The tales of issac chapter 1-lithiel

The Emperor Issac, who was also my father, had been of great service to the Adrian Empire even before he reached the throne,He started his earliest campaigns even during the reign of previous emperor Darius. Amongst his peers he has proven himself as a remarkable young man, and a great lover of danger. In his fourteenth year he was anxious to join the Emperor Darius on the extremely arduous campaign he was conducting against the Eddisian empire,

as such he remarked that, if he ever should come to blows with them, he would make his sword drunk with their blood; that was how warlike his temper was. However, on that occasion the Emperor Darius did not allow him to accompany him, as a heavy sorrow had befallen Alexius' mother, for she was then mourning the death of her firstborn son, Barbarros, a man who had done great and admirable deeds for his country.

and if she sent the Issac to the war, she would have definetly be unable to bear the loss if something happened to him, not even knowing in what part of the world he died, for these reasons he convinced the boy Issac to return to his mother. As such he was parted from his brothers in arms against his will.

However this event that seemed like a great setback for him would open up many new opportunities for Issac that none ever expected....

Issac PoV

Finnaly a great opportunity had presented itself to me, a chance to fight against the wicked Eddisian empire that has plagued our eastern provinces for hundreds of years, and yet never could i have imagined that in front of such a opportunity to render great achievments nad prove myself, that foolish emperor would actually send me home!!

Ever since i was sent to the academy at 10 years old i have trained my mind to lead the troops and my body to wield the sword alongside my friends..my brothers in arms, and yet now they go off to the eastern front and i am unable to acompany them and fight at their side.

These thoughts swirl through my mind as i repedeatly swing my sword at the practice dummy in front of me which has already been reduced to half of its size. As my anger is replaced with tiredness i let the sword slip away from my hand as i sit down in shade of the coutryard.

After the death of my older brother my mother has never been the same, and the empire itself was saddened at the loss of such a great man. He was filled with adventerous spirit and a valiant disposition and tales of his adventures reached far and wide, unfortunately his adventures without rest caused him to die an early death being merely 30 years old,he didint leave any heirs behind but he did leave me his book of chronichles that accompanied him on his many travels.

Taking the book out of my pouch that i always carry on my back i started reading it once again, it was a thick book sometimes a bit exasparating but i truly enjoyed reading of his many encounters and battles as such it didint take me long to get engrossed in it.

i was only taken out of my stupor when a palace courtier tapped my shoulder causing me to jump a bit, i was so engrossed in the book i didint even notice him approach me!

Staring sternly at the courtier for scaring me he finaly coughs lightly before speaking.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

-Young lord..you are being summoned to the throne room along with any other nobles currently in the capital.

Hearing that the emperor is sumoning me my heart started beating faster, what could possibly be the reason for that.

-The emperor is sumoning me? why?

I couldnt help asking the question immidately, it just seemed so surreal. But the courtier just looked me into eyes slowly before speaking.

-im afraid i cant tell you..there are many ears young lord and this meeting is rather private, now come and follow me without delay, you do not want to keep the emperor waiting.

Knowing i wont get anything out of this man i immidately got up from the ground and followed closely behind him. As my family estate was rather close to the palace it didint take us long to get there so we were among the first ones to arrive.

Entering the throne room once again filled me with amazment as i did not get many opportunities to enter, but its glory and magnificent splendor would make anyone gasp. Great gates over 10 meters tall welcomed us into the room and there was at least 50 meters of walking before you could get to the throne, purple and red curtains were hanging from the arches dispalying their royal colours

But i couldnt just gawk there like some peasant so i immidately took my seat close to one of the pillars of the room. it was a perfect position to look at the throne where the emperor would soon be seated. Time passed quickly and all the seats were filled, i could recognise most of people that were attending the meeting they were either sons of famous generals, old generals or some petty nobles without a claim to their name.

Most of them seemed to be clueless as to why we were called here as well as they were all discusing the possible reason, some fools even thought the emperor was planing to eliminate them so they were all jittery in their seats. But the murmurr of the crowd was finnaly broken as the doors slammed open.

And there stood the emperor, the greatest power in these lands who held the hegemony over 30 million lives. he had a fierce almost divine air around him and my breath got stuck in my lungs unable to come out. immidately standing up everyone bowed slightly to the emperor showing the neccesary respect while the courtiers got on their knees not daring to look at the emperor.

Ignoring everyone he walked towards the throne in big strides as he took his seat. He took a glance at everyone before sighing in exasperation as he spoke.

-i have issued an edict to summon every man capable of leading an army here, yet all i can see is generals past their glorious years and babes that have not even seen bloodshed yet. A great peril has befallen our empire, and every capable general went to the eastern front already and i can not call them back now...for it would mean loss of our eastern provinces.

Following his words a great murrmur has risen in the hall but he immidately silenced it with a wave of his hand.

-i know many of you have questions, but i do not have time to answer them. the barbarrans of the western word have decided to expand their dominion, and they seem to have come to a conclusion that we are the perfect target...and we are since we are stretched too thin right now fighting a great war with several fronts. And right now i need you, both the young ones and the old ones to travel in the western provinces and gather recruits, train them and hold the west untill the eastern front is secured. I have already arranged you all in 5 groups that will travel to 5 the five western duchies and recruit everyone that is capable of fighting. The young nobles that are in this room, you are all from hereon apperenticed to your respective generals, with a duty to carry their orders and be their arms and legs where it is needed.  Fight well, the fate of our empire depends on your actions.

With a great silence beffaling the throne room my heart lit on fire as i stood up shakily...not with fear but excitment! this is the opportunity to claim my own destiny and defend the empire against another threat. While my friends may not be there, i am sure that when we meet next time my achievments may be as great as theirs! following this feeling i implusively fell on my knee while facing the emperor.

-Long live Ardia!
