The blood wars
A new member for better or worse?

A new member for better or worse?

The throne room, a room lavishly painted with dark reds around and gold framing tapestries with elegant designs. Plants spiraling up the white marble pillars. Their red twisted flowers open for all to see.

There in the center of the room is a red carpet that leads up and up to a throne made of bone and stone. The blood king sits on this throne. He glared while watching the doors as they opened to let in a woman. The woman was dressed in simple armor consisting of pieces at the shoulders, the elbows, and arm braces. Underneath it she was wearing a black tunic and a short blue skirt with black leggings, her leather brown boots having a bronze buckle the half-inch heels clicked against the floor causing echoing around the room, and on her hip was a broadsword.

The sheath had a Phenix engraved into it. Her long hair softly danced in the air like a raging inferno. It was red as polished copper, a soft red glow coming off it. She entered the room, her back straight and a sad scowl on her face. Hand on her sword when the large doors close.

She heard a scoff from the king. “so, you really are stupid, I had suspected it before but to come here after what you’ve done! I should kill you and then feed you to my kelpies!” The blood King's voice started calm and then went into an enraged yell.

Yet the woman stares up at the king, she sadden scowl twists into an enraged glare “why? Why are you doing this to your people?”

The king bursts into a loud boisterous laugh and shakes his head “oh you poor delusional thing. This is what you came to talk to me about after sixteen years of being gone?” He says as he quickly goes from a smile to outrage “you Know exactly what this is about!”

The woman’s eyes go from having a fire to a glimpse of fear “no, not that I will never let you keep that, and we will still be in this war so I’m going to ask while you still can. Can you please stop this?”

The king sneered his eyes glowed red and blood red magic began flaming from his hands and the skin on his hands began turning ash black.

“You lost it the second you sent it away but, Stop? Stop? This started because of you.! You started this after you left and lied for so many years! I hate you! I wouldn’t have to do this if you had not lied. You really weren’t fit to be a father's. Even he didn’t lie like you do mother.

Now leave before I decide otherwise. I have better things to do than deal with you.”

A few tears fall off the Queen’s face “I love you” she says softly and with that, she leaves back to where she came from.

The king watched his mother leave and he shrugged “no matter the outcome of this war, I still win.”

He then looked to the guards standing by “Send word to the council the queen is against us.”

With that, he turned to a side entranceway and walked down the stairs that open to a hallway. The king heads down the hallway and then takes a left opening to an open area with stone walls and soldiers patrolling and keeping a lookout. In many of these walls are opening ways to the dungeons.

One of these openings was being guarded. In front of the guarded opening were ten carriages being hauled by tiger horses. They snorted when the king passed by.

The king approached this guarded opening with a smirk on his face. The guards parted ways for the king “morning your highness.” The king grinned “morning you two, I have a good feeling for today.” The two watch him leave and glance at each other with worried looks.

When he entered, he passed cages to his left and right. The bars of these cages have runes of a magic language engraved into them.

Inside these cages are rebels, each glared daggers at the king as walked up to a man in a lab coat with bloodstains. They have glasses and grey combed back hair. Atop their head are wolf ears and their grey wolf tail whipped back and forth, unlike the many others in this room they were not caged. The wolf Beast-blooded had a large book with him and a few herbs around him. His focus is on writing down notes.

The king chuckled,

“Good day Dr. Levins, how are all the little patients?”

Dr. Levins flinched and looked up at the king.

“oh, hello your highness. All the patient’s infections are gone, and their bodies have accepted the implants.” He said with a shudder as he looked at the rebels. All of which have necklaces of barbed wire woven into their necks. He despised this job.

The king smiled and looked around the room,

“Good day little mice. I have good news since the doctor has given me a clear. You all get to go home!”

The rebels looked at each other with shock and then back to the king, skeptical. The king chuckled seeing their skeptical glances at him “hey it's ok, but despite this, I’ll get a few carriages ready, and then you all can write down where you want to go. Sounds fun?” silence rings in the room.

