It was suppose to be just another fine day as a citizen of the Dwerti Empire. Lily would wake up and unplug the mana stone from her alarm, have breakfast, and walk with her husband halfway between his and her job, kissing him goodbye as he turned to walk down a different street.
Then she’d stop by the marketplace on her way to work and grab a pastry from uncle Jaro before heading into towering stone building.
After a quick chat with Kira at the front desk, she would head down a long corridor before turning left into her office. A large mana crystal was located in the center of the office surround by multiple desks all connected to it. As she walked around to get her desk she’d greet her fellow operators asking about their children or their mornings.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Once she was settled down at her desk and had everything in place, she’d adjust and sanitize her clunky Telepathic Receiver Device, or T.R.D, and connected the cord to the plug connected to the main mana crystal.
Once equipped, her mind would be flooded with various forms of information one after another while at the same time she would write out everything she saw and deliver the paperwork to the correct office. Lily and the other operators provided a unique service. Near instant messaging. Before mana, it’d take months for a carriage to deliver a letter, now it took only several hours at most.
However, what she thought to be another routine day at work became something entirely different. After transferring some of the usual items, such as letters from soldiers to their families, Lily received a different message.
