27 Elias, Abyssal

27 Elias, Abyssal

Elias is plunged into a bewildering nightmare, his senses assaulted by a surreal and horrifying vision. He finds himself seated on a still, black sea that stretches infinitely in all directions. Before him, a colossal moon looms, its size threatening to collide with his own. From this celestial body, a stream of stars flows outward. Bizarrely, swords of various shapes and sizes are plunged into the water without sinking. A crimson river flows from Elias' crossed legs towards the rising moon, which ominously absorbs the moon's radiant light.

Elias' attention is drawn to the water beneath him, where monstrous serpents emerge from the dark depths, their bodies adorned with razor-sharp spines and piercing yellow eyes. The sight chills him to the core.

As he shifts his gaze back to the crimson stream flowing from him, nightmarish shapes materialize on either side of the river—a nightmarish landscape of jagged forms and gruesome lumps of gore. Mangled and contorted bodies are strewn about, some appearing freshly slain with terror etched upon their faces, while others are reduced to skulls and bones with rotting flesh.

The abhorrent stench of death permeates the air, causing Elias to retch. A hot wind emanates from the impending collision of the moon, and dark storm clouds billow into existence. Fiery lightning strikes out ahead of the tempest, followed by thunder that rumbles across the black sea towards him. Within the storm clouds, Elias senses a malevolent presence, a sinister entity that observes him from the shadows.

Fear tightens its grip on Elias as he attempts to retreat, but his efforts prove futile. His feet seem to be anchored to the water, and he remains in place. Paralyzed by terror, he envisions a fearsome beast lurking within the storm, its eyes fixed upon him, driven by an insatiable desire for his presence. Panic consumes him, and he imagines this malevolent force drawing nearer, ready to seize him.

Struggling to escape, Elias thrashes in vain, his cries of terror echoing in the silent void. His voice terrifies him as it rends the stillness, and he knows the lurking entity can hear him. The desperate realization that he should be still, silent, and hidden among the lifeless bodies washes over him, but he is unable to heed this advice.

And then, he sees it—an otherworldly creature walking upon the surface of the black water, its size rivaling that of a bear. Cloaked in darkness, the creature lacks discernible eyes, yet Elias is certain it gazes malevolently in his direction. Its maw, grotesquely positioned down the center of its chest, is wide open, and its claws extend to its knees. The creature advances towards Elias, its grotesque stride akin to that of a panther, an aura of terror exuding from its colossal, snake-like presence.

Elias sits bolt upright, his body drenched in cold sweat. Alarms blare, and harsh white light assaults his senses as he finds himself on a bed with his legs restrained. An intravenous line dangles from his arm. Panic courses through him, and he struggles to make sense of his surroundings as he hears the steady voice of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) beside him.

"You saw him, didn't you?" the EMT asks, his face paling. "He's already found you. He's coming, isn't he?"

Elias clenches his teeth, a profound sense of unease settling in his chest. His eyes drop to his stomach, where three blood-covered bullets protrude before dropping onto his shirt. Hot blood flows from the wounds, staining his clothing, before the injuries miraculously seal themselves. The inexplicable events leave Elias gasping for breath, his heart pounding like a frenzied bird.

"You have to listen," the EMT implores, his voice a mix of whispered urgency and dread. "Abyssal. That's what you saw. Don't fight it. If you see it, don't let it get near you. Run. Run for your life. It's coming for you. I could smell you when I got here. I know what you are. You're in danger, kid. Do you understand? It wants you. Abyssal wants you. He's coming for you now. You have to run. Run as fast as you can and hide. O.K.? Run, and don't look back. Then hide and don't fight anymore. Don't draw it to you. Just live a quiet life. If you see danger, walk on the other side of the road. Every time you use the blessing, Abyssal draws nearer. Do you understand?"

Elias nods, though his comprehension is limited. He doesn't understand the strange man's cryptic warnings, the bizarre visions he witnessed, or the identity of Abyssal. He nods simply because this frantic man expects him to.

"Stop the Ambulance!" The EMT slams a fist into the ambulance's interior wall, and Elias tumbles to the floor as the vehicle screeches to a halt. The disheveled man unstraps Elias' legs and practically forces him toward the back door.

Moments later, Elias stands on a bustling city street, his shirt slashed open and soaked in blood. His shoes are inexplicably gone, and the eyes of countless pedestrians, commuters, and passersby fixate upon the strange figure who has emerged from the ambulance.

The EMT leans out of the ambulance, urgency etched across his features. "Lose the bloody clothes. Get them as far away from you as you can. He can smell it in the blood. Don’t just stand there, Run!”