The king shrugged “what not a word, oh well that’s respected.”

He turned to Dr. Levin’s “thank you doctor for working so hard on this. You are dismissed.”

Dr. Levin’s nodded and with a scurry he left. The king chuckled and walked up to the two guards “you get the rebels into the wagons.”

He said pointing to one and then he turned to the other “you go get the stagecoaches.” The two guards nod and run to go do their given tasks.

Lexy sat up when she heard Varikin barking at her to wake up,

“ugh this is never going to end is it?” She got out of bed and began to get dressed. Making sure to strap her containers of knives onto her belt. She put on a thin t-shirt and then a turquoise baggy hoodie over it. The hoodie two sizes too big covers the knife's up from view.

Lexy walked out and saw Varikin. She huffed,

“Please stop barking, it's the crack of dawn!”

Varikin only leaned his head to the side smiling. Knowing exactly what she’s talking about. Lexy glares and then sighs “ug fine come on might as well go get breakfast.” She said frustration and sleep were present in her voice. With that, she put on her hood.

The two-headed downstairs to get breakfast and once Lexy looked to one of the maids “would you or one of the butlers please take me downtown?”

A few minutes later the maid comes back and holds the door open to where Lexy and Varikin can see a limo with a driver in it ready to go. This slightly confuses Lexy, but she decides to go with it.

Lexy smiled and turned to Varikin,

“I’ll be back.” With that Lexy exits the mansion and stops after she gets past the door,

“Thank you,” she says to the maid who was holding the door open. The maid nodded “any time young miss.”

Lexy gets in the Limo and buckled herself in,

“To the store please, I'm hoping to get some seeds to grow there.” She said with a smile and the driver noded.

Once Lexy entered the store she quickly grabbed Corn, Beats, squash, and wheat seeds. She purchased them and then headed back to the Limo.

After her brief trip to the store, Lexy returns to the mansion and steps out of the limo “thankyou” and the driver nods and leaves. She pockets her hands in her pocket shuffling around the seed packets as she enters the building.

She saw the twins pass by her, but she paid them no mind. She turned around and saw Varikin and smiled softly,

“Hey, I got the seeds, come on.” Varikin stood up and followed Lexy as she left the building again.

Lexy hummed as she and Varikin walked through the forest. Varikin followed Lexy as they reach the clearing and the two stop,

“So what seeds did you get?” He asked with curiosity in his voice.

Lexy’s eyed Varkin a mischievous glint,

“oh yeah you do talk but I just some corn and a few other things.” She leaned over and touched his fur.

She focused on the desert air of reality and warped her and Varikin over to reality. The two begin to walk to the doorway of the rebellion out in the desert,

“you’ll see they are really good and very useful”

The two entered the base and Lexy stretched “ok let’s get planting.” Her calm expression changes to a kind smile.

Lexy and Varikin walk into the cafeteria and Lexy sees Katie, as usual, dishing up food. She looked at the tables and saw Miko, Leo, Jennie, Fendres, Jackson, Alcore, and Talo.

Lexy entered the kitchen and walked up to Katie,

“Hi, Katie.” Katie turned to see Lexy and smiled,

“Hi Lexy, hey last night I checked to see how much clay we have, and we are going to need a bit more for those large flower pots. You’ll find a shop in the city, ask for two packages of clay from them and take one of the boys with you just in case.”

Lexy nodded,

“oh ok, sure thing but I don’t have money.” Katie quickly served up someone's food and reaches into a container inside a cabinet to her left and pulls out a stack of coins.

She handed the coins to Lexy and resumed her work. Lexy put the coins in her pants pocket and turned to Varikin,

“Who do you think should come with?”

Varikin shrugged,

“I don’t care, that's your choice.”

Lexy hummed,

“I’ll ask Miko.” And the two exited the kitchen and entered the cafeteria. Lexy was careful to avoid Talo and she came up to Miko. Taping Miko’s shoulder barely inwardly cursing her short height.

