In a flash of light, Valera appeared in front of a fountain, in the middle of a huge city, with merchants and traders everywhere. Startled by the noise, she hurriedly exited the free-for-all, and sat down on a bench situated on one of the nearby side streets. “In some ways”, she thought, “this game may be a bit too realistic.”

Stephen yawned, and stretched. He had sat down near the river some time ago, and only waking from his daze whenever he felt a tug on his fishing pole. After starting the game three weeks ago(real time), he still hadn’t done much. He had considered how best to start a non-cookie cutter adventure, and concluded that instead of actively looking for one, he would just let it come to him. Thus, he was prepared to wait as long as he felt necessary for something interesting and unusual to happen in his vicinity. Smiling at the thought of his long awaited adventure, Stephen again drifted into sleep.

Remiel continued his job at the small smithy, helping train players still locked within the cities walls for their first four weeks who wished to learn blacksmithing and/or the repair skill before exiting the walls. Despite the fact that he was sometimes mistaken for an NPC, Remiel was a player, though one that had already passed the four week restriction that directed a constant stream of newbies to the smithy where he worked. Remiel was in no hurry to leave the city- for various reasons, he had decided to attain intermediate Repair before venturing out of the city to explore whatever might be out there.

Valera was standing outside a huge building, second only to the huge cathedral across the street. Through the windows of the building she could see rows and rows of books in each of the seven stories. As well as the seven levels, the library also had what seemed to be a tower attached to one of the corners, though from the front Valera could not see what was inside it. As well as the interior, the exterior of the building appeared majestic yet ancient, with its stone walls covered in ivy adding a mysterious quality.
All of this combined to give Valera an almost irresistible urge to go inside and begin reading all the books inside, even if it took her months to finish reading all the books housed within. With this resolution in mind, Valera walked towards the entrance, quickly heading to the front desk to speak to the library on duty there. Valera’s first impression of the librarian was that of a man in his late 20s, reading one of the books that was stacked on his desk. Though he didn’t look up when she approached, Valera had a feeling that this was not because he didn’t know she was there. While thinking this, Valera continued towards his desk and waited… and waited… and continued to wait for acknowledgement. After about an hour, Valera received a system message.

You have created a new skill: Patience (passive) level 1(0.0%)
Mana regeneration increased by 1.0%
After another hour,
You have created a new skill: Stillness (passive) level 1(0.0%)
When you remain still, Stamina consumption decreases.
Continuing to dismiss the rather odd skills that had appeared, Valera continued to stand in front of the library front desk, determined to outlast the man sitting in front of her. With this decision made, she resumed staring into the space directly above the librarian's shoulder, ignoring the subsequent messages that kept popping up in front of her, informing her of the leveling up of her Patience and Stillness skills. Using this method, a couple more hours passed by, the silence uninterrupted except for the ticking of the clock, which seemed to have gained a strange echo inside the still room. Soon, as the day turned to evening and shadows spread across the marble floor, the librarian looked at Valera with an expression of extreme aggravation on his face, distorting his features. “What do you want from me!?” he demanded, breaking the atmosphere that had pervaded the previously silent room. Along with this query, several more windows opened up in front of Valera.
New stat: Fighting Spirit
Fighting Spirit +5
You have created a new skill: Silent Pressure (passive) level 1(0.0%)
Your silence makes other players and NPCs uncomfortable. NPCs are more likely to agree to your requests/demands. Additional effects may appear at higher levels.
Warning: This skill may cause NPCs and players to react with anger
Dismissing her skill windows, Valera continued to refuse to respond to the enraged librarian, who was growing more and more disconcerted by her silence.
Skill: Silent Pressure increases.
Skill: Patience levels up- you are now level 3
Upon seeing the newest updates, Valera could not prevent a slight smirk from appearing on her face. For the librarian, however, this was the last straw. Infuriated, a tirade of sound began to pour out of his mouth that seemed to bear only a passing resemblance to the common language. Soon, however, he began to slow down his rant, though the volume remained incredibly high. Finally, some words were becoming distinguishable. For example, “How DARE… rude… stubborn… weird… pig-headed…NEVER…” and so on and so forth. Meanwhile, Valera continued to wait and watch the spectacle, sure that no matter what happened, this was the perfect chance to raise her newly created skills. As the librarian continued his possibly endless litany of suffering and woe, two figures entered the front lobby from one of the doors behind the librarian’s desk, perhaps from the tower Valera had seen from the outside of the library building. As the two people drew closer to the site of the librarian’s break down, the one on the left appeared to be trying to muffle his laughter while the one advancing on the right quickly hid his expression of amusement behind a stoic facade. On a closer expression, the man on the left appeared spry for his age, moving with a strange kind of intensity. Slightly behind him, on the right, was an elf that could have been any age and whose steps were filled with elegance and grace. Noticing this, Valera suppressed a shiver. “I wouldn’t want to be their enemy,” she thought, but could think of nothing in particular that had caused that reaction.
Walking right up behind the fuming librarian, the spry old man spoke, “Excuse me, young man, but what are you doing!? As far as I’m aware, visitors who behave like you are currently behaving are banned by the librarian in charge! Speaking of which, where is the librarian in charge around here?” At first the previously aggravated librarian was too shocked to reply, and then quickly turned a sickly shade of grey when he realized who was standing behind him.
