The Black city – The base for the Tulpha gangs and the people of the Deep Lands No leader or ruler but they do support Amerghin and worship the dark lord, lawless and dangerous.
Dungerness Island – An active and explosive lava expelling mountainous Island. Where Tuatha meets a mythical creature that becomes his mentor.

Dun Cluana – An Island inhabited by a small nation of sea traders. Dark of skin and hair.

Morann – Caer Omaith’s cousin, niece of Magach king of Enna Aignech, becomes Ruad’s wife.

Rus Fiacha (Feer-kha) – Captain of the Rochad horsemen, Nephew of Findtain, Devorgill’s cousin. Friends with Caer Omaith.
Devorgill, Caer Omaith’s sister, marries Tethra – Two children Mairghread (Margarite) and Fillan. Dies after being captured in battle.

Mac Roth – Oldest and last teacher of Sennol Uathach, also the name of the sword. The only one who has seen the Grand Dark Lord Sennol.
Tulpha gangs – small groups of marauding thieves originating from the Deep Lands and the black city. With no rulers or law, they made their own rules, and it did not protect others. They would even attack other gangs,
Geirgind (Geer-gind) – An old one, who reveals to Tuatha his purpose. Thought to be a being of light.
Alliel and Celthair (Selt-hare) – Tuatha and Laegaire’s children
Buadach and Cuchulain – sub lords of Sennol, eyes and ears to the dark lord, spies in Esclarmonde. Later they try to continue Amerghin’s work and recover Mac Roth, the sword. (Book two)
The Queen Dagemar – Said to have come from Sennol Uathach to escape the evil there. She is regarded as the only good thing to come from that accursed place. Once the wife of Amerghin the sub lord. She is said to live in a cave somewhere on Mt. Dagemar, she travels at night and speaks to people in their dreams.
Fergus, son of Rogh (Roff) – Path finder and guide into Dun- Emain, friend of Aillel king of Athlethan.
Queen Elysia – The young and beautiful queen of Don Cluana.
The Deer Herders- People who live with the deer in Dun Emain. In the past they assisted Emain the first in Battle and then disappeared only to be seen in the forests very occasionally.

Scatach (sat-ack) – Indestructible metal, known only of composition by three chosen people of the Riangbra and the Dark lord of Sennol once a student of Riangbra but corrupted by Sennol himself.
Trias bread - A mix of seed, herbs, and food, with the flavours of a well-cooked Athlethan meal.
Triune gas – The poisonous gas used to bring people under subjection to Sennol Uathach, Emits from Mt Triune in Sennol Uathach.
Salchah (sal-car)- the bane of Sennol Uathach - The First Scatach sword of the king Ailell Findabair, son of Emain the 3rd and great, great grandson of Emain the first. Made with the light of a star from where its name derives, and Leviathan fire, which grants longer life to its bearer, the worthy king or queen of Athlethan.
Mac Roth – The sword Ruad was given, made from fragments of the nine vanquished Scatach swords of the nine rulers and held together by dark power from deep within the planets crust.
The Scabbard of Athlethan – Also of Scatach steel and leather, said to have been lost in the great battle of the outer world, but it was made by the first king of Athlethan and protected by Riangbra, till the coming of the first Scatach sword. Desired by Amerghin. Extends the life of the wearer.
The Magma gates of Sennol Uathach – made by the witch lord Sencha from molten rock and hardened around massive chains that hold the doors shut from the inside.
Aetherclaw juice (Ether-claw) – A drink popular in Athlethan and the southern kingdoms.
