In various libraries around the Human Realm, Arkos, and in some few around the rest of the Five Realms, a certain book could be found shelved among its many other variants. A book of philosophical musings pertaining the world and the possible existence of another.

The Link of Two Worlds by a renowned philosopher, Grenn Lavel.

In the eyes of some though, the book just contained the unrefined ramblings of an imaginative man.

Before I begin, it should be known that the knowledge of the existence of another world aside ours has been nestled, if vaguely in some, into the minds of every being in this world. Be it from rumours, folklore or the rare observation of the signs sent by the universe.

All these share some common ground, that the idea of another world existing is not at all madness.

But is there a relationship between both worlds? What are the links to these two worlds?

The book then goes on to give a detailed narration of the history of the Five Realms, both true and false, then associating the history with the stories said of this possibly existing other world. Perhaps an interesting hundred pages for those who loved the mundane monotone of never ending descriptions. Otherwise, it was a complete bore.

In a certain copy of the book, kept lazily on the desk of a keen researcher in the lone universe known as his study room, some commentary could be found at the end of most of the pages.

Stories of beings belonging to another world are seldom found unheard of in a province or town across the world. Magic is a never concluded topic of research, with many aspects of it still undiscovered and a terrifying mystery. No one could reasonably argue the possibility of travelling to another world.

It could be that what we still struggle to fully understand here is already common knowledge there, and vice versa. Historians also claim the true reason behind the inhabitance of odd biomes like the Sky or the parts beneath the earth is due to the interface of beings from the other world.

– This makes no sense. You're simply repeating what you wrote on page 123, under Section 2. The historians who said this were all assassinated during the Reclaiming Wars. A befitting end for those scum.

The author included every opinion manifested from different aspects of the Five Realms, whether religious or philosophical, into his paged bundle of speculations and musings. A bit contradictory in some parts, which did not go unnoticed and were penned furiously down in the commentaries, but perhaps it was his way of showing that he viewed all perspectives of the world equally.

– An utter waste of time. And he calls himself a philosopher. The whole point of the Avoria religion founded deep in the mountains of Arrthal is to deny the existence of any life outside the Five Realms, and to consider any such existing life as an enemy to the Great.

Flipping through this particular copy of the book, various inconsistencies could be spotted in its contents, all pointed out by the precise and rushed critical jottings below the pages. Some parts of the writings looked like gibberish, though, but careful inspection would reveal that they were in fact written in the ancient mirror scripted technique abandoned by various scholars for a more simple writing style.

Thanks to this minimal and personal contribution, anyone who would come across this copy of the book, researcher or the average person alike, would recognise the stroke of madness found in books like this that no one liked to point out. And in various other books in this mysterious realm of a study room, similar scribbles of concise criticism and scant praises could be seen penned down in many pages.

Though a noteworthy point should be mentioned about The Link of Two Worlds, with the point being on the very last page and the very last sentence in the book.

To reduce my words to a ponderable question, I say this: One world is a dream of another. But the real question is, which world is the dream?

– This is actually a good question. The idea behind dreams is the biggest mystery in the universe, and could no doubt prove the existence of an alternate world. Finally, something worth my interest in this book, though its entirety fails to explain anything relating to this musing.

K.

Indeed, for his initial to be seen at the end of a commentary, it would mean that its contents were full of the rare praises that came from the researcher who was hardly impressed by philosophical books. It would appear that Grenn Lavel might hold some level of worth, after all.
