The toddler made of fires was coming right at us.
His flames were so intense that I didn't know if even I could survive taking those head-on. I decided that it would be better to not try to find out and grabbed Balla so we could get away from there.
"This was a mistake!! A huge, huge mistake!!!" I yelled.
"Chloe!! What do we do???" Balla screamed.
We both were trying so hard to fly away from the baby as fast as we could that I barely had the time to think of a plan, "I don't know! Trying to survive is a good start!!"
We kept flying all over the island and adventuring inside the forests. With my control over the wind, I could probably get away from that kid in a matter of seconds, but I didn't know if Balla would be able to keep up with me.
"Balla, let's just keep him chasing after us and lead him to the lake like Mr. serpent asked!" I yelled while turning around to look at her, but then I realized that she was a few inches away from him, "Balla!!!"
The baby was about to pounce on her and bury her whole body under his firestorm. Using my speed I dashed with all my strength and grabbed her hand in the last second to pull her out of there.
"I thought I was a goner!!! Thank you!!!" she said.
"Balla, are you ok? How did he caught up to you??"
"I told you, I haven't slept in a long time! I don't have a ton of strength right now!!"
"Oh, this is bad."
I turned around to see if the baby was still following us and saw a large piece of rock covered in flames coming right at me.
"Oh my heavens!!" I said while throwing Balla in the air and ducking from the rock. I tried to extend my arms to catch her again but the baby simply appeared on my left and tried to pounce on me.
I released a wave of wind to pull myself out of the way and the toddler collided with the ground. The impact caused many sparkles to start flying around and the fire to spread even more catching almost every tree that was nearby.
The trees started to burn and fall around us one by one. Even if I was hit by one I would still be ok, but all the smoke that was starting to form and the dryness of the air was making it hard to keep myself together.
"I need to get out of here!"
The kid looked at me and started to chase one more time. I wanted to keep him away so I gathered as much wind power as I could and blasted him against a rock.
"Sorry!!" I said after realizing I just attacked the one I was asked to help. Oh man, being nice is hard...
Balla joined my side after she saw me resting on my knees, "Chloe!! You ok??"
"I've been better... This much fire is a bad mix for me..."
She tried to help me stand up and we started to hear the baby screaming. The noise itself wasn't so bad but the wider he cried, the faster his flames spread themselves.
"He will burn the whole forest at this rate!!" I said.
"Can't you make it rain or something??" Balla asked.

"Maybe if I get higher... The air is too dry in here!!"
"Then let's go up!!"
I nodded and we both began to fly towards the sky in order to escape from the fire, but as we kept rising I could feel a wave of heat approaching my back.
"What in the world...? Why is it still so hot...?" I asked. I turned around and saw a huge pillar of fire coming right at Balla. "Balla!!!" I yelled as a watched her being caught by the pillar.
My weird friend made of black holes turned around at the sound of my scream but the pillar was almost about to reach her.
"Balla!!! Go to sleep!!!" I screamed!!
"Oh- Ok!!!"
She followed as I said and entered her absorbing state after closing her eyes. Her body began to suck in everything around her, even myself.
Luckily I could use the wind to fly away from her range. Once the fire reached her it started to get sucked in as well until it disappeared completely. After the danger was over I yelled at her to wake up before she could absorb anything else.
"Balla that's enough!! Open your eyes!!"
She wasn't waking up thought. Now that I think about it, she did say she hasn't had a good sleep in a very long time. For all I know it might be a while before she wakes up again.
"Oh, great..." I mumbled.
I looked down and realized that the baby was charging a huge fireball, much bigger than any of the previous ones. I don't know if even Balla could suck something that big.
"Balla!! Wake up!!! That thing is going to turn us into ashes!!!"
No reaction again. I needed to get her attention. Come on, think! Think! What would make Balla wake up from a deep sleep no matter how tired she was. What was the one thing she cared about the most?
Oh! Oh... Dang it...
"Balla!!!" I screamed again.
The baby had launched his massive fireball at us. Yeah, she definitely would not be able to absorb that thing. I needed to hope my gamble would pay off.
"YOUR BEST FRIEND IS IN DANGER!!!" I said.
She immediately opened her eyes and stared directly into my soul as if she was about to eat me. It was terrifying. How come this girl's normal face was even scarier than when she was a force of nature just eating everything around her??
"You said... Best friends?" She whispered.
"Yes!! Yes, you're my best friend!! Now move out of the way before that hits us!!!"
"You said best friends!!! I heard it!! It's official!! We are best friends!!!"
Oh my Lord... Maybe I should have let the fire burn us.
As I watched my 'best friend' jumping of joy with her new discovery, we both managed to dodge the incoming fire just as it was about to engulf us.
"I think we are high enough... Can you distract him for a bit?" I asked her.
"Anything for you, bestie!!"
She descended to fly around the baby. She seemed much faster now. It seems like absorbing a bit of that fire earlier made her recover some energy.
While the two were busy, I started to focus on my own job. I began to release my power over the winds and the water around me, the same powers that for so long cursed me with a life of forced isolation and constant discrimination. The only gifts I ever received from my parents.
The air around me began to feel colder and the clouds got much darker. The wind would not stop moving and raindrops began to fall.
I took aim of the young boy that was chasing after Balla, and using all my energy, released a massive blast of pure wind forced mixed with water on top of him.
The baby turned around as he felt the sensation of pure cold approaching and before he could react, was completely smacked by my attack.
I felt bad for him a little bit, but the safety of the island came first so I kept unleashing my power.
The baby began to get himself buried under the ground thanks to my blast and before I noticed, that massive wall of fire that was circling him was completely gone, leaving him in the same state of a young toddle with a fireball for a head covered in a red blanket.
Me and Balla approached him to see if he was ok. I assumed that he was about to start crying. That's usually what happens when I play with other kids after all. But to my surprise, he just looked at me and started to laugh.
"... What...?" I asked as I saw him jumping up and down and coming closer to my side.
I wasn't sure of what to do so I just threw him a small ball of water. His flame shrank for a second but suddenly got back to normal again. He then looked at me with the same wide eyes.
"You like water balls?" I asked as I continued to throw more at him. He kept getting drenched, shrinking his fire, and then returning to normal. I guess this was like a game to him.
"Looks like he has calmed down a bit." Balla noticed.
"Great... Let's go back to Mr. serpent then..." I looked at our surroundings and noticed the forest being drenched by the rain I started and the fire beginning to vanish. So, so, so much fire.
I then looked at the baby who was waiting for another water ball with the biggest puppy dog eyes I have ever seen, as if he had nothing to do with all that destruction behind me.
"Well... Aren't you just adorable..." I said trying to remind myself to never anger this kid again.
