On the foundation of the Armiallira Colony:

It is theorized that in approximately 1348 AX. a great spore cloud was released in the mountainous glades in Northern Palaria. This cloud was released into a ravine that cuts deep into the mountain. One spore had landed on the body of an Ancient One, who had fallen out of the sky during the Falling of the Ancients (see Great Calamity) and found its final resting place in the tall cavern. The spore began to feed on the life essence of the Ancient One and began to grow at an unparalleled rate. It has been estimated that for about 200 years it grew undisturbed, creating super colonies around it, with itself as the one who stands above it all. The first Mushroom, as it became known, began to take the physical form of a tree, reflecting the nature of the Ancient that it sprouted from. It was first discovered in 1587 AX on accident by Lefore Hensx while he was fleeing persecution (See Rat-Man Genocide).

The creation of Cavelight:

Hensx, a radical Rat-Man independence thinker, snuck back into the citadel and brought the idea of creating refuge in the mountain before an underground council of Rat-Men leaders. Skeptical at first, the council quickly changed their opinion upon viewing the cavern. Finding it habitable with soil that could be used to grow the roots that Rat-Men could subsist upon, the council established an outpost in the cavern. They induced a great exodus of Rat-Men from the citadel (see The Leaving of the Rat-Men). After their long journey, the caravan arrived in the Cavern in 1589 AX, establishing the town of Cavelight. Hensx was elected as the first governor of Cavelight, where he established a democratic republic designed in almost complete opposition to the Citadel’s monarchical society.
