The repercussions of the previous day were now coming to light. The whole school was under investigation, and each student was not free to leave without being monitored.
"Ari, if people know that we were here yesterday, we're finished"
"Yeah... how did we get in this mess?"
"It's fine... it makes things more interesting, at least."
The faculty were on high alert and watched the students' every move. A murder in a school is certainly something that could tarnish its reputation. Asahi had his cookery class for the rest of the day, so despite there being such high average surveillance, only one teacher was present in the room.
"Hey, what do you think about that murder that just happened?"
A pretty face glared at him, awaiting a response.
"Jeez, Bianca, don't just pop out like that.... and... you're quite close..."
She realized, blushed, and retracted. They both took a minute to relax, and carried on with the conversation.
"Well, it's definitely creepy. I mean, I've never actually been so near a dead body before,"
"Yeah, it's strange to think about. I've read books about this kind of murder mystery, but it's actually like we're in one right now!"
Asahi remembered how she'd previously taunted him for liking books, but he let that go for now.
"Did you know him personally, Bianca? Dr Lakem, I mean,"
"Oh, no not really, but I remember him being a pretty good-looking guy,"
"Oh, that's a shame, you can't go out with him now..."
"Asahi, that's dark..."
She laughed, but her laughter slowly turned to crying.
"I can't... believe someone was... m-murdered.... at this school..."
She sobbed.
"I... I'm scared..."
She was trembling bitterly, like a lost child in a theme park. Her vulnerability was very open, and Asahi felt his heart race a little.
"Hey, er, It'll be okay"
He slowly moved his arm around her, seeing her reaction. She didn't seem to back off, so he hugged her tightly. The contrast between her character now and her dominating aura at the library was rather intense.
"Wow, you're really skinny, dude,"
She giggled amongst her tears.
"Hey, come on, I was just trying to cheer you up,"
"Aw, I was just teasing you a bit... and you definitely have nerves, hugging a girl in the middle of a chemistry experiment,"
As soon as she finished her taunt, the yeast exploded, and all of their hard work was melting on the floor.
"Ahhh, Bianca, look what you did!"
"Hey, it wasn't just my fault, jerk!"
The rest of the class looked and laughed. You'd think the pair of them were kindergarteners, looking at their current state.
"Well, whatever, let's just get cleaned up."
The class finished, and everyone went home.
"Oh, hey bro, did you finish school?"
Asahi's younger sister, Ayana, was watching some TV.
"I heard one of your teachers got murdered at school"
"Oh, er, yeah, it's pretty scary to think about".
The conversation stopped. Asahi didn't dislike his sister, but he couldn't help feeling that he was obliged to get along with her. Given the option of not having her in the family, he would take it.
The nature of love is something powerful. I believe the human desire to feel loved is something inherent to them. No matter how cold a person may believe themselves to be, it is not possible to be without some desire for attention. The intelligence humans possess requires them to think, and that thinking leads to a high quotient of individuality among people. This individuality is what causes people to become so lonely. A human's intelligence, while it may be their most powerful trait, is also the thing that causes their desolation. The simple logical connections made day to day can be extrapolated into a profound variety of outcomes. A simple understanding of probability suffices to explain: given that a human makes 100 decisions a day, because each decision differs, even if only by around 2%, their actions expand to a spread of around 87%. This is an overly simplistic example, but it should show the inherent complexity of the human conscience. Despite being newly birthed, I would be as bold as to say that everything a human does is for love - in some form or another.
"We have breaking news coming from Ansansas High School. There was a ruthless murder on the campus, and the victim was a young Dr Lakem, a promising teacher who'd just moved into the academy. The culprit has been discovered to be Soriya H, a brilliantly talented art student in the first year".
