Chapter 32
Mickey faintly heard the sound of the speedster reporting his location shorty before being assailed by a hailstorm of punches.
Pronto was keeping to the standard tactics for temporal shift speedsters. Hit and run strikes from multiple directions, keeping the victim off guard, don’t stand still and don’t attack in a pattern.
As soon as the beat down began Cargo placed his back against a grocery aisle and shook an opened bag of flour into the air, concealing himself in a pale cloud and palmed a glass jar.
Mickey kept his guard up, covering his vital areas, letting Pronto expend his accelerated time against Mickey’s spatial control. As with most things Mickey power didn’t stop the hits, as much as weaken them slightly helping him to endure while he waited for the real threat to arrive.
With an enormous crash the Brisbane Battler slammed through the wall of the faux grocery store and through an aisle display. Mickey immediately threw his jar of sodium flakes and water into the air and vaulted into the staff kiosk.
As soon as Cargo lost his ‘grip’ on the jar, the sodium reacted with the water to produce hydrogen, oxygen and heat. This promptly exploded violently and set the cloud of flour alight as well, engulfing the Brisbane Battler inflames.
Quickly picking himself off the ground Cargo assessed the situation.
Battler on fire and blind for thirty seconds, And pronto left that line of smoke as he retreated, likely towards Mirror Mask for support. That means Megabolt is covering the opposite side there.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
As soon as he emerged from the building Mickey’s shroud negated a bolt of lightning with just enough juice to put a baseline onto the ground. As he charged towards Megabolt, intent on taking out at least one opponent, She rapidly increased the power of her electrical blasts, trying to find his limit without frying his nervous system.
Unfortunately for Megabolt, Cargo managed to cover the distance and knock her off her feet with a shoulder charge. Following up his charge by kicking her in the ribs Mickey tried to stomp on her knee but was stopped by a forest green disc, telekinetic held by Captain Amazing from the observer room.
‘Megabolt, Out by trauma.’
Mickey looked towards the observe room in annoyance before scanning the street vaguely hoping he could find Mirror Mask alone and defenceless. Instead he saw a singed but otherwise unharmed Brisbane Battler sailing at him, propelled by a super strong jump.
Mickey then did the worst possible thing.
He froze and considered his options.
While he was weighing his options of ‘run’ and ‘spend seconds pulling an improvised grenade’ The Battler slammed a haymaker into Mickey’s sternum, shattering bones, rupturing organs and sending the unfortunate meta flying into the wall of the building across the street, breaking yet more bones.
Oh you fucking bitch.
He thought towards Captain Amazing.

In the observation chamber, Laminae gasped as she watched her boyfriend get shattered against the mock building. She furiously turned to the woman beside her but found her head telekinetically forced towards the window.
‘Wait. Watch.’ Said Captain Amazing tersely.
On the street, The Brisbane Battler rushed towards Mickey, panic obvious on his face. He expected Captain Amazing to interpose a shield to prevent serious injuries.
However before he could reach him, Mickey was engulfed in pitch back smoke and vanished, leaving only a quickly diminishing cloud.
Just before the last wisps of Mickeys power disappeared, they boiled outwards into the shape of man standing.
They then dissipated, revealing Mickey, completely uninjured and completely naked.
Mickey for his part fell to all fours, threw up, and the passed out in a pool of his own vomit.
Captain amazing gave a satisfied grunt before activating the loud speaker.
‘Cargo, Out, unconscious due to Power Break.’
