‘What is wrong with me these days?’ Ailith thought to herself. ‘I’m being way too paranoid.’ However, it couldn’t be helped. Her one goal in this was to complete this mission and after saving Xavier, flee the country. Hopefully with everything going on in both countries, they would be too distracted to notice the two of them missing.
Ailith sucked in a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She had overestimated herself back in the suburbs. Only after having been forced to live like this did she realize just how carefree her life had been before she switched tiers. Back then, her biggest worries were food. Now, Ailith could die at any possible moment. How stubborn she’d been in assuming that life would be easier after the switch.
Ailith took a quick glance at the clock. She still had 3 hours left before lunch. Groaning, she pushed herself off the bed. “I might as well explore the premises.” Knowing there were eyes everywhere in the palace, Ailith went to her wardrobe and sorted through it until she found the simplest yet still elegant dress she could find. “This’ll do” she said as she picked out a yellow dress.

Ailith quickly put it on and took a look at herself in the giant mirror. She would have preferred to wear pants but oh well...nothing she could do now. The dress itself was just as she had wanted, it was a cute, simple, knee length dress that puffed out at her waist. It wasn’t as frilly as the fancier dresses and it wasn’t a piece of cloth either. It was just perfect. Ailith headed towards the door, reaching for the knob but stopped mid-track. Ailith had forgotten her weapons. Most likely case was that she wouldn’t use them but still, it couldn’t hurt to be too careful. Ailith had to take precautions.
She went back into her wardrobe and carefully started to swipe her hands beneath the dresses. Once she found what she had been looking for, she grabbed the handles and hauled it out from underneath. Her assortment of weapons. Ailith stashed several knives in a knife holster she had strapped onto her thigh and carefully placed a small pistol into one of the dress’s hidden pockets. They were all in easy to reach places should she ever be put in a difficult position. “There.” AIlith said as she checked herself out for the last time. She smoothed out any obvious wrinkles and slipped on her flats. “Ready to go.”
