Chapter 1:
May 23, 2024, nothing went wrong. Unless, of course, you remembered that large portals appeared across the world, and a single slime appeared.
A single slime for every person, of course.
It appeared five feet from the person it was assigned to. The nine billion slimes in and of itself was already horrible, as most people didn't know how to fight. But, this is before you take into account the fact that slimes couldn't appear inside an already occupied space. Because of this, in large cities, this left millions of acidic slimes five feet above the person they were assigned to.
Of the lucky few people who initially survived, they then had to face down millions of slimes by themselves.
This led cities to be barren wastelands filled with almost nothing but millions of slimes.
Almost, as in every city there was at least one refugee who managed to survive the first night, thus allowing access to the shop.
Apparently, their god-like overlords had been kind enough to give points for every slime killed, thus letting people buy upgrades to their body that they desperately needed.
~~~~~~~~~~
Looking over the store options, all Matt could think was, Scam, scam, scam! One point per slime, which was acidic enough to melt even the strongest metals, and buying a wooden stick that could resist the acid cost 100 points! After looking around some more, he once again thought this place a scam, as just buying a day's ration cost 5 points!
This was insane! He had asked the other people at the shop, and they, believing it was game-like, and immediately searching for slimes to kill, only got around 10 kills, and therefore 10 points.
He had been one of the lucky few people to survive in a big city, so he had been forced to use whatever weapon he could find to kill the slimes.
Still, having just come out of the military after 10 long years, he was ready for a fight at any moment. However, being 34, amazingly physically fit, and having a great ability to sense fights was not the reason he had killed 126 slimes. No, the real reason he had killed all 126 of them was because he was forced to.
He fought the bare minimum of them while running for a hotel room to save his life. He knew enclosed spaces would be hard to fight in, he also knew it would be harder for them to enter his room if only one could fit in at a time.
Over time, as a few slimes trickled by the door, he slowly killed more.
One thing he had noticed while fighting for his life was that they all seemed to be moving towards a higher floor. He didn't know why they were all moving up, but based on cultivation books he had read, it was because of higher quantities of qi. If this was true, it meant that there was an entire other layer to the world.
If there was qi, then just sitting in a single spot for a few hours would allow for someone to gain immense power.
Just as he reached a climax in his thought process, a loud sound echoed out, and a giant person with the width of a normal person's height appeared in the middle of the completely white area that he was in.
People that weren't near the being looked over at it, and the people who were near it quickly scrambled away.
"System integration successful.
Welcome to the ultraverse
Eradication of a bit over 99.999875 percent of humanity successful.
10,000 people are left.
Access to the store allowed.
Amount of slimes on the planet known as 'Earth'will triple every galactic day starting tomorrow.
(A galactic day is coincidentally the exact same length of an Earth day. The difference is it is 10 hours long, and not 24.)
Upon 1 percent eradication of all slimes, the 31 percent sapient species known as 'Humans' will gain access to TD Project 32.162, and all slimes will be killed.
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
Connection of every planet in the universe will commence once the first planet reaches TD Project 32.162.
Leaderboard appearance in
1," A voice boomed out from the giant being.
Right after the being quit speaking, it disappeared with a giant puff of smoke, and in its place, 9 giant boards appeared. On them titles, and on 7 of them a list of names appeared.
Matt had always had great thought processing speed, and great willpower, so he astonishingly quickly dealt with the fact that practically all humans were killed. So, while most people were having a panic attack, he, and about 19 others walked up to the leaderboards.
Every single one of the people who walked up to the leaderboards with him looked to be at least somewhat insane.
The wordlessly formed a semicircle as they had come from multiple different directions, and the leaderboard formed the other half of the circle.
Matt went to stand in the middle so that he could see the leaderboard better, but the man that had been standing straight across from the middle leaderboard appeared in the middle of everyone before he could even take a step.
Matt blinked. He hadn't been expecting someone to move in his way so fast he nearly couldn't see him.
Just as his mind quickly adapted to the fact that practically everyone was dead, he quickly adapted to the fact that people could have magical powers. After all, if giant beings could teleport, why couldn't people move at a couple hundred miles per hour?
Ignoring his ever-changing thoughts, he moved to stand beside the other man. No one else seemed to be willing to stand next to him, as they seemed apprehensive because he was so fast and presumably strong.
The leaderboard in the middle seemed to be the most prominent, and it had the largest list of names, so he looked at it first.
Points
1: Ethan Long (Devouring Dragons): 96,969
2: Richard Long (Devouring Dragons): 65,707
3: Andy Long (Devouring Dragons): 50,305
4: Steve Jones: 50,304
5: Andrew Long (Devouring Dragons): 45,323
6: Richard Rider: 3,023
7: Alą Bahamă: 523
8: Stuart Little: 132
9: Matthew Blake: 126
10: Alexander Alexandria: 12
There were a total of a bit over three thousand names on that board, but he stopped focusing after the tenth one, as it didn't really matter after that as he was in the top ten.
