In the year 2138 AD,
DMMO-RPG The acronym for 'Dive Massively Multiplayer Online—Role Play Game' was incredibly famous among the masses due to their ability to immerse the player directly into the virtual reality of the game.
Among the top DMMO-RPGs on the market, one was at the top of their hierarchy.
'Yggdrasil'
Released after a high-end development 12 years ago in the year 2126 AD.
The game was different from most of the other DMMORPGs in terms of 'player freedom',
With over 4000 job classes ranging from basic (Level 1) to advanced (Level 15), and almost infinite customization with armory, weapons, and appearance,.
The world of Yggdrasil consisted of a total of nine worlds based on the 'Norse' mythology known as Asgard, Alfheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim.
These massive worlds, with numerous classes and high customizations, made Yggdrasil the top-selling RPG in Japan.
But things were not the same after a decade. With new, more immersive RPGs rising, Yggdrasil was losing its peak with members migrating to other newer RPGs.
Then, the day came when the developers of Yggdrasil finally announced the closing of the game.

A giant conference table in the center of the room is made with a single-cut black stone with gold trimming on the side and surrounded by a total of 41 luxurious chairs.
All the seats were mostly empty; there once was a time when all those seats were occupied, but now only two are occupied.
One of the seated members was clothed in a purple robe with gold trim on the ends, with some structures made of dragon bones resting on the shoulders. The overall build was enough to show the true power of the individual.
The head of the individual was none other than a bare skull with points of dark red light glowing inside the eye orbits.
On the other seat was a mass of black tar-like substance.
The former was an 'Overlord' of the highest order of undead with an immense amount of magical powers; the latter was called an 'Elder Black Slime', a notorious race of slimes known for their corrosive properties.
They were not monsters but of a particular race. In Yggdrasil, players can choose their avatar races from humans, demi-humans, and heteromorphs.
They were both of the highest order of the heteromorphic race that can be played in the game.
"It's been a long time, HeroHero; I didn't expect you to show up on the last day of Yggdrasil."
"It's been a long time indeed, Momonga."
"You stopped coming here due to some of your job-related reasons, so how long has it been... more than two years?"
"Ahh, it's like that only. It's been a long time—2 years. I've been doing so much overtime in my office recently that the concept of time is starting to go weird."
"That's bad. How's your health been up to these days?"

"I can't say; it's been a long time since I visited a doctor, and sometimes I feel like I am living in my avatar."
"Oh, that's terrible."
Both players were office workers IRL, and the conditions of the companies were harsh during this period; they were also known as 'Black Companies' due to their overtime, overwork, and underpay.
However, the majority of people don't like to talk about their IRL experiences in the virtual world of the RPG.
But the Guild Ainz Ooal Gown was different; there were two conditions to joining the guild: one was that the player must be a working member of society, and the other was that they have to be from a heteromorphic race.
Because of these rules, the majority of the topics of conversation revolve around the lives and jobs of real life.
After about fifteen minutes of conversation about the treatment he receives from the black company, HeroHero starts to slow down, realizing that he's complaining a lot about his IRL incidents.
"I... I made you listen to my problems; I can't complain much about it Irl."
Momonga, with a smiley Emojicon, hoping to comfort his friend, said,
"It's alright, HeroHero. I made you come online despite you being busy. For my friend, I am all ears."
"I'm grateful for that, Momonga, but how's your life been going after defeating a world enemy alone? I got the news about that a long time ago but was unable to congratulate you at that time."
"Haha, it's good, but it would be great if you all were there with me too; without friends, it's just boring."
"Touch decision was correct to use Limitbreaker on you. You made us proud guild leaders."
Limitbreaker is a world-class item made up of the sapling of the world tree, consisting of the power to conquer all nine words. Once used by the user, it shatters the level cap of the player, making it grow indefinitely in power.
"It's all due to the guild; whatever we build, whatever we achieve, it's a joint effort of the guild."
Glancing towards the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, which is said to be the most powerful guild weapon in all of the Yggdrasil, its power is comparable to that of a world-class item, he said in a proud tone.
"Our guild weapon is an example of our effort, the guild's effort, and our friendship; all the members gave their countless hours just to harvest its materials."
"It's true, Momonga; I am glad that you were our leader."
"I am very happy to hear that hero."
"Ohh, it's time. I need to log out, Momonga."
The black slime hovered his tentacle, like operating some menu to see the time.
"Indeed, it's getting very late."
"I am sorry, Momonga, to leave you like this. I wanted to stay, but I need some sleep to work."
"No problem, Herohero; you seem tired too. It's not a big thing."
"Thanks for taking care of our guild and being a great guild master. Let's meet sometime, IRL."
"..."
Momonga wanted to say something, but he controlled it; if he was able to show his emotions, his face must be twisted in anger.
"Thanks, Hero Hero, IRL, it is then."
After showing a smiley emoticon, the hero just vanished in pixels.

Silence spread in the guild's conference room, with Momonga alone sitting here.
Momonga, in a rage, banged the table, muttering the words he needed to say earlier.
"Let's meet IRL... where IRL... when IRL."
Placing both of his hands on the table, he sighed
"Everyone has said that, but nothing ever came true."
Momonga, or Suzuki Satoru in real life, was a 32-year-old man living alone with no family or friends; all he had was Yggdrasil, where he made his true friends whom he could call family, but all things came to an end today.
"The Great Tomb of Nazarik, which we all build with our virtual blood and sweat... How could you all abandon it that easily?"
After shouting these words, there was nothing but silence.
"No, no one abandoned it; they just all chose their real lives, that's all."
After getting up from the chair, he teleported to the 8th floor cherry blossom sanctuary, thinking,
'It's the final day of Yggdrasil; why not take out the real staff of Ainz Ooal Gown the last time?'
After entering the sanctuary, he found a little girl standing around the age of sixteen, wearing a traditional Japanese kimono.
Ainz came closer and spoke in his real overlord character.
"I am here to take the staff... All Hail, Ainz Ooal Gown!"

Momonga entered the room, picked up the staff, and teleported to the throne room.

Somewhere, far away, in a strange temple, a dragon was searching for something across many worlds. It was hoping to find a specific individual when suddenly something happened. The walls of the temple shook, and a loud, roaring laugh filled the air. With a smile on his face, the dragon exclaimed.
"I found you finally... Haa, Momonga, and Yggdrasil, it will be fun."

Author's Note:
1. I don't own Overlord or Tensura.
2. The story will not follow the canon but will have the timeline of Tensura.
3. It will be a long fic, so give a review so that I can improve.
4. Don't comment like Momonga will be dusted in Tensura; the power levels are just different. Just see then what will happen because Momonga ya Ainz... is not a bad Overlord Slurp~
