Jason really had no choice but the join with the world's premiere Raiding guild, the Syndicate. Born to a poor, low-class family with many starving Cousins, there was no other way to earn the Gold he needed...at this point, the Syndicate had "farm status" over almost all the world's main Dungeons and Raids. Yet, this ultimately means they'd grown complacent. Without any real competition or challenge, the Syndicate had become stagnant in their methodology. That's why - even after barely passing his physical Entry Exams...all Jason saw around him was groups destined to wipe.

Modern magi-tech body-enhancement had made much of the "challenge" of raiding and running dungeons all but irrelevant. Even teenagers and other total greenhorns were able to simply physically overpower Orcs and Ogres after a single visit to the Sorceror-Surgeon. Farming gold and other loot had become routine. People forgot "how to play.". That's why, when overnight, the difficulty of every Dungeon and Raid suddenly dramatically increased, the world was completely unprepared. Almost every star breadwinner of every family and clan came back in a bodybag that night. That's why even weaklings like Jason, who magi-tech enhancements could only do so much for, were even being forced to sign up, to feed their families.