Miko turned to her and tilted his head to show that she had his attention. Lexy gave a soft smile,

“Hey, Miko, could you come with me to the markets? Katie said someone needed to come with me besides Varikin and I didn’t want to bother the captains about it so, yea.”

Miko nodded a yes.

He then pulls out his holograph device and typed “sure thing”

The blood king sat at a simple desk in a room that was just as simple. He stared at the papers scattered around his desk with distaste vivid in his eyes. Their complaints and requests from other kingdoms. Some ask for a trade, others begging for them to leave their constellation of planets. It's not his fault his father was dead set on taking over their constellation and succeeded.

The Anawrath kingdom was already ten constellations strong. The militia of the kingdom was already stretched out enough with the borders against its neighbors. The star dwarfs, The Elves, and the kingdoms' closest neighbor the Trilleons.

Anawrath's most advanced neighbor was Trilleons. Trilleons were inventors and human-like in mentality. With their pale white paper skin and one horn that looks like a halo fused to their head. They were very smart and one of the first Anawrath had a treaty with.

He never understood why the star dwarves were called that when if anything they should be called giants. They tower over any forest giant he’s seen.

Not many have seen forest giants on this planet; most have just died off because of deforestation in the north. There are still a few around but they don’t dare attack. The blood king agreed with what was left of the mighty creatures. The forest giants would get home if the giants help construct fortes and such tasks of the sort. Although they are not the smartest of creatures, they understood the contract.

It’s when the king heard the servant enter the room that the king pulled himself out of his thoughts “your highness one of your specialists is back from their assignment.” The blood king looks up strands of his black and red hair slightly sticking to his face.

He gives a mischievous smirk and nods to the servant “ah yes let him in” Magi enters through the door after the servant leaves. “good evening you're highness you wanted to see me?”

The king gives a hum “Yes, I want you Mogaline and caption Varolus to observe or to capture the child we met a day ago. I have a suspicion. That I need confirmed” Magi nods “yes your highness”

Magi bowed and pulled out a teleport vile and stopped as he saw the harsh glare coming from the king,

“oh right sorry forgot you hated the smell of this stuff.” With that, he walks out and then smashes the vile and he disappears.

Magi reappeared in a tent. The tent had two beds and a desk with herbs and a min brewing stand with two caldrons one filled with blue liquid and the other gray at the desk was a chair that had male dragon blood in it.

The dragon blooded was dressed in a blood solder uniform and has dark blue scales and a half-broken horn with jagged bits splitting off. The dragon-blooded looked at magi with a stoned face,

“oh good, you’ve already been briefed, Yes?”

Magi nodded,

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“yup, so why do you think the boss man would be interested in an adorable little child, Varolus?”

Varolus shrugged and resumed working on a mixture by putting in a few herbs into a cauldron of bubbling blue liquid. The second the herbs touch the liquid it begins to hiss and change from blue to pitch black. “how do you already know about our target?”

Varolus reached into a satchel next to him and pulled out a book of potion recipes. He flipped through the book and glanced at Magi who shrugged,

“I had an observation assignment and remember how I and Mogaline came back with giant bite marks?”

Varolus turned back to his work and began stirring the caldron of once blue and now green liquid and nodded. Magi shrugged,

“Well our target is constantly being protected by a wonder wolf and that was the day I met the target. Also, are you trying to make a Potion? You know you have to be a wizard to make those right?”

Varolus stood up “oh I know luck for us our half wizard is standing right in front of me. Care to finish these up?”

Magi sighed and walked over to the potions and put his hands over them. The potions glow for a short moment and then he moves his hands away.

Magi raised a brow knowing exactly what these two potions are. “Is this a youth potion and asleep potion? I can guess what the sleep potion is for but the youth?”

Magi started not quite liking the idea of being in a childlike body.

Varolus looked him in the eye as he took out a set of four potion bottles and poured the sleeping into three and then poured the youth potion into one and handed it to Magi.

