RONALD ARDEN:
As Penelope entered the room, the skies roared in protest, showering Grimhold with its tears. Her expression cold, ready to deliver the bad news as I lay defenceless.
“H–how bad is it?” I asked, hoping my future wasn’t as grim.
She exhaled quickly, approaching the bedside table before letting a pile of books drop.
“Could be worse,” she said, staring at the covers as her finger traced across the title. “–but you’ll still have to put in some effort.
“I see. . .” I muttered in disappointment, knowing damn well what that meant. “So. . . how much?”
“Professor Dark wants us to write a book report on the Art of Illusion, and Professor Geron demanded we go over the first five chapters of–”
“Are they crazy?” I interrupted, letting out a sigh. “Don’t they know the year just started? And what of my injuries?”

“I’m sure they sympathise, but they won’t just let you off the hook.” Penelope looked at me with pity.
“Ugh. . .” I scoffed, glancing at the books. “They just keep adding more and more work like I’ve got all the time in the world. I’m already late with yesterday’s homework.”
“And you’ll be late with tomorrow’s too if you keep this up, so I suggest you enjoy your quiet time here and focus up,” she advised, poking my shoulder upon seeing my meek expression. “Come on. I’ll help you out.”
“. . .” I looked at her in silence, letting out a sigh in the end. “Fine. . .”
“Okay.” She smiled. “Then let’s get started.”
Chapter End.
Thank you for-. . . Wait. . . that wasn't much of a chapter. What gives?
Well. . . I needed a short break from posting but forgot to put it in the author's note last chapter. Truthfully, I needed to catch up on my writing, but stressing every week if I'll make it on time has taken quite a toll on my mental health, making me reach a burnout point. So yeah. . . Taking a break from posting - just today. Next chapter's coming out next Saturday, June 10th.
Sorry for the inconvenience, hope you don't lynch me.
But let's focus on the positives.
Tales of Alexander: The Ancient Bloodline has crossed well over a thousand followers and slowly approaches the 250k mark on total reads. That's kinda crazy! Thank you so much.
While we wait for the next chapter, comment down below on what your favourite moment or perhaps most anticipated moment is in ToA. Feel free to also ask any questions down below and I'll try and answer.
Cya next week!
