Chapter 10: Guess Who Died Today?

Chapter 10: Guess Who Died Today?

“I won’t let you kill the old man!” Grigor shouted as he recovered from his bewildered state, he still can’t understand what is happening with the ebony armored ant monster that received an attack from its comrade to hold a spear with lightning condensed on the spearhead, and its mana suddenly increasing by ten times after the bright lines coming from Charles’ son touched it. “Fire Slash.” He yelled an unoriginal technique name that Charles gave him to pass shame when fighting.

Grigor’s fire sword sizzled up and from it came a vertical pillar of fire that chased after the lightning fox’s figure that got past him when he was distracted.

Leonhardt didn’t need to use his shield to protect Dhasharan as the horned fox using its horn felt the bulk of Mana coming after it even before Grigor finished of yelling the technique’s embarrassing name and easily evaded it by leaping with lightning gathered on its paws. Calmly chasing after Ogden with its high speed and taking a good time to enjoy its first hunt in a while.

“Come b-”

Grigor tried to run after the fox, but a crackling noise he heard coming at him whilst he was occupied with the fox made him immediately raise his sword in defense, forsaking the chance to save Ogden. If only he was more courageous and ignored the attack coming at him to save at any cost the old man, this situation could be easily resolved.

Another lightning thrust came aiming at his face, however, as he raised his sword to protect himself once again the strike only made him sprang back to his original position whilst making his right hand become red because of the friction and strength he felt of the spear’s strike. Fortunately, his sword was of high quality and didn’t bend with the strike or let the electricity flow through the sword to attack his body.

“As expected you are strong and have good reflexes, it is impossible to me kill you even using Kleber’s body, my only chance was with a surprise attack but I failed. Luckily you are an amateur even more than I am in the art of using weapons. How much time have you been training?” Leonhardt advanced at Grigor and began an onslaught on the masked boy, punctuating questions as each of his stabs was met with badly placed defenses of Grigor. “One year? One month? One week? Or even one day and you were able to reach this threshold of power without any fighting experience or determination to sacrifice yourself whatsoever?”

The Core-Master continued, still not noticing he is talking to no one with only grunts coming out from ‘his’ mouth since the one, Rachel, that could maybe point that was with her eyes closed and concentrated in her Spell. “What’s wrong, can’t you answer me?” Although useless right now, Leonhardt’s objective was to taunt the masked boy to commit amateur mistakes and then use a feint to take Grigor out of surprise.

Leonhardt knew if he let Grigor have space to breath or recompose himself, this fight would be over as Grigor is extremely ‘powerful’ so he counted on the stamina of his Antkin’s body and just constantly attacked while mixing some feints in his attacks to put some fear on Grigor.

Even when the masked boy counter attacked as Leonhardt committed some mistakes since the Core-Master isn’t an expert in using Kleber’s body or perfect in mimicking Laylasodercim’s Style, he was able to evade the powerful slashes of fire, pillars of fire, and even fireballs by just predicting Grigor’s movements based on the his father’s way of fighting.

Time passed with Leonhardt in a stalemate with Grigor, it should be logically impossible to this happen since Grigor is supposed to be twice as strong as Tuan. The dark-skinned Elf, for example, could suffer at first when battling Leonhardt in Kleber’s body, but he would quickly adapt himself and use Qi to defeat Leonhardt in five attacks at most.

However, in the end, fights aren’t just about power. And this was proven when Rachel shouted. “I am ready, incapacitate him!” She ran at the location where Leonhardt and Grigor were fighting, holding in her hands the Gift’s Usurper and a steel dagger while black chains appeared from her shadow despite the Dungeon not having a good illumination.

Grigor became overjoyed in knowing the way to ‘win’ against the ant monster appeared, he was tired of having all his attacks being made useless. A shame he dropped down his guard in his happiness and Leonhardt wasn't a man that would let such good opportunity flee from him.

Leonhardt used a curt and small version of ‘Bolt’, just slightly quivering his legs before bashing his small shield at Grigor’s face, destroying the mask of Hero’s apprentice and revealing his red hair and a broken nose.

As Grigor was falling to the ground stunned, Rachel appeared from behind him and stabbed the Gift’s Usurper and steel dagger at Grigor, literally backstabbing him.

Grigor looked with disbelief and even spilling tears at Rachel as the shadow chains bound his body and the Gift’s Usurper began to work with notifications surging in Rachel’s vision.

Grigor screamed at the physical pain he is feeling and also to the pain of being betrayed, he raised his fire sword ready to end the life of the treacherous woman, but would Leonhardt really let his ‘crime partner’, that is perfect to kill overpowered enemies, die?

Leon spun his spear and with the overbearing strength of an Antkin, he cut off Grigor’s head in only one slash.

Grigor’s soul left his body and before the ever-present Soulkeeper’s hand that is above Leonhardt could grab it, Rachel’s chains picked it and brought it back to Grigor’s body. As Mana entered their very existence, the chains became mouths that devoured Grigor’s body and Records.

“Split, [Record Eraser].” Before all Grigor’s Records entered into Rachel, she let one small chain separate from her and enter Leonhardt’s Dungeon Master body. Giving him a small part of Grigor’s Records as part of the payment of helping her when he goes back to his body.

Which he immediately did when he killed Grigor and made Kleber get away from Rachel, to the Antkin not attack her.

“Now, Rachel. How about you tell me what are your plans now that you have killed Grigor.” Leonhardt said, raising his wet body up.

Rachel clicked her tongue at the question, knowing she had to answer him if she wants to continue with the ownership of the Primal Artifact that was currently praising her for the Concept it ate and usurped. “Nothing in special. I am now the [Heroine] instead of Grigor and your father will have to someday continue my training. I will stay in Bayhelm for a while to train in the other Dungeon and then leave to search a way to kill the Invaders and maybe even the Ex-Phantasmas. I and your father don’t trust too much in that bunch.”

