First, Jhiah wanted to see what his new energy type, Essence, was. He'd never heard of it before.
-Essence is the energy used by Ancients, gods, and most Champions. It is far stronger and much more refined than lesser types, and gives all of your spells a bonus feature or a small increase to overall power.-
Jhiah was amazed by this, although he was slightly confused about the "Champions" mentioned in the description. He also checked his new Shield subtype:
-Your Shield takes 10% less damage from Void-type attacks and 20% less damage from Radiant-type ones.-
His new Shield was also incredible - perhaps even better than Essence, although he'd have to check his spell and skill descriptions first. Which he proceeded to do. First was Radiant Bolt:
-Fires a bolt of Radiant energy, inflicting a small amount of damage. Essence boost: Two bolts are fired instead of one.-
Essence was looking quite good so far. Dissolve was next.
-Slowly corrode's an opponent's Shield before moving on to dissolving their body. Essence boost: Shield takes damage twice as fast.-
Dissolve seemed like quite a powerful skill, which explained its outrageous cost. Moving on to Radiant Storm:
-Creates a small cloud of Radiant energy, which periodically strikes foes with Radiant lightning. Essence boost: Cloud's size is doubled.-
Radiant Blast:
-Fires a cone-shaped blast of Radiant energy, applying a large amount of force and damaging enemies. Essence boost: Overall power is increased.-
Radiant Warp:
-Teleports the caster. Essence boost: Range is doubled.-
Radiant Heal:
-Heals wounds and restores Shield of the target. Essence boost: Also applies a temporary increase to the target's Shield regeneration if used out of combat.-
Radiant Restoration:
-Removes negative status effects. Essence boost: More powerful effects can be cleansed.-
Holy Purge (Radiance):
-Radiant energy emanates from the caster, damaging all enemies within a medium-size area. Damage to Radiant-type creatures is halved, and damage to Void-type creatures is doubled. Essence boost: Damage to Void-type creatures is doubled again.-
Essence was certainly looking to be better than his new Shield type so far. On to Curse of Light.
-Curses the target. This lowers their maximum Shield and energy and slightly increases their skill and spell cooldowns. Essence boost: The Curse siphons energy from the target, making it a permanent status effect and lowering maximum energy even further.-
Curse of Light appeared to be incredibly powerful. Thanks to its short cooldown, he could just go around cursing people left and right, although he wouldn't do that... probably. Next was Holy Plague (Radiance).
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
-Infects the target with a disease fueled by Radiant energy, reducing physical strength and magical capabilities and periodically inflicting a negative status effect. The affliction can spread to nearby entities simply by being within a small vicinity of an infected creature. The plague will not spread to any you consider friends or allies. The effects are halved against Radiant-type creatures and are doubled against Void-type ones. Essence boost: The plague can dwell in and on objects, allowing water, food and other items to be infected. Negative status effects are now much stronger and last longer, and the disease itself is harder to dispel. Also removes the duration, so the plague must be eradicated through extensive effort in order to prevent further spread.-
Jhiah just stared at the spell's description. Judging from what was described, it could be used to fell entire armies and bring entire cities to ruin, yet its cooldown was so short. He hesitantly checked the description of Holy Smite (Radiance) as well.
-Smites an enemy with holy light, inflicting massive damage to their Shield. If the enemy's Shield is broken, they are engulfed in Radiant fire, destroying a large portion of their body and likely killing them. Damage is halved against Radiant-type creatures and doubled against Void-type ones. Essence boost: Damage against Void-type creatures is doubled again.-
Holy Smite also appeared incredibly powerful in Jhiah's eyes.
Now on to check his skills...
Essence Mastery:
-Determines the maximum Essence of the skill's owner. The owner's level is multiplied by their Essence Mastery level, resulting in their maximum Essence.-
The standard energy supply skill. Now Radiant Breath:
-Provides the skill's owner with a 0.1% per skill level reduction to damage from Radiant-type attacks. This skill's level is linked to Light in the Dark's level, if both are owned.-
Light in the Dark:
-Provides the skill's owner with a 0.1% per skill level reduction to damage from Void-type attacks. This skill's level is linked to Radiant Breath's level, if both are owned.-
Stealth:
-Makes the skill's owner harder to see if they are actively sneaking. Once per day, the skill's owner can make their body 1% transparent per skill level for a duration of 1 second per skill level.-
Exploit Weakness:
-If the target of the skill has their weakness exposed and/or known to the skill's owner, the skill's owner can exploit it to inflict massive damage to the target. Damage scales with skill level.-
And now for the "Ancient Capabilities." First he checked the description of the actual ability type, because that took priority.
-Ancient Capabilities are unique to the Ancient who wields them or to Ancients as a whole. They are always incredibly powerful.-
Jhiah prepared his mind for the strength of these powers, and opened the description of Indestructible (Radiance).
-You take 30% less damage from all attacks except Radiant-type ones and Void-type ones. In the case of these attacks, damage is halved.-
Jhiah closed his eyes. Breathe. Opening them again, he selected Radiant Mastery.
-Automatically maxes out the power of all Radiant-type spells, removing the need to display their level in your menu. Also changes the base cooldown of Holy Plague (Radiance) from 10 years to 1 year.-
And thus Holy Plague's cooldown was explained. He next checked Radiant Call.
-Summons 100 Avatars of Radiance. They last until destroyed, and have the same appearance as you, except they are made completely of light. They have 10% of your maximum Shield and Essence, and can use all of your skills and spells with 10% of your power with them. They also have the Indestructible (Radiance) Ancient Capability, but no other Capabilities. The Avatars of Radiance obey your every command, and have your level of intelligence and physical prowess.-
Here was another incredibly powerful ability with an incredibly short cooldown. At least this one had a massive Essence cost. And now Shield of Light.
-Gives your Shield the Radiant subtype and makes your maximum Essence and Shield the same. Also removes the Shield Strength skill, merging it with Essence Mastery. Levels are gained in Essence Mastery when they would be gained in Shield Strength.-
With that finally out of the way, Jhiah stood up.
"Hey! Who's there?"
Jhiah turned to respond.