*****

Lexy, Miko, and Varikin entered the city of Charter Lexy as last time wearing a cloak and hood. Leo’s warning was still very vivid in her mind. Varikin was by her side and was just wearing an allusion strong enough to hide his crystals.

The three walk through the busy streets with Miko in lead and Lexy shortly behind. The trio walks through the town square and Lexy stops when she sees Magi, Mogaline, and Varolus for a short moment until they're suddenly gone.

Lexy shrugged “probably paranoid.” And finds that she has lost sight of Miko “Miko? Varikin, did you see where he went?”

Varikin looked up to her “he disappeared into the crowd sorry, but hey, don’t worry he'll come back once he realizes that you’re gone it would be best to stay here.”

Lexy nodded and looked behind herself just in time to see a red-headed little elf boy maybe a little shorter than her with green and red eyes. His clothes were tattered. The boy had a panicked look on his face when he rushed towards her screaming back,

“No I don’t want to go, you can’t make me!” and he bumped into her. He stopped and helped her up “oh so sorry but I’ve got to” he stopped when he saw her hood off revealing her fluffy blond hair and storm blue eyes.

He stares at her for a short second and then shakes his head and Lexy dusted herself off and puts back on her hood,

“It's quite alright but who are you running from?’ She inquired.

The boy no longer clutching fear in his eyes just curiosity and looked behind him and then back to Lexy,

“I’m running from the specialists. Apparently, I’m special because of my magic. Can you help me?”

Lexy’s eyes widened “specialists here? Yes, I can- “

Varikin interrupted her “Lexy. I don’t know, they smell familiar.” Lexy turned her head to Varikin “I’m helping that’s final.”

Varikin sighed “fine it's your funeral.” He said with frustration and sourness in his voice.

The boy looks to Lexy, panicked as he sees Varolus and Mogaline closing in. The boy grabs Lexy by the hand and begins running with Lexy in tow,

“sorry but they're closing in.” Lexy panicked, looked behind her to see Varolus standing there, and then she bumps into the redhead elf boy.

She looked past his shoulder to see why and she saw Mogaline. Fear crawled up her spine and then she heard Varikin “what did I say.”

Lexy then straightened her back “oh hi, I’ve seen you before.” She says pointing to Mogaline and she then turns to Varolus “but not you, you’re new and you look familiar but not the point. You guys steal kids all the time, can't you just let my new friend here go?”

Varolus chuckled “Oh sure and why not let you go? Yea no.”

Lexy shrugged, “welp I tried.” Lexy said and placed her hand on the boy who was looking at her confused as she reached over to Varikin and teleported herself, Varikin, and the boy over to the vail.

The boy froze when he looked around, seeing people and cars pass by and they’re on the sidewalk. His eyes were wide as saucers “where? Where ARE WE!” he said in terror when he looked around.

Lexy smiled,

“Hey you’re fine I can bring us back if you would like.”

He looked at her in awe and confusion,

“Can you teleport? This doesn’t look like any village I know of.”

Lexy giggled a smile on her face “that’s because we aren’t in your reality I can teleport between realities.”

The boy only nods still very confused “so we are safe?” he says with slight caution.

Lexy nods “yes and I never got your name. I’m Lexy.”

Magi shakily extended his hand and shook hers “Cody.” He says with a nervous smile.

Varikin peered at the boy suspiciously “ The name is Varikin. Nice to meet you, Cody.”

Magi noded “nice to meet you two but I think we should head back. I think they're gone by now.”

Lexy nodded “Got it one second.”

Magi shrugged “ok”

Lexy shut her eyes and put her hand on Magi’s head and teleported them back. Magi looked in awe as the world changed around him going from the modern world to the world of magic. Lexy opens her eyes and retracts her hand from Magi’s head. The two looked around and saw no trace of Mogaline or Varolus.

Magi shrugged “ok what now I didn’t really have a plan besides escape.”

