Ch. 2 - I'm Rogan

Chapter 2: I'm Rogan!

Deep within the 29th Domain, a black enormous Pagoda stood tall, piercing the clouds. It was surrounded by a sinister Aura and electricity.

Inside the uppermost level, there was a sparsely lit throne room. Two men were inside.

"My Lord, I bring unexpected news." a man in a black robe spoke with a lowered head, kneeling.

His face could not be seen under his hood. The words he spoke contained no emotion and had a demonic sound to it.

"Speak." a sinister voice commanded.

It was impossible to see the other person. Only a pair of vicious purple eyes shined out of the dark back of the room.

"Lord, agents have spotted someone they believe to be a cultivator" the hooded figure spoke.

"A cultivator? It's been over nine thousand years since the last appeared. Interesting.." the sinister voice murmured to himself.

"Have you assessed his cultivation base?"

"Lord, it was impossible to do so, he seems to be suppressing it constantly. We watched him for years now, yet not a single fluctuation emanated from him in all this time" the hooded figure spoke.

"We will take no chances... Exterminate him! " the voice commanded.

Meanwhile far away a boy and a noble were currently heading through the market district of Nanmen. The place was booming with life. Merchants left and right shouting to advertise their goods.

"The best herbs around, you can get ALL of them here! Cheap prices, much stock. Come, come!"

"Only today, Ash Vines for only 20 coins each!"

The noble received quite a bit of attention from the merchants because of his fine clothing.

"Senior, it is not far from here, stay behind me. Also, do watch your purse, there are pickpockets around." the boy said excitedly. A grimace appeared on the face of the noble. Before he could speak, the boy continued:

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"How long was it since your son has been bitten, sir? We could use Ferant Roots to reduce the pain, meanwhile, grandpa can look into a cure. You do know that Seven-Sufferings Serpents are extremely rare. Your son is quite unfortunate to encounter one. I am not even sure if Seven Sufferings poison can be fully cured. Our Village may be known for medicine but everything has its limit!"

The boy spoke with no break. Shockingly he didn't even appear to be running out of breath. The noble followed him, taking in all the information. His eyes widened the more the boy spoke. He seemed to possess vast knowledge of herbs and poisons.

"Who are you?" the noble interrupted the boy.

"I'm Rogan!" the boy announced with a huge grin.

Instantly he continued speaking: "I only read about Seven Sufferings Poison from our family books, to be able to see it for myself is so exciting! ...... Oh, I am so sorry, I shouldn't say things like that. Ohh Senior, your poor son. I hope the heavens allow him to get well again."

The noble close behind started assessing Rogan. The boy had short black hair. He appeared to be around 12 years old. He wore a dirty grey Robe. Maybe it Was White once, it was hard to Tell.

"My son has been bitten 2 weeks ago. He's reaching the third stage of suffering. I pray to the heavens this grandfather of yours can help. By now I believe he is the only one that can.." The noble spoke with a worried expression.

Before long, they passed through the market district, entering the village. Many of the villagers looked over curiously.

"What kind of mischief is this brat planning this time. This poor man, just Look at the sadness in his face. Oh well, the Grand Elder won't be able to save him if he screws with the wrong person!" an elder villager murmured.

"I wouldn't say that, he is probably helping him with something.." his wife replied.

"Hmpf, he didn't find it necessary to help me restore my front porch he broke, running away from one of those merchants." the elder retorted.

"Hahaha, you do know that Rogan hates those scamming merchants, he was probably doing the right thing that day" the older woman mused.

Her husband gave off a cold snort but in his heart, he knew it to be true.

Everyone felt in a similar way. Rogan's mischief has been plaguing them since he learned to walk and speak, but the boy had a good heart.

Uneasiness showed on the noble's face with so many eyes upon him.

Soon they passed through the village, from there a road led them up some hills. The scenery was beautiful. There were huge mountains around, as the village was located inside a valley.

A five-minute walk later they reached an old house. The house itself looked ancient and worn down, but what was shocking was the huge conservatory behind it. Inside you could see a vast amount of plants of every color and size. The nobles Eyes widened.

Next to the house was a sign. The words on it were faded and difficult to read.

"House Vacban"
