The rain fell as Hiiragi and I were about to reach my home. I remember hearing on the news that there were possibilities of a typhoon later in the evening.
So that's what it was...
Anyway, we were just a few steps away, so our uniforms didn't get too wet.
Standing in front of the door, I rang the doorbell. The sound of the answering machine clicked on, and I heard my sister's voice.
"Good evening, this is Erina speaking. Who is it?"
"It's me," I replied.
"Me who?" she asked again.
When you call the door of your own house, it's customary to answer "me," but my sister doesn't seem to understand the established nature of the author writing my silly life.
Well, if she's going to do that, I'll bore her by reciting all my details on the answering machine.
"All right, my name is Rokujo Makisu, seventeen years old, born on January second, nineteen ninety-nine, my mother is Sumire, my father is Eiji, I'm in the second year of high school, and I have a silly little sister with a maid complex..."
"Tch... Stop, I get it! There was no need for doxing."
As I heard the door open, I saw my sister with an angry expression on her face.
Erina is my "typical" younger sister.
She has a slim figure, grayish dyed hair, and always wears two small pigtails together.
Of course, she's attractive beyond her age. She has beautiful sky-blue eyes that would make anyone lose their composure, and although I can't say anything about it, she wears makeup even though our parents forbade it.
Well, if I mentioned all that, she'd just be a normal fifteen-year-old, right?
But "typical" is in quotation marks for one simple reason.
A maid uniform.
Wait... Wait... What do you mean, a maid uniform?
As her older brother, I swear I'm not lying. To confirm my words, I can say that Erina has been wearing the same maid outfit for as long as I can remember, even in family photographs.
That's just too strange!
I'd be relieved if it were just a costume, but it seems to be a lifestyle she created for herself. Moreover, the maid outfit she wears is not the type of clothing you can easily find in Akihabara.
And no, it's not modest either. From what I understand, she got them from a real maid, which would explain the quality of the outfit and why it makes her look like a porcelain doll.
In any case, that's the kind of relationship I have with her.
"Well?" Erina asked, swinging the door wide open. "Are you coming in or not?"
Erina fell silent when she saw Hiiragi behind me.
"Who is she?" she asked, leaning closer to my ear.
"I don't know," I replied in a low voice. "She said she'd give me the pumpkin, so I invited her for dinner."
"Wait a second... Did you bring a stranger home?"
"No, no, no. I didn't say she was a stranger, just that she's a friend I don't remember."
"Ah, that makes sens... No, it doesn't! How can you bring a woman home on the first day of school? Are you crazy or what?"
Even though I try to explain, I have to be as brief as possible.
"Hiiragi, wait for us here, okay?" I said as I entered the house with Erina.
I guess she can't hear us from this distance.
"Well, who is she?" Erina asked again, arms crossed.
Seeing her angry, I feel like I have to answer.
"Uh... During class, the teacher mentioned that Hiiragi and I were friends last year, so I thought of inviting her for dinner to find out what we did before the accident."
Erina pondered for a moment.
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
"Ah... You should have said that from the beginning."
"Yes, it was just that. Sorry for not letting you know."
"No problem, but something doesn't add up... Why is she dressed like that?"
I know common sense doesn't apply to my sister, but seriously... How can she judge someone when she always dresses like a maid?!
"Well, I don't want to argue about that. I'll let Hiiragi in and ask what I need to know. Is that okay?" I replied, heading towards the front door.
When I opened it, I supposed I could let her in without making too much fuss.
But the opposite happened.
Hiiragi's uniform had gotten wet, and even the rabbit-eared hooded coat had drooping ears. She was so soaked that I could see what was under her shirt.
It was interesting to watch the small drops of water slide down her slender arms. And among all of that, there was a pretty black bra with a rabbit ornament.
Despite the obvious blush on my face, I looked away.
"I-I'm sorry, you can come in..."
As Hiiragi entered my house, I handed her a towel to dry herself. There, Erina glared at me angrily, as if saying, "She's going to catch a cold," or "What are you looking at, pervert?"
So, grabbing Hiiragi's hand, she led her to her room.