Lexy smiled “it's ok but I’m actually looking for someone, come on.” Magi noded, deciding to trust the girl, and followed Lexy and the wonder wolf.

The three entered the town square and Lexy spotted Miko. Lexy waved to Miko and he quickly rushed over and typed upon his holographic device “are you ok? I’m sorry.”

Lexy gave a nervous smile “I’m ok but meet my new friend.” Miko turned and saw Magi he typed up onto his holographic device. “hi, I’m Miko, who are you?”

Cody smiled, “I’m Cody, nice to meet you, Miko.”

Miko nodded, he turned to Lexy and typed “to the markets?”

Lexy nodded “yes “and she turned to Cody “hey we're heading to the markets do you want to come?”

Magi chuckled, “Sure, besides I don’t want to be left out here, those specialists might come back for me.” he said sticking with his story.

Miko tilts his head and Lexy chuckles “yea good point, oh right you don’t know Miko. Cody was about to be caught by specialists and I helped.”

Miko nodded and typed upon his holograph “Oh, alright so he is coming with me then if that’s the case let's hurry.” Lexy nodded in agreement.

Miko led the group of four through the town and the four entered a market’s area. Lexy smiled “Ok, we are looking for clay Miko do you know the way?” Miko nodded and pointed to a market straight ahead. Lexy smiled and walked up to the stand. The stands merchant had on display large blocks of colorful clay.

The merchant was wearing a large wizard hat and robe. He's old-looking but doesn’t have a beard like you would expect a wizard to have. The wizard’s eyes are cat-like and the veins around the eyes softly glow his yellow eye color.

The Wizard smiles “hello how can I help you today?”

Lexy smiled, “I just need two blocks of clay please.”

The Wizard nodded and pulled out a bag. The wizard put two blocks of clay into the bag “that will be two bronze coins.” Lexy nodded and pulled out the two bronze coins Katie gave her. Lexy handed the coins to the Wizard and the Wizard handed her the bag of clay. Lexy turned back to Miko and Cody, she walked up to the two,

“ok, that’s all we needed from here. Back to the base but Cody I need to ask you a very serious question.”

Magi was a little nervous “Uh ok what is it?” Lexy went from a serious expression to a kind smile “do you want to join the rebellion, Cody?”

Magi felt every voice of logic yell at him to say no go back to where you belong, figure out a plan. The last thing you need is an angry boss. Cody was silent for a short moment and then smiled “I would love to join the rebellion.”

Lexy turned her head to Varikin who sighed,

“fine but YOU are explaining this to Alcore NOT me.”

The blond smiled, “of course.” Lexy turned back to Cody “ok then you’re coming with.”

Magi smiled and the four left the markets. Entering the busy streets of Charter. Miko led the group of four out of the town and entered the desert.

Magi eyed Lexy curios “Hey Lexy why do you hide your face?”

Lexy pulled down her hood “oh it’s just when I’m in public. I’ve already been spotted by the guard, so they know what I look like, so I must hide it, it’s also my hair”

Magi noded “yea what is with your hair I’ve never seen anything like it. Not to be offensive.”

Lexy shook her head “no you’re fine and no, it's not made of gold this is just my hair and it doesn’t have any magical properties as far as I’m aware. Plus, you know how you saw my home reality and all?”

Magi merely nodded as the bubbly girl continued “There this is a very common hair color.” Lexy says with a small smile.

Magi hummed “Then what are you because you don’t look like an elf or a wizard, I know of.”

Lexy chuckled, “That's because I’m human and the reality I come from is filled with humans.”

Magi’s jaw drops “wait WHAT you’re human but what do you mean? Humans can't do magic or at least that is how it is in the stories.”

Lexy shrugged, “I understand the skepticism. At max I’m part human but as for what the other part is I have no idea.”

Magi noded “makes sense but if I were to guess what half you are, I would say elf. Did your magic appear after touching an item?”

