Chapter 3: Party Only When In Advantage

Chapter 3: Party Only When In Advantage

Fucking wolves! Why the fuck starting monsters are so fucking strong?! I picked warrior like my brother, and now that our sis is missing, we don’t have a healer! Fuck!

I block one of the wolves with my shield, but the other one bites my leg, causing a fuck ton of damage. We picked the quest with that dude in the church and went straight to the forest to look for wolves to kill and soldiers to rescue.

And now, here we fucking are, we found three guards getting their asses kicked, and joined them just to get fucked too! They’re useless, getting downed as soon as we get here and the other one is about to get fucked too!

(Me): “Get those wolves away from him!”

I scream to my brother, trying to go to the guard to keep him alive, but we’re still pinned by the wolves… when something flies by us, a streak of fire striking the wolf and exploding, killing it instantly.

(???): “Need any help lads?”

I hear a voice asking out loud.

(Me): “Yes!”

I scream instantly, not even looking back.

(Poison’s POV)

(warrior #1): “Yes!”

I smile, channeling the next fireball, hitting one of the wolves that is biting the warrior. The wolf doesn’t lose aggro, but with those two in the defensive I won’t be able to kill them without getting shredded myself.

(Poison): “Don’t stand there getting your ass bitten off, hit them back! You need to keep them hitting you!”

The one of the warriors actually looks over his shoulder, the one that screamed, looking at me with confusion, but his buddy obeys instantly, hitting his wolves. He causes a negligible amount of damage, but that is enough.

I channel a fireball, hitting one of the wolves of the second warrior, obviously causing max damage but not changing aggro. The wolves also suffers from some extra fire damage, fireball causes damage over time too for a short time after hitting the target.

The first warrior also starts hitting his wolves, and I start aiming for his wolves as well. After that it’s easy, without them getting aggro on me. We finish the wolves quickly, and I’m almost depleted on mana. As the last wolf falls, I approach the two players, one of which already fell down on his ass.

(Poison): “That was a close one, eh?”

The warrior that yelled earlier looks at me, and I can get a better look at him now. A tall guy, around 1,80, making me look a bit up to look at him. He’s massively built, comically buff. Clearly, he messed with the sliders in character customization. He’s also blonde and has blue eyes, and his face is a bit handsome, but there is something off about it, making it clear that he customized his face. This is quite common seeing in the early stages of the game, items for appearance changing are quite expensive after all.

Stolen novel; please report.

(Maximus): “Yeah, that was a close one dude. Thanks a lot! Names Maximus, that one sitting is my brother, Randall.”

He says, pointing to the guy sitting on the ground. He’s way smaller than Maximus, with brown hair, quite young face that looks perfectly natural, with dark brown eyes and light tan. This dude didn’t change his character at all, it seems.

(Poison): “Nice to mee you guys, names Poison.” I shake hands with Maximus and Randall, who doesn’t seem American at all.

I the approach the guards, the one still up, looking at us, says:

(guard): “Thanks for that, adventurers. You really saved us.”

I smile, putting a hand on his shoulders.

(Poison): “It’s nothing soldier. You should first tend to your friends, they seem wounded.”

The guard nods, running to his friends and pulling out some bandages and two potions. Maximus approaches me.

(Maximus): “You’re really polite with the NPCs, huh?”

(Poison): “Well, they’re intelligent after all. There’s isn’t any need in making enemies with them. And WoW is different from other MMOs as well, I’m sure a hidden quest or something will come out of being nice with them.”

I say, remembering that this is actually true. NPCs that like certain players will give them opportunities to get crazy quest chains that lead to powerful items.

(Randall): “That makes sense.”

The brother comments. I nod to him, approaching the wolf corpses, touching one of the corpses and gathering the loot of all the surrounding corpses straight away, since I have looting in area activated by default. The corpses don’t disappear though, they stay where they are since the two warriors still have their share of the loot.

(Randall): “So that’s how you do looting?”

(Poison): “Yep. Thankfully, we don’t have to actually skin them. That would be traumatizing.”

I joke. The other two also touch the wolves, getting their loot, the wolves disappearing. I then approach the soldiers, and after making sure that they are fine, they run back to the abbey, and I finish the part where I have to save soldiers for the quest.

(Poison): “Well then, see you guys around! Good luck!”

And I start to walk away.

(Maximus and Randall): “Wait!”

I stop, holding back a smile. To be honest, levelling alone would be best, at least without warriors on the party. Another mage, a hunter or a rogue would be much more efficient in the first levels. However, having warrior friends can be useful. But I can’t let them know that yet, since I need to be the one in the better position. I turn back, looking at them innocently.

(Poison): “Yes?”

(Randall): “Don’t you want to party up with us? We could finish the quest real quick!”

I scratch my chin, faking like I’m thinking deeply.

(Poison): “Well, I’m halfway done with the quest already…”

I look at them, seeing that they are looking at me eagerly. They surely are MMO players from other MMOs, so they must have noticed that they don’t do damage to mobs, and they have the chance to just die in a 1v1 against any mob. That won’t be the case in the late game though, they’ll be valuable tanks that will allow for some pretty crazy stuff.

(Poison): “But well, I guess we could party for a while.”

Their faces seem to get brighter as I say that.

(Poison): “Did you guys join with any other friends?”

I ask to be sure, and they exchange a weird look. Yeah, they definitely did.

(Maximus): “We did, our sister supposedly joined with us, but she’s not around here.”

(Poison): “Did she make a human?”

(Randall): “I think she was planning to make an elf.”

Oh, so she did a night elf.

(Poison): “Then it’s obvious that she won’t be around here.”

(Maximus): “What do you mean?”

I smile.

(Poison): “Each race has a different starting area. You know that, don’t you?”