Erina's Perspective
As I was getting ready to watch my favorite TV show, my idiotic brother rang the doorbell. I thought he had already bought what he needed for dinner, but when I opened the door to greet him with a warm hug, there was a girl behind him.
How is this possible?!
I actually thought he was late for some high school reason or duty, but this is a whole new level of high school freedom and debauchery.
As my mother would say, "Any girl who wants to get her claws on Rokku must pass the tests first." When Mom refers to tests, she means going through the first stage.
But that's not the point here.
When that girl entered the house, she was completely drenched, and everything about her was on display as if she were an exhibitionist. I couldn't let her seduce Rokku, so I brought her to my room.
"What's your name?" I asked as I looked for some clothes in the closet and devised a plan.
"Hiiragi," she replied.
"Good, little Hiiragi, put this on while I start the dryer," I said, handing her a full-body outfit.
"Okay..."
Even if she's an attractive girl, if she looks childish, I'm sure my stupid brother won't be swayed. He always makes fun of me for wearing a maid outfit and says I look like a child.
The outfit I gave her was an old cat costume. My mother gave it to me when I was twelve, so there's no way it would look good on her.
This is my victory!
"Don't forget to dry your uniform when you're done," I added, leaving the room and heading to the living room.
When I came downstairs, I saw my brother in the kitchen, and I approached the table to talk to him.
"Can you make the soup?"
"Of course, it'll be ready in a few minutes. Oh, right, did you find something for Hiiragi?" he asked as he added some seasonings to the soup.
"Oh, yes, she should be coming down already. I'm sure you'll like it..." I replied in a hushed voice as I sat in one of the chairs.
While talking to Rokku, I only had time to imagine his reaction when he saw his friend in such a childish outfit.
I'm sure he won't think of bringing more women home after this, ha, ha, ha!
"And... I'm here..." I heard Hiiragi entering the kitchen by her voice.
Well, all that's left is for my brother to see her and... wait... what?! How is this possible?!
I assumed it wouldn't fit her, but this is beyond the limit. What kind of dark magic did she use? No, no, no, it's impossible that it fits her so perfectly. It's as if it were tailor-made for her, which isn't fair at all!
Damn it, why does she look so good in such a worn-out costume? She looks so adorable... No, Erina, calm down!
This... this is just her way of luring your sister to do lascivious things to her. Yes, that's all it is. She's trying to use that cuteness to steal my brother from me!
Hearing Hiiragi's voice, Rokku approached, and...
"Ah, Hiiragi. Did you change already?"
"Don't look at her, you stupid pervert!" I shouted, jumping on him and covering his eyes.
Immediately, I took Hiiragi to my room for the second time.

Rokujo's Perspective
I was making soup in the kitchen when I heard Hiiragi's voice.
"I'm here..."
"Oh, Hiiragi, did you change already?"
Right before my eyes, something unusual happened. Erina mentioned that she had lent her clothes; however, Hiiragi was wearing a black pajama that had a cat tail and cat ears.
It's like a full-body pajama, complete with red ribbons, and it even has a jingling bell collar.
It looks strange, but I have to admit, it suits her.
Ahhh, she looks beautiful! I mean, why was she wearing a cat pajama in the first place? No, never mind, I know exactly whose fault this is!
The image only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to etch it deep into my memory. Until I felt a sharp pain in my eyes.
"Don't look at her, you stupid pervert!" Erina shouted, leaping on me and poking my eyes.
I ended up on the floor. I think I spent about five minutes thinking about Hiiragi in that outfit before I noticed a strange smell.
I actually thought the neighbors were burning something, but when I noticed the smoke in the kitchen, I realized the truth.
"The soup!"
As I rushed to the kitchen, it was already too late.

When they returned, Hiiragi was no longer wearing the cat pajama.
Now she was dressed casually in a white sweater and a long black skirt.
As we gathered at the table and gave thanks for the meal, Erina shot me a look regarding what I had served.
"Where's the soup?"
"It's what's on your plate," I replied.
"Hmph..." She pouted. "Why am I eating this while you two have miso soup?"
Since it was Erina's fault, I served her the burnt soup, and I ended up preparing another one for dinner.
"I'm not sure, but I think it's because you almost set the house on fire, including us," I replied, avoiding eye contact with an obvious smile.
"Hmph..." Erina pouted again and then grabbed her phone. "I'm going to tell Mom that you brought a woman home!"
I couldn't let my mother find out, so I stopped teasing her.
"No, no, no! I'm just kidding!"
Although I wanted to teach her a lesson, I couldn't do it. I gave her my plate and served myself another one.
By then, dinner was over, and the rain had stopped. It was too late for Hiiragi to stay, so she put her uniform back on and said goodbye to us.
"See you later."
Despite having a plan to learn more about myself, I couldn't ask her about my past self.