Lexy shook her head “no I discovered it when I was thinking about another world and then I found myself there.”

Magi hummed, “then a safe bet would be wizard, I am a half wizard and half-elf. My parents were middle class and then gave me up to the specialist after they taught me some spell and potion basics. But because I have dream magic that apparently made me special.”

Lexy nodded “so how do you tell if you’re a wizard or part wizard?”

Magi smirked “oh that’s easy, try to make a potion only a wizard can get them to work. Sure, someone can add most of the ingredients, but the wizard must do the last of it and give the potion his or her blessing. I could probably set up a simple potion for you some time to try.”

Lexy’s eyes glittered “really that sounds so cool I can’t wait.”

Varikin shrugged, “yea that’s if she lives past tomorrow.”

This caused Lexy to groan “no don’t remind me ugh I am not looking forward to that.”

Magi tilts his head “wait what?”

Lexy sighed and Varikin shook his head. “Talo challenged her to a Gershon, a match of extreme combat that the rebellion uses to tell what squad you go into.”

Magi was about to ask who Talo was until he saw Miko stopping and opening the door to the rebellion base the four entered and Magi looked around curiosity filled with his expression.

Lexy smiled and grabbed Magi by the wrist “come on you have to talk to Alcore first.” Lexy pulled him along to Alcore’s office door.

Magi is a little nervous “Lexy wait is this mandatory?”

Lexy nodded “oh of course he’s the leader all recruits get passed by him.” This doesn’t entirely reassure Magi, but he decided he was going to have to trust Lexy.

Lexy knocked on Alcore’s office door and “come in.” came from the other side. Lexy, Cody, and Varikin enter Alcore’s office.

Alcore looked at Magi's curiosity present on his face. “Lexy, who is this? Are you a recruit young man?”

Magi was nervous but pushed his worries aside “yes sir.” Alcore turned to Lexy “did you find him?”

Lexy nodded “yup.”

Alcore turned back to Cody “why do you want to join?”

Magi huffed “I want to join so I can end the child tax.”

Alcore noded and hummed “Ok you can join.” He turned to Lexy with a stern expression “he is your responsibility meaning if he turns out to be a traitor it will be on you and you will have to kill him if it goes south.” Lexy opened her mouth but didn't say anything and nodded.

Alcore sat back down and said, “You may leave now.”

Magi, Lexy, and Varikin walked out and Magi sighed. “He scares me.”

Lexy tilted her head “not me he just came off as a big brother to me. But I guess I can see your point. Hey on a different subject, do you want to plant seeds with me and Katie?”

Magi shrugged,

“Shure why not I’ve read about plants, but my parents never could afford to buy the seeds. I remember the ones that intrigued me the most were flowers. Flowers have many very powerful uses for a wizard.”

Lexy hummed “really is that why there are no more flowers? I see them all the time where I’m from. I'm not sure if I could bring one over. But considering all things it should work.”

Magi’s eyes sparkled even in the military he never got to see the beautiful plants let alone work with them.

“Yes and no, wizards had a part of it. Another part is the lack of royals doing their job. There are these monsters called dusted wendigos. They would be killed by the royal family. But because the royal family hasn't these monsters have had time to grow and now there’s a lot of them around.

Dusted wendigos create large sandstorms around themselves while hunting. This causes deforestation in their hunting grounds. But do you really think you could bring a flower from your world?”

Lexy smiled “I’ll try it on the way back and if it works, I promise I'll bring you a cluster of flowers. But as for a dusted wendigo, I think I met one whose name was Algavorian.”

Magi smiled, was it bad for once he felt loved. Not even his parents gave him this feeling, feelings had died once he learned the real reason, they were favoring him over his siblings. Because they were going to give him up. He remembered how at first, he didn’t want to believe what he had heard from his parents, the ones that gave hugs and cuddles every day making the best of things if it meant he would be happy.

Only to find they were monsters willing to give up their precious child at the age of twelve just so they can have riches and better food. The better you do in the military the better your family does.

