paws of the metal gear tiger. And in the next instant, his arm is ripped off.
“I see…” Seeing what happened in front of him, Saigo finally understood part of the abilities of a Lord.
“So I AM immune to physical attacks! However, I am not immune to attacks made of mana or are infused with mana! That's why I still have magic resistance!”
Thinking back, when was Saigo tested out the effects of [darkness conversion], he had used one of the daggers that he made to cut his arm. Since it was made with mana, he was cut ‘normally’.
“But…what can I do with this?” Saigo thought as he took a step back.
The metal gear tiger pounced and swung its paws towards Saigo. He dodged with minimal effort, letting the paw go through him.
“This paw is enlarged by concentrating all of the metal in its body on it…therefore I can barely pass through it as there is a gap between the metal itself and the mana paw! Its as if it is wearing a super thick glove! I can go through the physical glove but not the hand made of mana.”
“In that case…” Saigo turned and made a mad dash towards the eggshell with the metal gear tiger chasing after him.
Saigo spared a glance towards his left, his left arm is still gone.
“I am running out of mana to recover… this is the last stand I can make!” Saigo drew some mana from his dim magic stone to form a new left arm.
He shifted the dagger on his right to his left hand.
Using his right hand, Saigo picked up an eggshell and threw it towards the metal gear tiger.
In response, it merely opened its mouth and ate the eggshell, using it to form more scales on its body.
Saigo let out a small grin.
He threw more and more eggshells towards the metal gear tiger.
Confused, the metal gear tiger stopped chasing Saigo and stood still, occasionally stretching out its head to catch the eggshells thrown.
“Yes yes… eat more and grow bigger…” Saigo let out a small laugh.
After a few minutes, the eggshells ran out and the metal gear tiger's body grew as large as its right paw.
Now it looked twice as big as it was when it fought Shiina.
“So…it evolved after eating more mana?” Saigo looked at the metal gear tiger in awe as he chuckled, not revealing the slightest fear.
“COME!!!” With bloodshot and crazed eyes, Saigo spread out his arms and challenged the metal gear tiger.
The metal gear tiger looked at Saigo with ridicule and pounced.
It opened its mouth wide and aimed to bite Saigo's face right off.
Saigo’s eyes turned sharp as he revealed a wide smile.
“Gotcha.”
Saigo threw away the daggers in his hands as he slowly leaned back.
While everything below his knees were still perpendicular to the ground, the rest of his body was parallel to it.
Remaining in that bizarre position, Saigo dodged the metal gear tiger’s attack.
While it’s body was ‘flying’ above Saigo, using all of his strength, Saigo pushed himself upwards using his legs and entered the metal gear tiger's armour.
He wrapped his legs and arms around the metal gear tiger's mana body’s stomach with a grin.
The metal gear tiger landed and released an enraged roar.
“Haha, try to get me now bitch!” Saigo gave a small laugh.
Having entered the metal gear tiger's armour, the only way the metal gear tiger could harm Saigo was by smashing itself or removing its armour. Of course, being called a metal gear tiger, how can it easily remove it’s armour?
Therefore, the metal gear tiger hurriedly smashed it’s stomach against the ground, attempting to smash Saigo with it.
“It's useless~. I am immune to physical attacks and am like a ghost, the more you do that, the more you will only harm yourself~” Saigo chuckled.
“Let me get you out of your misery. God of war, bless me with a dagger to fight my enemies. [create dagger] Darkness version.” Saigo slowly chanted in the comfort of the metal gear tiger's ‘embrace’.
After converting all of his remaining mana into darkness-attribute mana, he used it to form a dagger of darkness capable of moving through the metal gear tiger’s armour like him.
“Die.” After aiming, Saigo slowly stabbed the dagger into the metal gear tiger's stomach, slowly approaching the metal gear tiger's magic stone.
*GGGGRRRRRRAAAAAAA!!!!!* the metal gear tiger roared in pain.
It struggled and tried to shake Saigo off, but to no avail.
It tried to stab it's paw into its own stomach but to no avail, its armour was too hard.
It went mad, knowing that it's death is approaching.
And it's magic stone is finally pierced through.
*GGGGRRRRRRRAAAAAA!!!* after releasing a final roar, it collapsed onto the ground.
The armour on it’s body slowly loosened before falling off, revealing a beautiful young woman in it.
“Ha…ha…”
“Haha..haha…”
“Muahahahahaha!!!!!”
That woman is of course, Saigo Masamune.
“YES!!! FINALLY!!! I HAVE SLEW THE METAL GEAR TIGER!!!” Saigo roared as he pumped his fist in the air.
However, just a moment later, Saigo felt his vision blur as he blacked out, collapsing onto the ground.
