I don't think I realized that he wanted to speak to me. Usually, he said we'd talk, but we never got to it. I was fine with that. Talking wasn't my strong suit, and James was always so serious. I got this weird feeling in my gut when he asked to talk. It was one of those things that just came to me. In the end, there was never any reason to worry. He'd come home, and we'd eat dinner, and then we'd go to bed.
Today was different though. He brought home fast food for dinner. He didn't say a word at the dinner table, but I didn't say anything to him either. I guess that just upset him. I'll admit that I wasn't a very confident person. I didn't like talking to others because it scared me, and I preferred when James was quiet because he scared me too.
When we went to bed, he sat down and looked at me with this longing look in his eyes. He reached out his hand. I took it in my hands, kissing his knuckles, his palm, his wrist. All the while he didn't say a word. I pressed my lips to his wrist again.
"Adonis."
I slipped his pointer finger into my mouth.

"Adonis."
Is sucked.
"We have to break up." His words stopped me in my tracks. I stared at the floor, his finger still on my tongue. His hand smelled like strawberries and sugar.
"You cheated." My voice was a low whisper. My hand clenched his wrist. My teeth nipped the tip of his finger. I could hear him gulp. I took a step forward, planted my hands at his sides, and looked at him. His eyes trailed away, leaving me behind in my self-pity. "Don't you love me?" I didn't mean to upset him. I only wanted to know why he had done what he did, but he got angry at me.
"What? Of course, I do! You're the one who doesn't care about me! I could go all day long, and give you no attention whatsoever, and you wouldn't even bother to say a word to me. You selfish! Asshole!"
I didn't mean to make him angry, and I didn't mean to scare him either. I dug my fingers into his thighs, looked him right in the eyes, and said, "Shut. Up." I stared him down, making it a point to look him right in the eyes. "Now be a good little boy, and tell your new buddy to go fuck himself." He squeezed his eyes shut, tight, nodding his pretty little head quickly.
"Good."
