The After
1. Mother?

1. Mother?

The sky was dark red. The town was torn to pieces after the harsh battle against Demon King Tanjiro. Everyone had been ripped apart and absorbed. Including almost all of the Demon Slayers. There had been no one left to train the remaining slayers and they were left to the unknown not knowing what to do. Though the Hashiras were so close to defeating Muzan, Muzans feelings and pursuing his dream of being the perfect immortal being would continue to live and was passed to Tanjiro.

A couple of years later...

"Hey! Watch where you are going you almost fell off that cliff," I said grabbing my younger twin by the shirt. Though we were twins, I was older by a minute according to my father. They were going to collect herbs for their sick mother. "I don't want to lose you too. Father had already passed a couple of days ago. Brother hasn't been feeling good and has gone missing. Mother is on her deathbed. I can't lose you too."

"Yeah I know stop bringing it up it's gonna make me cry again.' Kliamo had crouched down picking nearby leaves in hopes it would work as medicine." She picked every single leaf and vine and carefully placed it into her basket.

"I should probably start heading back to our cottage. Mother will worry too much." I say trying to bring my sister up to her feet but she sank all her body weight to stay crouching down.

"You can go I just want to make sure we have enough herbs and food for the next few days, there gonna be a full moon soon and we can't go out during that time."

"OK alright then. Promise me you will come back before sunset. You don't know what's out there especially since people have been reported missing throughout the nearby village." I say making her pinkie promise me. I started walking on the pathway looking at Kliamo one last time. Praying that she will be safe. But you never know what will happen.

That night...

I was pacing anxiously around as Mother's condition had not gotten any better. She had been sweating in her sleep. Her pulse is getting slower and slower. I don't know how much longer she will survive. Or Kliamo. She hasn't made it back yet and it was already dark. I was preparing for the worst until I saw a white sakura kimono far in the distance. "Kliamo!" I yell heading out the front door.

"I'm back-" She started saying but then stopped in her tracks.

"What happened?" I say rushing over to her. "Are you hurt? Are you Kliamo?" I say patting her down. I look up to see an unpleasant expression on her face. Suddenly, I see blood splatter across my back causing my white kimono to be stained. "M-Mother?"

"We have to go." Kliamo had said. Grabbing my wrist before I could even look back. "go, Go, GO!! WE HAVE TO GO"

"Has mother turned into a demon?" I could hear twigs breaking. Extra footsteps coming from behind us increasing the pace. I was 100% sure Mother had.

"ggGGEt BbacKk hherrrEee" scratch

"We aren't gonna make it! Oh no we're back at the cliff we were at just this

afternoon. We have to make it across!" Kliamo said scrambling to look for something. Anything that would help us.

"There's no way we're making it across! We just have to accept our fate." I say as

tears start building up. I glance at Kliamos's face one last time before. Her mid-length hair and bangs cover part of her face. This was it. No more worrying about illnesses or demons. "What do you mean 'we?' Kliamo had said. Picking me up. Though she was younger, she was stronger. She threw me across. I grabbed a nearby branch and was hanging off the edge.

I could see my life flashing before my eyes. All the memories with Kliamo were gonna be gone in a flash. "I hope you can continue to live a life we couldn't experience together. I wish you the best, Kiari." Was the last thing I heard her say before she leaped off. Causing mother or I don't even know if I can call her mother anymore to yell gibberish as she death glared at me while I used the rest of my strength to climb up before crawling back off into the forest.

I felt the tears fall. Nothing could replace her. The only one who cared for me when I was sick. No one else was ever caring for me. It was always the opposite. Not that I had lost the only reason for me to keep living, I don't know what I'm gonna do now.
