Blood, it was always blood, bloody nose, bloody knuckles, bloody cuts, bloody scrapes, BLOOD. Perhaps that was edgy of him, Alex mused, but he had come to be quite familiar with it over the last few years since his awakening ceremony. Wiping the dried crimson liquid from his nose and shakily rising to his feet, Alex performed the lowest bow he would allow himself to the swine he called a cousin in front of him. "You're almost as good as a commoner, dearest cousin of mine!" Thane proclaimed with a smug grin. Lowering my head further to hide the grit of my teeth, I allowed myself to observe Thane. I understand he has what many would call an intimidating figure, standing at 6 ' 3 and 190 pounds of mostly muscle; he handily beat my unnaturally tall and stick-like form of 6 ' 7 and 150 pounds.
"Thank you for the lesson, cousin," I said in the coldest tone I could manage. Massaging my bruised body as I moved to put my sword back in the weapon stand lets me pretend that I might not be as sore tomorrow as I am every day in this cursed place. Walking away with my held high, I departed from the training yard to the library, hoping to avoid more familial "lessons." Studying the walls as I walked the long passages, even I admit that the Justifar mansion was more beautiful than any other structure I've seen. With swirling planet depictions upon tree-like walls and an open glass ceiling throughout most of the passageways, it was beyond stunning. Arriving at the library, I allowed myself a small smile and walked in, admiring the towering wooden bookshelves surrounding me. The old smell of leather, dust and pages was like home due to spending so much of my time here. Don't mistake me; I like going outside just as much as the next guy. However, due to my constitution, it was often not a smart option for me. Glancing around, I moved to the hidden oasis in the bookshelves I had built for myself these last few years. Sitting upon the comfortable wooden chair and slowly examining the dilapidated wooden desk and tight space filled with aged books for any inconsistencies, I opened my status. I had to resist the urge not to sneer at my lack of progress these last few years.

Rage, pure rage at his weakness, rage at his useless talent, but most importantly, RAGE at his family for promising him so much before his awakening ceremony before taking it away.
Year 1056, 5 Years Ago
Walking down the hall with my mother holding my hand, I couldn't help but wonder about my future talent. Mother said I was suited for a mage talent, but Dad's a super strong warrior, and he might talk to me more if I became one like him! No matter what, I was going to be strong like my dad. My mom even said so! All because of my sovereign talent. Mom says that it's super good, and there's only been 3 ever in history, cool, right!?! Gripping her hand harder, I look up at Mom. I can understand why everyone says she is so pretty, with long, dark-as-night hair and skin pale as ivory, with shining green eyes. She definitely stands out in the room. Everyone says I look like her, but I don't want to look like Mom; Mom is a girl, and I'm not a girl! Even if Thane says, I have a girly name. Looking ahead, I see the object that pertains to all my pondering. The awakening stone! It's an enchanted mithril device that can shoot mana into an unawakened's hand to help them gain their status instead of killing a beast like a filthy commoner has to, making me sneer at the thought of doing anything like a weak commoner would. "Go ahead, Andy, place your hand on it," my mother said with a weak smile while standing in a crouch to face me. "Okay, Mom!" I said naively with a smile, unaware of how much impact a stupid orb would have on my life going forward.
Year 1061, Present Time
Of course, afterward was when my life went to mukt. Upon discovering I had the rarest and widely known worst talent, the way my family treated me changed like night and day. All those spoiling aunties and uncles who would sneak me treats and promise to teach me their secrets suddenly treated me like mukt on their shoe. Even worse was the children; in an instant, I was no longer Alex, the next patriarch and greatest prodigy of the Justifar family, and instead a waste of air and not worth talking to or playing with. My food was reduced to one meal a day, the servants wouldn't listen to me, and I no longer got private instruction from our private guard. The worst thing, though, had to be my mom; she disappeared. Everyone says they don't know what happened, but I know they do. I KNOW THEY DID SOMETHING. Which is why I need to become a pinnacle, someone who maxes out a skill and gains a prime ability. Only then will I have enough power to make my family listen to me. No... To FORCE them to listen to me. Which brings me to my next task of importance, the ritual I had planned tonight. So far, everything was going to plan, and I was going to make sure it did, no matter who got hurt, I thought with a clenching of my jaw.
