A Meeting at the Parliament: Part 3

A Meeting at the Parliament: Part 3

The battle raged on, with Robert’s horde of undead clashing violently with the top players. The grand hall of the parliament, once a place of order and governance, was now a chaotic battleground. Debris fell from the ceiling as spells and attacks struck the walls and columns.

Marcus darted through the melee, his daggers flashing as he took down undead minions with swift, precise strikes. “We need to cut through these minions and get to Robert!” he yelled over the din of battle.

Harry nodded, parrying a skeletal warrior’s blade before countering with a powerful slash that sent bones clattering to the floor. “We’re getting close. Keep pushing forward!”

Susan stood at the center of the group, casting healing spells and barriers to protect her allies. Her eyes glowed with magical energy as she unleashed blasts of light that disintegrated clusters of undead. “Stay within range of my spells!” she called out, her voice steady despite the chaos.

Daniel, the Radiant Guardian, was a beacon of hope amidst the darkness, his shield and sword glowing with holy light as he struck down minion after minion. “Hold the line! Don’t let them overwhelm us!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the hall.

Jamal moved like a wraith, his shadowy form appearing and disappearing as he cut down undead with deadly efficiency. “Keep your guard up! They’re coming from all sides!” he warned, his voice sharp and clear.

The sounds of the battle were deafening: the clash of steel against steel, the crackle of magic, and the guttural growls of the undead. The floor trembled under the onslaught of spells and heavy blows. The walls and columns of the parliament groaned under the strain, pieces of stone and plaster raining down from above.

Robert watched the chaos with a twisted smile, his eyes gleaming with malevolent satisfaction. “You’re all fools to resist,” he taunted, raising his hands to summon more undead. “The dead will rise, and you will join them.”

As the battle wore on, the players noticed the undead horde thinning. Harry and Marcus fought their way closer to Robert, their determination unwavering. “We’re almost there!” Harry shouted, cutting down another minion.

Susan unleashed a powerful wave of light, obliterating the last cluster of undead that stood in their way. “We’ve got a clear path to Robert!”

Daniel, Jamal, and the others rallied, converging on Robert’s position. The hall was a wreck, with debris littering the floor and walls scorched and cracked from the fierce combat.

Robert sneered, realizing his minions were nearly exhausted. “Very well,” he muttered, his voice dripping with venom. “If you wish to see true power, I will show you.” He raised his hands, chanting dark incantations. The air grew heavy with malevolent energy.

From the shattered ceiling above, a massive form descended, shaking the very foundations of the building. An alpha wyvern, its scales dark as night and eyes glowing with unnatural light roared as it landed with a thunderous crash. The force of its landing sent shockwaves through the floor, causing cracks to spiderweb across the marble.

The wyvern’s roar was deafening, a primal sound that echoed through the ruins of the parliament. Its wings spread wide, casting a dark shadow over the players. “Meet my strongest minion,” Robert declared, his voice triumphant. “Let’s see how you handle this!”

The players braced themselves as the alpha wyvern lunged forward, its jaws snapping and claws rending the air. Harry rolled to the side, barely avoiding a swipe of its massive tail. “We need to bring it down fast!” he yelled, his voice barely audible over the wyvern’s roars and the sounds of the crumbling building.

Marcus moved with lightning speed, aiming for the wyvern’s underbelly with his daggers. “Aim for its weak spots! We can’t let it tear this place apart!”

Susan channeled her remaining mana into powerful offensive spells, her eyes blazing with determination. She unleashed a concentrated beam of light at the wyvern’s head, momentarily blinding it. “I’ll keep it distracted! Take your shots!”

Daniel charged forward, his shield raised and sword glowing with divine light. “For the living! For our future!” he cried, striking the wyvern’s leg and causing it to stagger.

Jamal appeared behind the wyvern, his blades cutting deep into its tail. “This thing is tough, but we’ve got this! Don’t let up!”

The wyvern roared in pain and fury, thrashing about and causing even more destruction. Large chunks of debris fell from the ceiling, and the walls began to buckle under the strain. The sounds of the battle were a cacophony of roars, clashes, and the crumbling of stone.

Harry found an opening and lunged at the wyvern’s neck, his blade slicing through scales and drawing dark blood. “Now, Marcus! Go for the core!”

Marcus nodded and leaped onto the wyvern’s back, his daggers plunging into the creature’s chest. The wyvern roared in pain, staggering but not falling. It thrashed violently, causing even more destruction. Large chunks of debris fell from the ceiling, and the walls began to buckle under the strain. The sounds of the battle were a cacophony of roars, clashes, and the crumbling of stone.

Susan channeled her remaining mana into a powerful spell, creating a barrier to protect her allies from the falling debris. “We need to hold it off just a little longer!” she screamed; her voice strained.

Daniel struck the wyvern’s leg again, trying to unbalance it. “Keep pushing! We can weaken it!”

Jamal darted in and out, slashing at the wyvern’s tail and limbs, trying to slow it down. “This thing is tough! We need to be smarter!”

The wyvern, though wounded and bleeding, still had fight left in it. With a final, ear-splitting roar, it lashed out with renewed fury, forcing the players to fall back. The ground shook as the creature reared up, its wings spreading wide and creating a gust of wind that knocked several players off their feet.

Seeing the opportunity, Robert smirked and raised his hand. “Enough of this,” he sneered. “You’ve done well, but this battle is over.” He climbed onto the wyvern’s back, using its strength to his advantage.

Harry, struggling to his feet, shouted, “We can’t let him escape!”

Robert looked down at them with contempt. “You may have survived this round, but the war is far from over. I will return, and when I do, you will all fall before me.” With that, he commanded the wyvern to take flight.

The alpha wyvern flapped its massive wings, creating powerful gusts that sent debris flying. It rose into the air, carrying Robert with it. The players could only watch as the Necromancer and his monstrous steed soared through the broken ceiling and into the night sky.

As the dust settled and the echoes of the battle faded, the players stood amidst the wreckage, breathing heavily and assessing the damage. The parliament hall was in ruins, debris scattered everywhere, and the air was thick with dust and the lingering scent of magic.

Susan lowered her barrier, exhaustion evident on her face. “He escaped. But we’ll be ready for him next time.”

Daniel nodded; his face grim but resolute. “We have to be. The stakes are too high.”

Jamal sheathed his blades, his expression serious. “This isn’t over. We need to regroup and plan our next move.”

Harry, Susan, and Marcus exchanged weary but determined looks. “We’ll stop him,” Harry said, his voice firm. “No matter what.”
