“I don’t feel safe! I don’t feel safe!” said Tann as she walked through an alley filled with robots armoured to teeth. Although they were all in dormant mode, the dim blue light from their engines still caused Tann’s goosebumps to rise. However, there was one thing that slightly comforts her, the signs hanging on the robots with the phrase, ‘Decal weapon attached, please schedule visits to see actual products.’.
“Aren’t these amazing?” Rosy, on the other hand, was wearing a ‘student reporter’ badge and quickly took photos of these weapons with her high-resolution camera, “Hope Loci can come and check these out for himself so he knows how terrible he is.”
“I don’t feel comfortable,” Tann told Rosy. Unlike Rosy, who try to make a stop at every battle-bot, Tann dragged Rosy by her arm and attempted to speed through the columns of iron giants.
“Why are you so impatient,” Rosy dragged back, “I need all the data for my school magazine article!”
From the embarrassments given by the instance stare of the people around them, Tann released Rosy’s hand, “Fine, but you told me that this is only a…”
“I said something to do with technology, right?” Rosy argued, “you are the one asking if there is a radio jammer which is the most widely used military equipment!”
“Fine, fine,” Tann replied, “maybe we’ll split for now and meet at the kitchen equipment section later.”
One day ago, …
After departing from Loci’s secret lab, Tann encounter Rosy at the school’s front gate who waved at her, “what are you doing here?”
“Just chilling,” said Rosy who showed a badge inside a plastic container, “I just finished a meeting with the magazine society and they want me to act as a reporter tomorrow.”
“Nice,” Tann said coldly, “good luck with your article.”
“I mean,” Rosy began her real intention, “it is a tech exhibition at the Qchong Centre, where all the big tech companies, well, that’s only NK (North Köloñ) and Leopard, as well as some small innovation companies, showcase their latest tech.”
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
“Wait,” that grabbed Tann’s interest, “what kind of products? Are the radio jammer or computer processors?”
“Definitely,” Rosy took out her phone which displayed a digital leaflet and scrolled to a pink section, “there, you can find NK’s latest computer products and the radio jammer should be in the blue section.”
“Can you send me…actually, just let me take a picture of your screen,” Tann uttered.
“You don’t like sharing your personal information, don’t you?” Rosy asked as Tann quickly snapped a few pictures, “fine, where do you want to meet tomorrow.”
“How about let’s meet at the entrance of the pink zone?” Tann asked, “but that’s only if I can survive another night…”
“Hello…” Tann looked at a man dressed in military uniform, who had a poker face, “do you have a radio jammer…”
“It can only be sold to personals with a license,” the man replied without looking at Tann directly.
“Are you talking about this one?” Tann showed him her ‘fake’ license that she created last night.
The man finally turned to her and took her card without any warning, “let me scan this…Okay, which model do you want? The civilian model has a max coverage of one kilometre.”
“Yes,” Tann said quickly and took her card back, “get me that one.”
“Please pay at the exit,” said the man while packing a device with a large radio dish into a box filled with sponge.
Rosy suddenly appeared from behind and whispered in Tann’s ear, “Finally found you.”
“Don’t speak too close to me without warning!” Tann cried while taking the product from the man, “I thought we are meeting at the kitchen section?”
Rosy took a picture of Tann and her box, “I finished early, and I bet you should be here searching for some weird jamming device. Besides, what do you need that for?”
“Uhhhh…” Tann looked down at her big box, “it is for…”
“Another personal project, I know,” Rosy didn’t give Tann any time to make up a new explanation, “just try not to have that thing near me, I don’t want my phone to be broken by that thing.”
“Sure thing,” said Tann, “ have you seen anything interesting in the battle bot section?”
“Actually,” Rosy drew out a paper leaflet from her pocket, “I saw a random presentation over there by NK but it finished before I can call you, so I got this for you, it is quite interesting.”
Biological Supercomputer
“The greatest advancement in computer science,”
-----Dr. Kursk
The brain has always been the most mysterious organ in all organisms. It has a processing power greater than any computer processor in existence. So, what if, we combine the calculation speed of artificial processors with biological brains? Will we be able to create the greatest supercomputer?
The North Köloñ lab of computer science is currently researching a method to combining the brains of primate animals’ brains with the latest CHIP10™ processors…
“Interesting…” Tann was lost in thoughts, “I wonder how they will be able to do that?”
“I know right,” Rosy said happily, “I can’t wait to see their final product, maybe they can finally the end of pi.”
“That will be bad.”
“What do you mean?” Rosy asked curiously, “it is just a never-ending recurring number tho. What’s the problem with that? It’s not like our whole society will break down.”
“Maybe,” Tann didn’t want to elaborate on her point, “but I want to know how they will connect the brains with the computer…”
“Have you not heard?” Rosy said, “they had developed a lobster-like device that can connect to the spinal cord which can read the brain’s electrical signals. I think they can just reverse it to feed signals into the brain.”
Tann chooses not to reply, in her mind, a new plan was merging.
