Chapter 16 - I See The Future

Leave me alone!

The very world broke apart. Valde was sent flying away. He couldn’t face against a power greater than himself.

Sache ran away.

Valde was left to deal with the aftermath of her attack. He was recoiling from the sudden cut in the link. Such a reckless move had dire consequences. That is if they didn’t both have a Fragment of The Storyteller.

Within the time he had peeked through Sache’s mind, he had managed to see all her memories. Even the ones that had been lost. He had seen a particular item that she had left behind, the people she had left behind.

“She’s unstable.” Valde groaned, his body was in tatters. It would take a long amount of time to heal himself right back up. Yet he didn’t have the luxury of such a thing. If Sache chose to manifest Immortality, she would directly tear the world apart.

He needed to preoccupy her. If that meant using her trauma against her, so be it.

Valde was healed from his injuries like nothing ever happened.

His tattered body recovered to normal. Using such a power incantation took a significant amount of power from his Fragment.

“Where did she get so much of his power? This doesn’t make sense.” Valde traveled through the very lands, aiming to seek the people who had a chance of reaching Sache.

Running through at extreme speeds, Valde found numerous people. Elias was guiding a small party through a dangerous forest. Valde scorched the very forest into cinder and took Elias away.

The others were easier, within the Forest of Suppressed Motion, there were countless people waiting there. With Elias right behind him, it was easy to explain what had just happened. Steward ran off, immediately ordering Valde to send them to Sache.

Grayson was out of his league here. He had just barely arrived here yet Valde specifically sought him out.

“You have an important task. If you want to make it up to Sache, you have to reach the Endless Blood and take what she has lost. If you give it back to her, there’s a small chance she’ll return to normal.” Valde inserted a large amount of his personal power towards Grayson.

“What’s in it for you?” A random Tale asked by the side.

“I’ll be transparent. I do not care what happens to Sache in the slightest.” Valde’s words made everyone where wary of him. This situation just oozed danger. “I just want her to stop searching for Immortality. That is all.”

“That’s her dream. Who are you to stop her?” Grayson might’ve just received Valde’s power yet his animosity towards him wasn’t light at all.

“I’ve seen what she really wants. It’s not Immortality. Reach out to her. That way I won’t have to take a risk.” Valde’s cold and emotionless words made his stance clear. Yet that was exactly what made it so believable.

Steward was the very first person who came up to him. “We never wanted Sache to seek Immortality. That’s fine by us.”

Grayson ran away in a completely different area from the rest. While Valde led the party to where Sache was, Grayson was seeking the Endless Blood. Time was of the essence.

Grayson quickly managed to seek out the Endless Blood and entered the underground ruins. The crimson torches were still lit, welcoming unknowing victims.

Before him was a reddish-orange substance. He understood what would happen if he entered this pool from Valde. This was exactly why Valde had sent him. Whoever would go down would lose themselves.

Valde was merely only using the tools before him to their very limits. He wouldn’t let Steward go even though he was unaffected. It was merely a waste of resources.

And from everyone who knew Sache, he was the most obvious choice. Even with such an obvious detrimental task, he pushed on.

“Is this why you wanted me to stay behind? Be the hero I wanted to be?” Grayson sighed, looking deeply into the pool. “I know you wanted me to realize just how foolish I am. But, you got me. I’m a stupid guy playing hero. With an opportunity to save a damsel in distress, who am I to refuse?”

Grayson jumped in. Even a single minute touch completely deprived Sache of countless memories. It was clear what would happen to Grayson. He would lose his mind. Everything he ever knew would drift away from him.

I’m Grayson De Antio. I’m 24 and I live alone. My parents are… I already forgot. I graduated… Did I even graduate? Wait, who am I? How old am I? Where am I?

Grayson shook his head. “A hero never falters…”

Within an already burned-down village, a single girl sat there motionless.

The winter air still filled her lungs. Fog blurred her vision. It was as if it was back then. Before she even came out.

“Sache, I know you’re there.”

Sache was staring at an empty distant house. It was filled with cracks and decay. The wood that had been made for the foundation of the house had already snapped apart. The change of seasons further emphasized the loneliness of it.

Leave me alone.

A force of reality itself caught everyone. Their bodies couldn’t move as they wished. They all felt the very essence of the world go beyond them.

Sache cannot be alone.

Valde winced. A surge of supreme power escaped his body. He had cemented this as a rule. To write reality, he had a pay a gigantic price. A prolonged battle wasn’t advantageous at all. After all, Sache had been blessed with a much more potent Fragment than Valde was.

“Please leave me alone.” Sache looked away from everyone there. Even though the fog covered her up, she still made herself as small as possible.

“Have you ever felt that the world was bleak?” Elias spoke up. He fearlessly came over. “You’ve seen the world at its peak and it’s lowest. Yet you’re still here, right? Let us help you. You don’t need to be alone anymore.”

Sache turned out to be hidden a thousand meters below the ground.

