Prologue: Old man

432 BC

----------------------------------------

In a pitch-dark room, there were five shining lights on a wooden table. They were in an assortment of different colors: green, dark-brown, light-orange, yellow, and dark purple. Anyone looking could tell that these rings weren't anything ordinary. They looked to be somewhat magical, in a way. Standing in front of the table, was an old man in a dark cloak. He had messy, white hair that looked like it hasn’t been washed in ages. He looked to be in his seventies or eighties. Looking at the rings, he was overjoyed and ecstatic. In a corner of the room, was a young man in a brown tunic. He looked very worried and scared for the old man.

"YES! My lifelong goal has been achieved! I have finally got all eight of them!" yelled the old man. Then, he burst into a fit of coughing. The young man came over and propped him up. He passed the old man a cup of lukewarm water. He asked concernedly, "Are you okay master? Please, don't overdo yourself. You should know what would happen if you do that." In a smaller voice, the old man told him kindly, "Thank you kid, but this old man's life is coming to an end. When I die, pass along these eight great treasures to whoever is worthy." “No! Master! You can’t die yet. You still have so much to do! You have accomplished so much!” The old man was silent. “Master?” he shook the old man, “Master?”

After trying many times to wake his master, he realized what has happened. He cried in an anguished voice, “Master!!” The young man started to sob quietly. He cried out for everyone to hear, “Master! I will help you accomplish your last, dying wish no matter what I have to go through.” Then, he stored all of the five rings inside a pouch on his waist. He opened the door and onto his horse. He would be going on a long, arduous journey to find the five successors for his master.
