Grimm laid in bed. It was hard, cold, and unmoving, and yet he chose to lay there. Not that he had much of a choice, he could’ve had a normal childhood but noooo his little sister just had to run in front of a truck. If only he had died and been reincarnated into an isekai world, it was the right kind of truck too... but nope! Instead he just broke his spine in 3 separate places, and now he lay in this dumb hospital room with it’s dumb lights and dumb IV drips.
He couldn’t even eat anymore! Everything was just a liquid pumped directly into him, not that he would’ve been able to eat anything given the chance, seeing as how he couldn’t move his mouth, or swallow for that matter. Or move his arms, or his legs, or anything really. He could blink if he tried really hard, but it wasn’t worth the effort, not when he could just keep his eyes closed.
Where did it all go wrong? He had his whole life planned out for him, get decent grades through high school, go to the same college as his father, graduate majoring in finance and marketing, receive his father’s share of the company, and take over as chairman, but it seemed life had other plans.

It was all because of his stupid little sister, not that it was her fault, she was only six, but she couldn’t have kicked the soccer ball toward the house? Was it that hard to not kick something into oncoming traffic and run after it? At least he had been there, sure he may be paralyzed, but his sister would’ve died for sure, and modern medicine had come a long way right? In a couple years he could be walking around with a robot exoskeleton, everybody none the wiser.
It was then that the beeping of the machines and the dripping of the IV’s stopped. Grimm tried his hardest but his eyes just wouldn’t open. Wait, he could blink, his eyes were open, the room was just dark. Then it hit him. “If the power went out, am I going to die?” His heart was beating faster and faster, his breath becoming even more shallow and sickly than it already was. “No, they have backup generators and stuff like that right? My father paid a hefty sum to put me here, if they let me die, they die too.” Then his heart stopped beating quite so quickly, and he started to accept his fate. “Dang'' Grimm thought in his last moments, “I’ll never get to wear an exoskeleton”
