Tales of the Accursed
A new beginning

A new beginning

An Accursed approaches the city from one of the main roads that leads to the city’s main gate, but before he can even get close the guards in the watchtowers to either side of the gate spot him off in the distance with their enchanted spyglasses.

They raise an alarm, the large metal bells ringing with loud metallic clanging leads the people in the surrounding area to rush back inside the city as the gates prepare to close.

Guards man the city walls with full alertness as others are assisting the citizens in returning to the city.

Messanger hawks are sent from both of the watchtowers heading into the city and another messenger hawk is sent in the direction of the Accursed.

The Accursed witnesses everything, even from such a distant location his sharp eyes catch the whole scene with even more detail than the watchtower guards could with their spyglasses.

He sighs in exasperation as he runs his claws through his bright yellow quill like hair, sending electrical sparks through them. He tucks in his large yellow feathered wings in order to make himself look smaller and less threatening.

The messenger hawk lands a short distance away and pulls a scroll from the carrier strapped on itself and leaves it on the ground as it flies off to watch him from a bit further away.

Another frustrated sigh escaped from the Accursed as he slowly walks over to the scroll and picks it up, he dusts off the dirt before reading it with his bright yellow eyes sharply focused like a cat eyeing prey.

the parchment and writing looks a little worn probably from its frequent use, “State your intentions in approaching our city. Note that any hostility will be returned in kind!”

Another sheet of parchment and a quill pen filled with ink was tucked into the scroll for him to respond, although Accursed have no problem reading as they are quick to learn, they rarely do any writing of their own so their penmanship is usually lacking.

His writing is sloppy but legible, “I am following my mother’s request, since our clan is being divided and absorbed by the surrounding clans I will have to choose between the three factions that they follow, and since they are primarily divided by how they interact with other sapient races she has demanded that I should spend at least ten years of coexistence near a city with the other races before making my decision, rather then just following my father, brothers or other clan mates.”

He paused for a moment to think before he continued his writing, “I have no intention of causing any conflict and I have no problem moving on to someplace else like I have before as this is not the first city or village that I have approached since my journey began, I have bypassed all of those before due to their responses showing excessive hostility or fear to my presence.”

he recalled one of the previous cities sending out their calvery and archers in response to his approach while many of the small villages had people running away and crying out in fear or even strangely offering a sacrifice for him to leave in peace.

His mother’s reminder would always surface up each time, “Don’t be too hostile or greedy, try to find someplace that is willing to cooperate with you with a proper give and take relationship.”

He starts writing again with more confidence, “If I am allowed to live within sight of the city walls then I will try my best to prove myself beneficial to the city, since I will need to hunt monsters from the dungeons for their blood and hide I will trade the extra hides and all of the meat for any of the goods that I might require, and since I am only able to make use of the monster core’s and mana stones of the electric element or the ones that have no attribute I am willing to trade them for a jar of clean blood once or twice a month (the donner must be healthy and mustn’t use alcohol, smokes, drugs or medications). I am also able and willing to do manual labor outside of the city at you request.”

He taps his chin with the feather end of the quill pen before using the last little bit of the paper to sign his name, “Sincerely, Charge.”. Without any more room to write anything else and the quill pen practically empty he properly rolls it back up into the scroll and ties the scroll strap back into place like it was when he first got it and he placed it back on the ground and backed away.

Once he was a sufficient distance from the scroll the hawk flew to it and snatched it up in passing and immediately climbed into the air only leveling out at a hight to pass over the walls and into the city center.

All that’s left is to wait and see what the results might be.
