Two detectives stood at the foot of a crime scene, after getting the call from HQ about a body in an alley. One was a rookie detective named Grazz. Grazz was a tall and skinny man of slender build, mostly average in most aspects. The other an old veteran detective named Sam who had been with the force for over forty years. Sam was weeks away from retirement and it showed. Sam was one of the oldest detectives in the force, and had a slightly large belly that showed he definitely wasn't at the top of his game.
"Jesus, it smells like the victim was fried like chicken," grunted Sam as he knelt near the victim, inspecting the body. He coughed as he placed a cloth in front of his mouth and nose.
"Kind of smells like chinese food doesn't it sir?" Grazz joked as he touched his temple and activated the police database in his head.
"You damn kids and your electronics, we used to be much better without all these damn electronics between us" Grunted Sam as he checked the victims' wallet for his identification.
"These electronics as you put them, allow us faster response times and communication." Sam ignored Grazz as he read aloud out the victims' identity as if he had an audience behind him listening in.
"Seems our Vic's name is Albert Paster, age 28. Apparently, he worked in a cyber facility."
"The same facilities that work on the chips we have in our heads?"

"Yeah, I believe so genius-" Snorted Sam, looking at Grazz funny. "-you know of another facility that does the same thing?"
"Your little scan working rook...." Sam's words continued, but had fallen deaf on Grazz's ears. An unfamiliar voice rang loudly inside of Grazz's head, "Follow Cyber and enlightenment shall come." It echoed inside his head for a few seconds before dispersing just as fast.
"Hey sam did you hear something?" Grazz muttered as he looked over at Sam.
"Unless our stiff here has sprouted back to life, no." Joked Sam as he peered over his shoulder at Grazz.
"Weird," sighed Grazz as he searched through information on the victim in the database,"Could have sworn I heard something."
A sharp static pain flashes through Grazz's head as he winces in pain. "Ah shit I lost connection to the database!" Grunted Grazz as he removed his hand from his head. "Fuck guess i gotta use the dispatch radio now-" Grazz walks over to the squad car on the street next to the alley, when he spots someone inside of the car. "Hey what are you doing in there?" As Grazz gets close to the car, the stranger pulls a supressed gun and points it towards Grazz, "Drop it!" Grazz yells, but as he goes for his gun it is too late.
Three rounds strike Grazz, two in the chest and one straight through the side of his jaw. Blood splatters behind him as he staggers backwards and slams with a loud thud against the wall. The stranger walks up to Grazz as he slowly slides down the wall onto his behind. He slowly raises his hand to block out the street light to try and identify the stranger, but it is too late. The stranger points the gun at Grazz and fires a fourth round that rips through his hand, the round connecting right with his eyeball, brain matter and peices of metal splatter the wall behind him as his hand falls limp and he slumps over on his side.
As the stranger walks away, grazz stares at the backside of the stranger with his one good eye. The only thought still ringing in his mind as everything fades to darkness....
