Book One (Farmer): When Jeb gets his first Class, he is expecting to become a Farmer like the rest of his family. Instead, the Paragons tell him that not only will he become a great Mage, but that he will slay a monstrous dragon. Faced with the choice between giving up the life he's always known or rejecting the call to save the world, Jeb makes the only choice he can. Book Two (Student): After being forcibly taken to the Capital, Jeb begins his studies at the Academy. There he learns how different his hometown's culture is from the world at large.
