Elsa always wanted to run away from her mother. Her mother Lisa wouldn’t allow her to practice magic. Why wouldn’t she allow her to practice magic? Magic is fun. She never understood her mother.

Her mother used to say, “Life of a magician is dangerous. And you are not going to enter that world.” Her mother Lisa was a magician. If magic was dangerous, then why did she learn that?

Today at afternoon she was sitting beside the pond near her home, like always. She doesn’t play with anyone. How could she play? Nobody lives near them. Looking at the vivid clear water she wanted to make it float and turn it into ice. A ball of water floated near her hand. She touched it and it was turning cold. But it didn’t turned into ice as she hoped for. After all she is just a beginner level white mage. The lowest level in the world.

Suddenly she felt a cold hand at her shoulder. She was shocked and scared to look back. She was secretly practicing magic and her mother caught her. She turned around and looked at her mother. She mentally prepared for a scolding.

Her mother looked at her. Her eyes were not cold as usual. It looked kind of warm and conflicted. Her hand slowly came near Elsa’s neck.

Elsa panicked and was trying hard to calm down. It’s not that big of a crime to choke her to death, right?

“Happy birthday, Elsa” Lisa said.

Elsa was surprised looking at the beautiful green pendant she was now wearing. It is the same pendant her mother always wear. She never allowed her to touch it. And now she giving it to her as a present. Also how could she forget her own birthday? Finally she is 15 years old, almost an adult.

Nonetheless she felt delighted and happily hugged her mother. She said,” Thank you mom, but can I really have it?”

Lisa said,” Yes you can have it. It’s your birthday gift.”

Elsa said,” But isn’t it very important to you? You never allowed me to touch it.”

Lisa said,” It’s important that’s why I am giving it to you. Also didn’t I forbid you to practise magic? “

Finally the time of scolding has come. Elsa lowered her head. But to her surprise her mother said,” But now that you are 15 years old you are able to join The Great Magic Academia in the east.”

Elsa was puzzled. Her mother’s behaviour was not usual at all. Why is she suddenly talking about the great magic academia? She hate magic right. So what if she is 15 years old and able to apply to join the great magic academia. It would be very nice if she could join the academia. But would her mother allow her to join? Even if she did, she is too weak to join the academia.

Elsa said in a sad voice,” But you wouldn’t allow me to join.”

Lisa said, “No, I wouldn’t help you to join the academia. Magic is not for weaklings. But I am willing to give you a chance.”

Elsa’s eye lit up. “What kind of chance?”

Lisa said, “If you can make your journey to the east and join the academia on your own I won’t stop you from becoming a magician.”

Elsa could hardly believe what she is hearing. “Really you would let me to become a magician?” Elsa asked as her eyes filled with hope.

 ” Yes”, Lisa said.

Elsa felt elated. That’s what she always wanted. But she still kept her emotions in check. She asked” When will I begin my journey?”

“Now” Lisa said in a solid voice. ”You will begin your journey today. Or you can just forget about it.”

Elsa hesitated. Now that her mother gave her the permission to follow her own path why does she suddenly felt scared? Is it because she doesn’t know how to get there or is it because she doesn’t want to go there alone? Does she really want to leave her home? But that’s what she always wanted. To ran away from her home. Now she got her chance. It’s not the time to be scared.

“No, I will go” Elsa said. After all how can she miss the fun of learning and using magic?                          

“That’s good.” Said Lisa. Then she looked at the sky as if looking for something.

Suddenly Elsa felt terrifying pressure coming from the sky which was pushing her to the ground. Elsa looked at the sky. She saw a man floating high up in the sky.

Elsa felt shocked. To be able to fly a person have to be at least green level magician. There are eight stages of magician. From weakest to strongest white, red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, blue and purple mage. Each stage is divided into three levels beginner, intermediate and advanced. Elsa can’t comprehend how strong that person is.

Elsa is sweating. Her heart can’t take the pressure any more. Elsa felt a sinister aura coming from that man. The man pointed his hand at them. The atmosphere started to heat up. And a giant wave of fire surged towards them.

Elsa saw her inevitable death. Even if she die she don’t want to be burned alive. That would be painful. But what can she do? Nothing.

At this moment Lisa waved her hand and all the terrifying pressure and fire disappeared. She said in an ice-cold voice,” You got some serious nerve attacking my daughter. Now how do you want to die?”

The man was first surprised and then started trembling. His mouth was shivering as if trying to say something.

Lisa pointed her finger at the man. A ray of red needle like beam emitted from her hand and hit the man.  Blood stated to leak from his body. The man screamed. His body was slowly disintegrating. Then all of a sudden his body burst into nothingness and only blood can be seen.

Her mother was that strong? Elsa was astonished. Her mother killed that man so easily. How strong is she? She knew that her mother was scary. But she never realized that she was this scary. The way she killed the man. Although it is her first time seeing someone dying she didn’t feel any pity for the man. She was in fact proud of her mom. If she had power she would do the same.

Suddenly a strong voice echoed in the air.” You are as ruthless as always, red witch.”

Lisa said,” Azure Cloud sect master, so you were behind this attack?”

“How can you call that an attack? It was a piece of cake for you.” The man said.

“Why are you here?” Lisa asked.

“We haven’t seen each other in 20 years. Won’t you ask me how am I doing?” The man said in a playful tone.” Fine. I will tell you why I am here. I know you have one of the three heaven defying treasure. Give it to me and I won’t kill you”

Lisa was first surprised at the mention of heaven defying treasure. Then she got angry. She Said, “You think you can kill me. How naïve. The last time we fought you weren’t even able to take three hits from me.”

The man said,” This will not be like the last time. So you won’t give it to me?”

Lisa also felt something different from the man. Her instinct told her that she is about to get into some serious trouble. She looked at Elsa. “What are you waiting for? Start your journey.”

“But” Elsa doesn’t know what to do. ”What about you?”

 “Don’t worry.” Lisa assured her.

The man saw this from the sky. He said,” Who is that little girl, red witch? Is she your student? ” The man suddenly seemed to realize something and burst into laughter. “Don’t tell me she is your daughter. I can’t believe someone like you can be married. Who has the guts to marry you?”

Then suddenly his face turned dark,” If I kill that girl, you will give me the treasure, right?”

Lisa’s face also turned dark. She instantly flew near the man. Her hand glowed in a bright red light. She punched the man in his stomach. The man was thrown away into the ground.

“Damn, it hurts. Can’t you be a little gentle?” The man cursed.

Lisa looked at Elsa. ”Now leave” She said in a commanding voice.

Elsa don’t want to leave her. But if she stayed here she will only be holding her mother back. She clenched her fist so hard that blood started coming out. She ran towards the forest. She didn’t look back. She could hear the sound of devastating battle. She held the pendant her mother gave her as the birthday present. The pendant was soaked by the blood of her hand.

She continued running into the forest babbling one thing in her mind. “Don’t die.” She didn’t notice the light glint radiating from the pendant.