Her words had turned into reality. She disappeared before everyone’s eyes. Elias wasted no time. He didn’t have anything notable to him so he had to start digging. His hands clumped up the hard soil and threw them away. Everyone quickly followed suit.

“Valde, what are you doing? Help us out!” Elias roared out.

“My abilities don’t work well here. You are all on your own.” Valde took a step back and disappeared into the darkness. As soon as he was out of everyone’s sight, he viciously coughed out dark blue blood. The recoil from altering reality was unbelievably dangerous.

“Dammit! Keep digging!” With each handful of soil, Elias was a single step closer to reaching Sache.

A minute had turned into an hour. This hour turned into many.

Sache was curled up within everything. Enjoying her isolation. “If only I could be like this forever… but. I can, can’t I?”

Immo-

Sache coughed out blood. Her very body felt the world reject her. Her existence was shifting between the material and immaterial. Despite the crushing weight of a kilometer of rock and soil above her, the pain she had just received was more much immense.

This one action brought a spark of realization to her.

“I can just… do that?” Sache ignored the pain and suffering from such a devastating recoil. A sudden mad excitement appeared on her face. After so long, and numerous failed attempts, it was essentially within her reach.

The people above felt the very world started to shift and change. Sache had used the power of The Storyteller once more. Valde didn’t even need to stop this encantation for she wasn’t skilled enough to properly use it.

Sache fully recovered.

Immor-

Sache went through another round of rejection by the world. She didn’t manage to fully speak the word yet she made a single step. Her mind was crying out for everything to end yet she persevered. It wasn’t a matter of suffering anymore.

Valde cursed the world. He cursed The Storyteller. Just why was Sache given so much power? A child who could destroy the very world as she wished was given immense power. Valde could never understand it.

Sache fully-

Sache cannot fully recover anymore.

Both Sache and Valde felt with insides churn. They were vying against with other with the power of reality. They weren’t qualified to bend the very fabric of this universe to their will. They weren’t Myths.

Valde roared out within his own space. He was regenerating his body as fast as he possibly could using the essence of everything around him yet it wasn’t doing anything at all. He was both physically and mentally breaking apart.

Pride? What did pride matter now that it had reached this point? He escaped his own personal space and roared out at the people he had just recruited, “Dig faster you useless pieces of scum! Sache’s going to end the world if you don’t work faster!”

Steward wanted to insult Valde back but he couldn’t. He was far too focused on digging Sache out. So far, they had only managed to dig by half.

A person with a cross for a head came up to Valde. Valde was initially confused. It was then that he looked at Steward noting down on his notepad. “You’re the Miraculous Doctor?”

The Miraculous Doctor, a Legend capable of healing any creature to full capacity. He took out a syringe from his bag and inserted it into Valde’s heart. When he pulled the syringe, a series of shadows and dark blue liquid was taken away. The Miraculous Doctor’s syringe showed signs of shattering.

He then stopped doing so. Immediately, pouring everything back to himself. Everything negative that Vlade experienced now turned into positive reinforcement for him. The Miraculous Doctor then reached his hand out, digging the very world apart. The pain he had taken away would be his strength.

Within his single motion, he had excavated Sache away. She was bloody. If there was a hole within her body, it was bleeding. Her limbs with bent in unnatural ways. Her very soul was feeling the crushing weight of messing with reality. If Valde was on the brink of death despite being able to regenerate, how much better did Sache really fare?

Except for her quiet rough breathing, anyone would’ve thought that she died. Blood poured down her eyes, she was struggling to even think straight. Forget thinking, she didn't even know if she was alive right now.

“Sache!” Everyone roared within the depths of their souls. The person who had helped them was in immense pain. It had hurt them even more that they couldn't do anything about this at all. Well, except for one person.

The Miraculous Doctor wasted no time rushing in. He took out an even greater syringe. Inserting it inside Sache’s heart. He gathered everything within his Legend and tried to take away Sache’s pain.

Her bloody appearance started turning normal. Yet she was still in great distress.

The syringe that was supposed to bear so much more than the one used for Valde already showed signs of shattering. The Miraculous Doctor didn’t care. If anyone in the world mattered at this moment then it was Sache.

He continued taking away as much as possible.

“You fool! Stop that right now! You’re just going to let her break the world! Are you all insane?” Valde had somewhat fully recovered. It was enough for him to use the Fragment of The Storyteller a few more times.

“I don’t care! We only went here for Sache. So what if the world breaks apart?” Steward roared out. He spoke his heart out.

Sache opened her eyes. It took her so much strength to do so. “Steward…”

“Sache! I’m here… I’m here for you. Just rest for now. We’ll protect you.”

I don’t want pain to exist anymore.

Sache’s vision was hazy. She looked around. “Steward?”

“You fools! Look what you’ve done! She has no concept of how easily she can tear the world apart!” Valde no longer felt pain. Pain had been erased from existence.

And with such a sudden shift in reality. Would doctors really be needed anymore?

A Legend had just been wiped out from reality.

“Steward… please protect me.” Sache whimpered. She was greatly relieved. Everything she suffered from was no longer there. For once in her life, she could feel safe.
