Aubrey Carthy lives with her mom in Beaufort, South Carolina. She's sixteen and is an only child. Her mom is a nurse in the town hospital and her dad works abroad, in England. Her mom Natalie, has a co-worker, Catherine Parker who happens to have a son who needs babysitting. Natalie tells Aubrey to take the job and she hesitantly agrees. Insert Xavier Parker. He's had issues with the law and has landed himself on house arrest which means while Catherine works as a nurse and his dad works abroad as a consultant, he needs to be watched. Sworn to secrecy by Xavier, she spends the days with him, stuck, while getting paid to do so. That's why she does it. To get paid. Or does she?