He remembers how at first, he was purposely failing. Until after three brutal years of training he was put into the fighting ring and rose to the highest-ranking any soldier can earn as a specialist. Personal guard of the king.

Magi smiles and decides not to fight this feeling just this once, it’s not like it comes around that often anyway. “Ok, let's do this plant thing.” He said with a cheer in his voice.

Lexy smiled

“Come on, we have to drop this clay off with Katie.”

Magi nodded and followed Lexy to the kitchen and saw Katie. Katie was rushing around the kitchen preparing food. She immediately stopped once she saw the three,

“oh bless my heart we have a new one, oh you two are so adorable! Oh, you got the clay, perfect the pots I have in the back room are ready for seeds there should be two rows. Have fun.” With that Katie opens a door revealing a room.

Magi blinked, unsure of how to react to this cheerful lady. Luckily Lexy piped in for him,

“Thanks, Katie”

Lexy turned back to Magi with a smile,

“Commonly, let’s plant these things!”

Magi smiled at Lexy’s cheerful attitude.

Lexy, Varikin, and Magi enter the room that has a simple large table in it. The table has two rows of large tall pots made of clay filled with dark soil.

Lexy smiled and pulled out little pouches she made each labeled.

Magi turned to her “so what are we planting?”

Lexy set the pouches of seeds on the table and then picked up the pouch of corn seeds,

“We are planting corn while it’s not a flower. It is still very useful. Corn can be made into a powder that you can use to make baked goods. You also can just eat it off the plant once you peel it.”

Magi’s eyes sparkled “really? Then what are we waiting for? Let's plant these things.”

Lexy nodded and poked her pinkie into the soil creating a hole “poke your finger into the dirt once and then put in a seed.” Lexy puts the seed into the hole and covers it up; she then turns to Cody and hands him a few corn seeds. While she took a jar of water nearby and began to gently water what was planted.

Magi smiled and went to the other row of pots and repeated the process of planting the corn. Once the two finished up Magi smiled and turned to Lexy,

“ok so what now?” Lexy finished the last pot and chuckled,

“Well, I actually need to head home.”

Magi nodded, feeling a strange pain at the thought of being away from this strange girl. “oh, are you going to be back tomorrow?” trying not to sound desperate.

Lexy smiled, “Of course I’ll be back tomorrow.” Varikin walked over to Lexy “don’t forget you need to practice for tomorrow. Tomorrow is your battle with Talo and you will need far more than luck on your side.”

Lexy gave a nervous smile “yay can’t wait to die tomorrow.” Sarcasm dripped off her voice. “Well I’ll see you tomorrow Cody and who knows I might not die or get horribly injured. Oh, hey if you’re wondering where you will be sleeping just ask Katie or Jackson, but I’ve got to go or Thokath will have my hide.”

With that Varikin rushed off with Lexy. Cody hummed when he watched her leave.

******

Lexy rushed out of the base the sun an hour from setting. Lexy reached over to Varikin and touched his scruff. Lexy closed her eyes thinking of flowers for Cody and the two were back in the veil.

Lexy opened her eyes “ok we're not heading home quite yet I want to know where some flowers are for Cody.”

Varikin nodded and began walking back to the mansion slowly looking for the plant as requested.

Varikin sighed “I’m not sure about Cody; he smells like Magi. One of the king’s specialists.”

Lexy hummed “I'll keep it in mind.”

Varikin nodded and then he saw another clearing that’s filled with an array of colors “Lexy look.”

Lexy turned her view to where Varikin was referring to and she saw the clearing of flowers. She smiled and walked over to a tree, pulling out the chalk Thokath gave her. She marked a tree in front of the clearing and then turned back to Varikin,

“Alright, let's head home.” Varikin nods and turns into his smaller wolf form and he looked like a Doberman pinscher.

Lexy and Varikin resumed walking, listening to the nature around them as they left the forest and entered the mansion.
