Journey Through The Lost Woods

Journey Through The Lost Woods

Long ago while I walked across the land I came by a small village outside of a dark forest.

I went into the tavern and got myself a drink and asked the barkeep “What is with the woods outside of town?”

“Don’t go there boy, everyone who does is never seen again, that's why we call it the lost woods”

I was intrigued by his word and decided that tomorrow I’ll go into the woods to explore them myself.

The next morning, I woke up early and left for the woods.

After a half an hour of walking in the woods I realized that I was lost, but in the distance I heard someone singing.

I went closer and there to my surprise I found a small old man with a long pointy nose singing

around a fire, even without seeing me he knew I was there.

“Come out here young man, play my game, win and you will live, lose and you will die”

“What is your game?” I asked

“Answer my riddle and I will let you go”

“Say your riddle little man, let’s see how good it is?

He smiled widely and said “A foolish man walks into the woods after being warned not to go in and told that any who enter die, why did he do it?”

I thought for a moment and answered “Because he wasn’t afraid”

“Wrong answer” he said as he grew into a large monster with a dozen sharp teeth.

He lunged at me but a rolled to the side avoiding his attack, he turned his head to me

with anger on his face “I’ll get you” he shouted as he ran towards me, but I was ready for him

and I ran towards him to, just before he hit me I slid under him and got up and stabbed him in the back with my sword and I said “Is this answer good enough”, he couldn’t answer me as blood was coming out of his mouth.

He fell to the ground dead and I walked away, half an hour later I found myself on the other side of the woods

“Well not so lost after all” I chuckled to myself as I continued my journey onward towards the unknown.
