Are you, truly what you are? Aren't you, just another slave of the world? Live to conquer, yet died amidst nothingness.
Lu Feng was once an aspiring young man. He lives to defy his fate; with tears being the largest expense of his journey. From scratch, he wove his destiny step by step with nothing but an unrealistic dream.
Truly, he was the black sheep of society.
However, the black sheep is a pitiful creature. Disdained by all, even by its own family. In the end, he got nothing but the story to tell.

The sky was cloudy that night, Lu Feng sat on top of a tree branch as he gazed at the sky. His hair fluttered as the wind passed by. His short stature was akin to an owl perched on a branch.
This was his second life, and he intends to make the most of it.

The dew was still moist, and the frost-covered pavement decorated the Lu Family's mansion. The cries of roosters just woke up the servants while the candles were finally burned out.
Lu Feng sneakily entered his room and began to clean it as usual. He wiped the dust off the wooden bed he slept on, changed the blanket, and neatly organized the pillow. After all, was done he took a short break, resting on a rattan chair placed near a dressing table.
Wondering what should he do for today, he unknowingly looked at the mirror which then reflected his face.
A boy, which looked fourteen or fifteen years old appeared in the mirror. His face was quite ordinary, but it held a certain quality that makes people want to trust him. His skin was light and there weren't any blemishes to be found. His hair was black with an asymmetrical cut that let one of his locks lopsided with the other.
Examining his face, Lu Feng smiled. This face is exactly what his younger days on earth looked like. The only distinction to be found was in his hair which he decided to cut unevenly as a tribute to the new life that just began.
He smiled, clenching his fist as he thought about the prospect of the future. The world where he lives currently wasn't the same as the previous one. In this world, cultivation existed and cultivators weren't extremely rare when compared to the majority population of ordinary people. Everyone could cultivate, and there was not that much of a requirement to step into.
The only distinction between those who were talented and those who weren't was the highest tier they could accomplish in cultivation. While it might prove to be a hindrance for those who wished to reach the top, it wasn't really that mattered to Lu Feng.
He didn't want to become a legendary figure who could topple a mountain and turn the ocean nor did he wants to become someone who had everything in the world.
The only thing that he wanted was to live a happy life. A life full of adventures and death with no regrets. He just want to do all that he wanted to. And becoming a cultivator was nothing but a path to accomplish his dream.
Cultivators were known for their lifespan which extended to eternity. In fact, their very reason to cultivate is to become immortal in the first place. Each stage completed means that their lifespan would increase exponentially. Even the very first stage completed was said to let them live up to 180 years.
For that reason, Lu Feng wanted to cultivate in order to prolong his time. As the saying goes in his previous world, "Time couldn't be bought no matter how wealthy you are," and Lu Feng needs more time to do as he wished.

"I think, 180 years of lifespan is just enough to enjoy life, " Lu Feng muttered to himself.
He stood up from his chair and said, "That's it then, today I would ask father about his plan to enroll me in the Eight-Leaves Sect. "
He just walked to the door when a baby's cries could be heard from the room next door. Lu Feng revealed a gentle smile.
"I guess I could also play with my little brother and sister today. "
The bustling hallway greeted him when he opened the door. The servants all started doing their job. He greeted each of them as he passed by, walking to the door into his parent's bedroom.
He knocked a few times before opening the door.
Inside, there was a man with a stern face sitting on the bed, and a beautiful woman who was nursing a baby with a sleeping boy beside her.
The man, was his father while the woman was his mother. The boy beside her was his brother and the baby was his newly-born sister.
His siblings slept with their parents as they weren't old enough to sleep by themselves. Lu Feng as the only one old enough was given a bedroom for himself next door.
"Morning father, morning mother, " he greeted his parents with a bright smile.
His mother smiled back at him; she said,
"You woke up early as always, eh? That's good, but don't force yourself. A young man needs enough sleep to grow. "
His father nodded silently, agreeing with his mother. With a stern face, he said,
"Hear what your mother said, you're still young get some sleep or you won't become tall. "
Hearing his father's remarks, Lu Feng's mouth twitched. He wondered about his father's intention, was he truly meant it, or if he was just messing around with him for he was shorter than his peers. Either way, he couldn't tell; not with that paralyzed face on his father's face.
His mother giggled, waking up his brother who sleep beside her arms.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I wake you up my dear? " she said as she caressed his head.
Basking in motherly love, Lu Feng's brother then quickly fall asleep once again even before he could open his eyes.
Witnessing the moments, Lu Feng smiled gently. He wished that this happiness would go on forever.
He then turned to his father; he said,
"Father, I've been thinking about your suggestion for a while before decided that I might be willing to follow your plan. Could you please tell me more about it? "
His father's eyes widened, and he smiled as though proud of his son. He then resumed his stern face and said,
"Alright, come to my study this afternoon. I'll tell you everything that you need to know."
"Thank you father, " Lu Feng said as he cupped his fist to his father. He then bid both of his parents farewell before leaving the room.
Staring at the door, his mother sighed,
"He always tries to act older than he actually is. I do wish that he could be as carefree as the other kids, but I guess it's also a good thing that he grew up to be a wise man. "
"..."
Looking at her husband, she rolled her eyes.
"And you, how many years it's been since you have that paralyzed face. Sigh, I used to think that was the cool side of you. But then I realized that it was a disorder. "
Father's eyebrow twitched, he still couldn't believe that this woman was the cold and fairy-like girl that he used to pursue back in the day.
His wife then laughed. Seemingly reading his mind she said,
"But I guess it's also the same for you, that girl isn't so cold and distant after all. "
Both of them smiled.

The Mist City was a small city located on the southern border of the Silver Empire. Lu Feng's father was an official sent by the Imperial Family as an acting representative to monitor the local government.
That means their family had an equal standing with the city lord's family inside the city, and they would be the direct opposite of the local government if they had a conflict with the Imperial Family.
But then again, that didn't mean the relations between Lu and The City Lord would be tense all the time. In fact, their relationship could be described as harmonious and each member of their family wouldn't intervene with each other without particularly justified reasons.
Lu Feng himself was on friendly terms with the city lord's daughter. He had even considered her as his own little sister for years and was quite fond of her. She was such a sweet child that he couldn't help but pampered her as he pampered his little brother. But then again, he always had a soft spot for little kids as he was once an old man before.
Thinking about this, Lu Feng sighed. He was truly grateful for the second chance he was given.
The streets were filled with people; the market was especially busy at this time of the day. Lu Feng walked slowly as he greeted everyone he knew. Eventually, he stopped at a certain toy shop and entered the alleyway beside the shop.
Inside, he could see a boy meticulously attaching a wooden arm to an unfinished puppet. The puppet however is quite strange compared with the other, as it had those sci-fi vibes going around its design. In fact, it's more of a wooden robot than a puppet.
Lu Feng's eyelids twitched. What in the world did this boy created, he thought.
The boy who finally noticed him smiled from ear to ear. His runny nose couldn't cover the fact that he was extremely proud of his creation.
"Hehe... How is it, Brother Feng? Isn't it amazing! I've created the robot you told me about before. "