“How will people react by knowing-”

“That I killed Grigor or that I became the [Heroine]?” She completed Leonhardt’s words with a smirk unseen by Leonhardt because of the mask. “Leo, because of my Spell only I and you know that Grigor existed. And my Spell made everyone else think I always have been the [Heroine], even your father and the Ex-Phantasmas.”

“Oh… interesting power to have.” Leonhardt said wondering if it was that easy to manipulate the memories of beings so far away from both in distance and power.

“Can you now care to explain how you are still alive and can control those Monsters?”

“Yes, it will be a long story. But I will explain to you. It all began when I…”

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile Leonhardt was fighting Grigor, Dhasharan was exhilarated. This is was the first hunt it had in days, the Elf that uses Qi always flee using a strange device and it hadn’t killed anything since the first day the Dungeon was discovered. Too much busy playing with its only friend.

Dhasharan can easily reach and already kill the old man at its front that lost its mask on a false attack Dhasharan made. But it won’t do that, it will slowly grind and crush the old man’s hope and determination. For example, the face the old man made when Dhasharan left the Dungeon to chase after him was priceless.

This is so fun-

But as always there will be someone to interrupt with its joy, by the stupid Dungeon’s words, ‘a killjoy’.

Dhasharan instincts kicked in and it immediately stopped moving in the forest outside of the Dungeon. Its horn was incapable of measuring the newcomer’s Mana, but it knew its opponent was beyond anything it had already sensed.

This proved to be the correct answer as a gigantic purple hole appeared between Dhasharan and Ogden, and from the hole came tentacles that literally shattered Ogden’s body as if his body was made of glass.

The old man still wasn’t dead as he struggled and screamed on the ground even without his shattered members below his head and neck.

A black high heel appeared from a small purple hole above Ogden’s head and shattered it in the same way the tentacles did earlier. “Stop screaming, my ears are still sensible in this new form.” A red-haired woman appeared from the portal while grumbling. “Old man, why did you come searching for me? If you hadn’t done that I could have saved you, now it is certain that [Hero] and [Antagonist] know you are the traitor, principally the [Antagonist] that woman has frightening instincts, let’s just hope they don’t know you came here to Bayhelm. If not, I will need to flee from here.”

*You… you are?* Dhasharan said in confusion, feeling a primal fear from the entity at its front, its legs buckling. Why? Am I feeling fear? Stop… I don’t want to feel this. But why she seems so familiar?

“Huh…? Are you still alive and unscathed?” Claudia said to Dhasharan. “What a surprise, you even have a Monster Core. So the Dungeon here is that advanced to have DP enough to waste on the upgrade of Monster Cores.” Claudia turned around and was going to leave as she doesn’t want to kill the Monster at her front and expose all her tricks to the Dungeon near here, since she doesn’t know if this monster is a Named Monster or Boss Monster that can retain its memories after being resurrected.

Suddenly, memories repressed into Dhasharan’s mind were activated and it immediately stopped trembling, fear was completely devoured by the hatred and berserker's nature that was flooding inside of it.

It finally perceived why she seemed familiar with how her mana was impossible to be measured and the purple holes she could conjure. *You are one of those bastards that created me!* Dhasharan could now perfectly remember the sealed memories of it when it was conjured on a purple tube by beings similar to Claudia. It remembered the horror and humiliation it had to receive as the tentacled beings removed its sex and made it into an existence that only serves as a Monster that will spawn in worlds which receive the Gift.

Its lightning mage’s powers and berserker’s powers entered into synergy for the first time as it howled with its eyes becoming even redder and its size growing while azure lightning couldn’t stop of being blasting out from its body, destroying the vegetation around it and even putting fire on some far away trees from the forest outside of the Dungeon.

“Hmm… I ‘think’ you are a Named Monster to be capable of doing this.” Claudia evaded the lightning and prepared her Purple Portal to leave this location, she really can’t take this fox seriously or the Dungeon will for sure make traps specifically for her in the same way that Legendary Dungeon did to her in her second Dungeon Dive. “I don’t know what I did to infuriate you, but let’s calm down. If you continue to cause this amount of commotion, Adventurers of Bayhelm will come here-”

Dhasharan is a Monster, there is no way it could understand what Claudia is implicating and it wouldn’t want to understand either even if it could do so. Now Dhasharan has only thought going through its head, and that is to ‘Kill’. *[Lightning Purge]!* Embedding its body with lightning and advancing with lightning concentrated on its enormous fangs, Dhasharan was able of taking off Claudia’s right arm as she was distracted gathering energy to make her Purple Portal.

“Wow, calm down, buddy. Nowadays everyone is so rushed to start a fight, where did the good times of intense monologuing together with lengthy discussion before fighting went?” Claudia said without feeling pain as she reconstructed without problems her lost arm and finally finished gathering energy to call the Purple Portal. “Goodbye, ill-tempered fox.”

Claudia disappeared in one of her purple holes as Dhasharan missed its attack. *Come back here! I won’t rest until every single one of your Race is eradicated!* It roared in frustration.

Before the Adventurers could reach Dhasharan, Leonhardt had finished telling his story to Rachel and ordered Dhasha to come back to the Dungeon. Leonhardt was momentarily scared what Dhasharan would do with its current state of mind, but he was smart enough to send the squirrel, Dhasha’s only friend, to fetch Dhasharan to the fox monster not cause havoc.

“This squirrel has some many uses, I really need to put a name on it. I don’t think I am capable of fully controlling Dhasharan when it goes berserker.” Leon said as he perceived how the Dhasharan instantly calmed down when it saw the squirrel and let the impertinent squirrel climb on it back after deactivating its lightning.