Hearing that only 10,000 people remained on Earth had not shocked him very much. However, he was extremely shocked to find that not only did six people have above 1,000 points, but 5 of them had 45,000 or more.
An interesting tidbit of information was that only one person in the top 5 didn't have the last name Long. Not only that, but everyone with the last name Long had an addition to their name.
He didn't know why they were called the Devouring Dragons, but he sure as hell didn't want to find out. Although, part of the reason the word devouring was in there was probably because together they had over 200,000 points.
He just hoped they hadn't been devouring the slimes. That would be ridiculous, although a good reason as to why they all had 45,000 or more points.
Putting aside his thoughts about those insane people, Matt looked at the leaderboard to the right of the middle one. It was one of the other ones with names on it.
Cultivation
1: Ethan Long: Meridian Forming: Stage 3: 6 hours
2: Richard Long: Meridian Forming: Stage 2: 5.8 hours
3: Andy Long: Meridian Forming: Stage 2: 5.7 hours
4: Andrew Long: Meridian Forming: Stage. 2: 5.65 hours
5: Steve Jones: Meridian Forming: Stage 1: 11.7 hours
6: Matthew Blake: (Knows how to cultivate)
He saw that just knowing how to cultivate put him on the list for now, but he knew that later on just knowing how to cultivate would put
him far behind.
Something he believed to be important was that Steve Jones had stayed in Stage 1 of Meridian Forming with 11.8 hours of cultivation, but Ethan Long had gotten to Stage 3 with only 6 hours. That meant that you could probably stay in an earlier stage for longer and make yourself stronger later on.
It also seemed that power from cultivation rose exponentially. At 6 hours, Ethan Long earned 50 percent more than Richard Long who spent 5.8 hours cultivating.
The slimes had appeared at midday, and he had come here at midnight. That meant that 12 hours had passed.
This neat that not only had Steve gotten to a safe place, he had also spent 11 hours and 42 minutes cultivating. This meant that he had gotten 50,000 points within 18 minutes.
Given 12 hours, the amount Steve could earn was insane.
Feeling disappointed that he hadn't found out about Cultivation quickly within the first day, his vision moved to the leaderboard to the left of the middle one.
Power
1: Steve Jones
2: Ethan Long
3: Richard Long
4: Andy Long
5: Andrew Long
6: Matthew Blake
7: Richard Rider
8: Alą Bahamă
9: Stuart Little
10: Alexander Alexandria
Matt noticed there were a few changes from the points leaderboard to the power leaderboard. First off, Steve was in first place which he thought was pretty obvious considering how quickly he gained 50,000 points.
What was surprising, though, was the fact that he was in 6th place. Based on the amount of points he had, he should have z
been in 9th place.
It seemed that just knowing what cultivation was set him far above almost everyone else.
Moving on, he looked at the leaderboard to the right of the cultivation leaderboard.
Main Status
1: Steve Jones: 0-z-1
It gave no further information, so all Matt knew was that Steve had unlocked something no one else had.
This time, he looked at the leaderboard to the left of the power leaderboard.
Universal Power
1: Zhev Kun'Av
2: Afh Khoumoursh
3: Ze Potlie
4: Nefrezius Zambiquous
5: Steve Jones
6: Azeth Kunaz
7: Nuaw Kentuaw
8: Jack Hoffmen
9: Vhev Vun'Av
10: Qhev Whun'Av
As soon as he read the title of this leaderboard, he knew that he would be seeing the strongest people in the universe. What he hadn't been expecting was that Steve would only be 5th.
However, when he thought about it, it seemed pretty accurate. Assuming that people from other planets weren't humans, you could guess they had a more powerful physique than a human. They might have even had magic before the slimes appeared.
Not having much to think about from that leaderboard, Matt moved on to the one to the right of the Main Status leaderboard.
Dao
As there were no names there, and Matt didn't know what Dao was, he looked at the leaderboard to the left of the Universal Power leaderboard.
Universal Dao
It seemed that no one in the universe had unlocked Dao. This actually surprised Matt. What could be so hard to unlock that even these incredibly powerful people couldn't unlock it?
This time, he looked at the leaderboard farthest to the right.
Universal Rank
1: Zhev Kun'Av: y
2: Afh Khoumoursh: zzz
3: Ze Potlie: zz
4: Nefrezius Zambiquous: z
5: Steve Jones: z
He didn't know what rank was, or what the z's or y's meant, so he just looked at the last leaderboard to the left.
Universal Tier
Seeing as there was nothing of note in this leaderboard, Matt went to sit down somewhere to try and cultivate, but a string of information entered his mind just as he turned away from the leaderboards.
He wanted to see what the information was after he went to a remote corner and sat down, but he felt a strong tug on his mind, and he fell over.
The last thing he saw before he passed out was the man who had practically teleported to the leaderboards standing over him.
