Prologue

The cool night wind blew as footsteps rung out on the rough sidewalk. The man wearing a light varsity jacket constantly rubbed his hands together to maintain as much warmth as possible.

It was the end of autumn and winter was just around the corner. Noah blamed himself for not bringing along a more thicker coat in this chilly season.

Actually he could have went home earlier, but some issues came up at the library which lead to him working over-time. Now he had to bear the consequences and almost freeze to death walking 1.5 kilometers back to his apartment.

Noah continued walking as he occasionally glanced at the brightly lit stores aligned at the side of the road and cars whizzing by one by one. He should've also bought a car...

Well regretting about it now was a bit too late.

And so, under the freezing weather, Noah walked for around 14 minutes and slowly saw his apartment building come into view.

It was also at this time that he saw a weirdly positioned dandelion weed between the crack of two sidewalk tiles.

It stood upright, directly in the center of the crack. For a moment, Noah felt as if it was asserting dominance towards the other weeds.

...No what was he thinking, maybe the freezing cold weather had done something to his brain.

Noah proceeded to step around the tall dandelion and continue walking. He walked for about 10 meters before getting a strange feeling.

Subconsciously, he turned his head back to look at the dandelion that was stuck in the crack.

The next second, he became stunned and directly froze in place.

The dandelion that had just climbed out of the dirt also paused. Then it panicked for a moment and accidentally ran into a stone wall.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Then it tried to get up but slipped and fell again.

Noah: .....................

The dandelion laying on the ground: .....F*ck

Noah had gone through many crazy situations in life, but this was the first time his mind went completely blank.

So he just stared at the dandelion. Stared as it attempted to crawl back into the crack and act as if nothing happened.

There are many things a normal human being can do in this situation.

A, to walk away thinking there was something wrong with their brain

B, call the police

C, run way

And in this case, Noah chose D.

Before the dandelion had time to react, it was picked up by a pair of freezing cold hands.

For some reason, ever since he was young, Noah had the talent of facing any potential danger head on. It was actually quite surprising that he was able to live until now with a personality like that.

The overly huge dandelion weed was now gripped tightly in his hands. As if startled by the sudden cold temperature, the huge weed stiffened up and stopped moving. The atmosphere fell silent.

Then, in the blink of an eye, the dandelion that was caught in his hands changed its shape and a grain of rice fell out of his hands.

He then witnessed as the rice dashed pass his feet and turned a corner into a more secluded area next to a convenience store, away from the bustling road.

After recovering from the surprise, Noah lowered his hand and quickly turned the corner. However, as one would expect, chasing after a tiny grain of rice was near impossible. Adding on the fact that it could apparently shapeshift... He might as well suspect every bug that was crawling on the ground...

Noah stared suspiciously at an ant slowly making it's way to the remnants of a cracker.

Eventually, he simply gave up and walked out of the small space and back onto the sidewalk. Maybe it really was just his brain becoming retarded after being frozen...

Either way, the night was progessively getting colder and he needed to head home to cook dinner for himself. It was no time to be worried about a walking dandelion that turned into a grain of rice.

.....

...Actually maybe its significant enough to worry a little bit.

----------

The figure of the man's body slowly faded into the distance.

A calm silence fell on the area next to the convenience store. This silence lasted for about five minutes.

After confirming that the potential threat was gone, the ant that now had a piece of cracker in its mouth finally let out a sigh of relief.

That person's coginitve ability was a bit too powerful.

The next second, a tall man with pitch black hair casually walked out of the space next to the convenience store and disappeared into the darkness of night. However, nobody on the sidewalk seemed to notice his existence.
